I called their office close to 2 weeks ago and let them know that I needed the tree sprayed. I was recommended SavATree by the business we have been buying our tree's from over the years based one their experience/reputation as being good arborists in diagnosing tree health issues. At the time we were dealing with a number of Emerald Arborvaiti in our backyard that were sick/dying and an issue with a Colorado Blue Spruce in our front yard that was loosing all its needles and branches dying. The SavATree Arborist came out within a couple days of my phone call and did a thorough investigation of our tree's and diagnosed the Arborvaiti in the backyard were suffering from insects that were burrowing into the bark of the trees as well as a fungal issue. For The Colorado Blue Spruce they diagnosed the issue as a fungal issue known as Needlecast disease which is becoming much more prevalent in Michigan. In the case of the Arborvaiti, Savatree, per my request, gave me a list of chemicals to apply (Root drench and fungal spray) so I could do it myself and save a little money. I appreciated that they did not press me to use their services (which they were capable of doing) thereby allowing me to save some money. Relative to the Colorado Blue Spruce I am on an annual program with them for spring sprayings for my 60 ft tree as I do not have the specialized equipment to spray such a tall tree. The end result of the remedial actions was the elimination of the Arborvaiti issues and saving of my remaining tree's (had already lost three tree's at time of their service call) and slow but steady improvement of my Colorado Blue Spruce which will take years to build back the layering of annual needle growth where the spray applications protect the existing/new growth while preventing new fungal spores from attacking the tree. Overall I am very happy and satisfied with this company where they have been very responsive to my phone calls/emails through the years and coming on site for follow up visits fairly promptly when I have any issues/questions. If you are like me, I view my tree's in my yard as my "other" kids as I planted them over thirty years ago when we built our house where they were like two feet tall at the time. Having watched them grown over the years (Colorado Blue Spruce is now 60 ft) has given me a lot of satisfaction and I will do whatever it takes to keep them healthy which is where SavATree has been the perfect partner to that end. Based on their expertise and quality of their service I wholeheartedly recommend these guys especially If you have a tree issue and are looking for a "real" arborist than you really cant go wrong with SavATree. read more

The initial meeting went well and from there it went down hill. The billing practices used by SavATree are confusing and it seems the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. After making a deposit of over $1,000 we got bills for services provided that totaled much less than the $1,000. (I believe less than $200). Told the $1,000 was a deposit on tree removal which hasn't been done after being charged the $1,000 over a month ago. My husband informed them that he had a check ready with the total balance due and will provide it when someone shows up to remove the tree and complete the rest of the work. Had the most difficult time getting anyone to actually show up for work that was estimated and scheduled months prior. My landcaper referred me to Al Sexton and he was out the next day. He showed up with a very large crew, and got the entire project done in 4 days (2 acres of 60' oaks, maples and white pines). Each day, they left the entire property clean. We had a number of large trees that needed major trimming. The branches went over my neighbors pool. The team of 5 showed up in clean professional uniforms. They went up into the tree and carefully removed a ton on branches. They also ground up two stumps. The clean up was extremely complete. Called to have an arborist diagnois a tree and recommend course of treatment. They explained the call would be $75--fine no problem. Ended up that I was able to get someone to come out quicker and found out the tree has to come down. I called back so as not to waste the arboists time I cancelled and requested someone to quote the tree removal. Much like many here, I was told they can't accept new customers because of a huge backlog. So if I had paid the $75 would they have been willing to put me in line for tree removal? Inaccurate billing & slow to do the work. Feb 14, 2017 I approved a quote to remove a large tree at my residence. By late May I'd heard nothing from them. I called to see if I'm even on their list. Was told they'd be out the next Tuesday. May 30 they TRIMMED the tree. June 16 I received a $775 bill for tree trimming. June 22 arborist acknowledged that they didn't do the work that was requested and indicated that he would send paperwork that I do not owe $775 for trimming. Would not provide any estimate of when they will do the work I actually approved. July 7, still no paperwork that I don't owe them $775 and the tree is still in my yard with no estimate of when or if the company will ever remove it. read more

I did a lot of research when choosing an arborist to assess a very large silver maple very close to the house I recently purchased. I ended up choosing someone with a great background/credentials. And, then I'm chatting with my new next door neighbor and find out he uses the same company - Mike's Tree Surgeons. I had them do a full scope of pruning the large silver maple and putting a support cable as a prophylactic as well as pruning various ornamental trees and removal of some that were brutalized by winter and weed control/mulching. I was very particular about the natural type of pruning I appreciate and they were very respectful in following my specific direction.
