not recommended, it all comes down to how good your lawn tech is. since no one wants to work in this tough industry, they employ anyone who can barely pass the Michigan certification. god help you if they get your information, you will get phone calls and spam email till you die. many other local companies that you can do better with. they don't blow the fert off your sidewalks leaving you to track it into your house. they are big but that's it. since they over advertise, it is the first choice of many but you can do better elsewhere. don't fall for the cheap price and substandard service. read more

Make tons of promises and charge you an astronomical amount right off the bat. Then they no call no show. When you call to reschedule they cancel again. When they do come they spend 5 minutes on your lawn not covering all ground. We also asked that they notify us when they do come so we can keep our animals safe and they don't do that either. read more

Had trugreen for 5 years and blame myself for not dumping them sooner. They are great at sales and promises and excuses. My major problem was wild African violets which they kept telling me were very difficult to get rid of. My new natural lawn service eradicated them with the first application. Trugreen couldn't even control the dandelions after 5 years. The technicians changed all the time so nobody took responsibility. read more

We decided to give them a shot. Had them out in 2020 and not overly impressed with the treatment of the lawn. Service tech would show up in their truck, spend 15 minutes in the truck, 10 minutes on the .75 acre lawn, 5 minutes in the truck and take off missing most of the yard. Gave them one more shot and ordered the aeration and oversees in the fall. Spring comes and 1/3 of the yard is not well. A phone consultation from their tech suspected that water got in the aeration, froze and killed off the seed. Their supervisor Matt showed up today, was very disrespectful to my wife after she caught him trying to leave without knocking on the door. He claims that the aeration did not cause it and they were not going to do anything. Even told my wife to call corporate and that he didn't care. They're fired! Not even worth my time to call their corporate. What a waste, and I can guarantee that although they are the official turf are of the PGA tour, there is no way they touch any golf course that looks great on TV! read more

I came home to the TruGreen truck blocking my entire driveway, he moved when he saw me sitting in the street. I proceeded to watch him spray my backyard, he sprayed ALL of my dog's toys in the yard, and a bone! I asked him when he was handing me the bill if what he sprayed is toxic for my dog, he replied yes. I asked him why he sprayed my dog's toys? He denied doing it, he said he went around them, I asked if I should wash the toys? He said yes I should! I had to throw out the bone and a few toys... glad I was home and saw this, or my dog would have toxic chemicals in his mouth!!! I hired Truegreen, in Oct. of 2021 to service my (trees and shrubs). (7) applications.I received (2) applications in that month. They came by again in early March 2022. I caught the Technician at the street and asked why he didn't finish the job, he replied his hose wasn't long enough to reach those plants. He said he would be back. He wasn't. I had to call a few days later, to set up another appointment. Note: I am an early riser and on the day of the scheduled application, when I opened my front door at 6:30 am, there was the receipt from Truegreen stuck in the door handle of the screen door. Later that day I called them and accused them of lying. It is now May 24th, and as yet have not received the fourth application. I have called them at least (3) times this month. The last time I called they assured me they would be by on May 18th. As I said today is May 24th, today when I called I was told the Tech was scheduled to be here on May 27th. If you hire these people I hope you have better luck than me. read more

Something, somehow killed my trees planted over last few years. I have pictures of what they looked like right before going with a service and now. Making one excuse after another - too much water, not enough water, not enough sun , replanting (weird because some were planted two years later and died the same month ...) I was supposed to be nothing before the inspection NO ONE called me. After two years I still have dandelions and other weeds. They continously missed a large portion of our property. I had to call them back out almost everytime for one thing or another. This time they burned my grass. So I canceled this morning. There was no compensation, no apologies, no nothing. I have never worked with a company before that I felt was deliberately trying to steal our money. We tried TruGreen because we saw their name everywhere and we knew they covered every kind of lawn problem. Then when money got tight and we couldn't continue service, we made three attempts to cancel over a period of 6 months and each time our service resumed with unauthorized deductions from our account. The managers are not available to talk to you and agents resist promising a manager will call you back. They are unable to send an email or other documentation confirming the refund amount and that your service has been cancelled. And the icing on the cake? Each time I called they had the gall to ask if we could split the difference. No, you frickin' shouldn't have taken our money in the first place and now I'm calling you AGAIN? You should be offering us free service at this point to save your reputation. I think it is safe to say we will never be working with this company again. read more

Completely regret using this company. I signed up for lawn care. One of their "technicians" claimed that every shrub and tree had diseases/insect problems. He even named a tree that we don't even have! This was proof that TruGreen can't be trusted. I had two different arborists come out and look at the trees and shrubs we do have, and was told that they look fine. Even though I told TruGreen that we didn't want the trees and shrubs treated, they wouldn't stop calling. My husband and I do not feel good writing this post, but we needed to get our message across to management. We used TruGreen lawn service for approximately 14 years, and in the past four years, we noticed a terrible decline in the care of our lawn; weeds became prevalent in certain areas of our lawn, especially, the backyard and along the property lines. After several, beginning of the season, friendly reminders, inquiries about whether they were using weed control, follow-up calls on areas that needed to be addressed, and their ongoing reassurances; they still never got our weed issue under control. In fact, several summers in a row, I had to take out weeds by hand, and last summer, when I weeded, the foliage recycle bin was so filled that my shocked husband finally agreed that we had given them enough time to fix the issue. Customer service SUCKS! I've been a customer since the 90's and never had any problems until this year. I called the TruGreen office to inquire about a missed application. The representative on the phone had no information, but she told me a supervisor would contact me in 24 to 48 hours. That call never happened. Another two weeks passed and my lawn tech showed up. I complained to him about the condition of my lawn, as well as the missed appointment, mentioning the call to the office and how I expected a response. Two more weeks passed when I answered a questionnaire about their service. That prompted a response from TruGreen General Manager Mike Brelinski, of the Macomb/Marysville office. He also promised someone would contact me. I'm glad I didn't hold my breath. We are now at the end of the season and I've had no contact with any supervisor. I had a yard full of weeds, dandelions and clover with my one and only weed treatment coming in late September. (A little late don't you think?) My lawn looks like crap and I pre-paid good money for it to look like crap. We had a contract, and you made a promise to take care of my lawn and address my concerns. horrible. Killed or heavily damaged 16 Plants. 9 hydrangeas, 2 rhododendrons, a golden chain tree and 5 azelias from fertilizer burn. The service manager came out and agreed to replace 10 plants. fine I'll settle for that. me a quote they ask and I did. THEN, the story changed. Well now we want to come back out in the spring and see how they did. This is after 2 months now of tracking them down and the runaround. Now they want me to wait 5 more months so they can come nit pick what they want to pay for. Alot less than offered a month ago. Apperantly the service manager(Jeff Walsh) does not have the athority to compensate because "his boss", the general manager has to ok it. Very bad experience. Tru green came out and left a bill saying he treated for crab grass, weed killer and fertilizer. Three-four weeks later when I had the chance to speak with him because no weeds were dying, he said he only fertilized. Why write a bill saying you did other services when you didn't. Made complaints to mananger never called back or showed up, he finally did call after a week or so but he was of no help either. Customer service is the worst to say the least, I would never use them again. I could say A LOT MORE but I think you get the point, don't waste your time or money. Signed up with them and was supposed to get first treatment on 5-9-16 was wondering where they were since I was home all day and when I called they said my application was already completed. What a joke their employee needs to be fired, he was never here and logged my address as completed. If I wasn't home all day I would have gotten screwed over. TruGreen has the most unprofessional people taking customer service calls. I called to sign up and after talking to my neighbors realized they were trying to charge me double the price per application I called to cancel. The customer service rep said they would have someone come out and remeasure and put a hold on the order. Today they come out spray my lawn with no remeasure or call and leave me a bill for $100.00. Of course I call and they say it was never cancelled and u agreed in the beginning. What a dishonest company they are. The customer service lady was rude and refused to give me her name.
