Working with Save a Tree for the most part was fairly good until it came to having a tree planted. The tree that was brought to us looked like a shrub- it had no trunk - just many branches - several had to be cut off. It took several weeks before someone came to look at. We were told the shrub could be exchanged, but that would also take several weeks. The whole experience was costly and disappointing. read more

The quality of work they did was fine as were the techs who serviced my tree. But the company has an unethical business practice of e-mailing you a "Service Contract" for continued, unending service which is impossible to cancel electronically. If you do business with this organization, do it in cash. Otherwise, you can expect an ongoing service fee charged to your credit card. read more

I paid this company over $900 to spray my trees and landscape. My linden tree is getting eaten alive by Japanese Beetles . I called their office close to 2 weeks ago and let them know that I needed the tree sprayed. I was told "we will try and fit you into the schedule." 2 weeks later and the beetles are having a feast. read more

We have been using savatree for a few years now. We always request Andrew, he goes by Drew. When we ask him questions, he has answers, he takes the time to talk to us, explain what is wrong with our trees, and what we need to do in between applications. I highly recommend this company, and we highly highly recommend Drew. read more

I was recommended SavATree by the business we have been buying our tree's from over the years based one their experience/reputation as being good arborists in diagnosing tree health issues. At the time we were dealing with a number of Emerald Arborvaiti in our backyard that were sick/dying and an issue with a Colorado Blue Spruce in our front yard that was loosing all its needles and branches dying. The SavATree Arborist came out within a couple days of my phone call and did a thorough investigation of our tree's and diagnosed the Arborvaiti in the backyard were suffering from insects that were burrowing into the bark of the trees as well as a fungal issue. For The Colorado Blue Spruce they diagnosed the issue as a fungal issue known as Needlecast disease which is becoming much more prevalent in Michigan. In the case of the Arborvaiti, Savatree, per my request, gave me a list of chemicals to apply (Root drench and fungal spray) so I could do it myself and save a little money. I appreciated that they did not press me to use their services (which they were capable of doing) thereby allowing me to save some money. Relative to the Colorado Blue Spruce I am on an annual program with them for spring sprayings for my 60 ft tree as I do not have the specialized equipment to spray such a tall tree. The end result of the remedial actions was the elimination of the Arborvaiti issues and saving of my remaining tree's (had already lost three tree's at time of their service call) and slow but steady improvement of my Colorado Blue Spruce which will take years to build back the layering of annual needle growth where the spray applications protect the existing/new growth while preventing new fungal spores from attacking the tree. Overall I am very happy and satisfied with this company where they have been very responsive to my phone calls/emails through the years and coming on site for follow up visits fairly promptly when I have any issues/questions. If you are like me, I view my tree's in my yard as my "other" kids as I planted them over thirty years ago when we built our house where they were like two feet tall at the time. Having watched them grown over the years (Colorado Blue Spruce is now 60 ft) has given me a lot of satisfaction and I will do whatever it takes to keep them healthy which is where SavATree has been the perfect partner to that end. Based on their expertise and quality of their service I wholeheartedly recommend these guys especially If you have a tree issue and are looking for a "real" arborist than you really cant go wrong with SavATree. read more

I had a really positive experience with Ashley setting up an appointment over the phone. She was knowledgable, patient, pleasant, and helpful. I was especially happy to have a certified arborist come to provide an estimate on our work the very next day. I could not have been happier with my experience with Meghan, who spent more than an hour, walking around my property with me, identifying trees and shrubs, and helping me plan for their care. She was personable and generous with her time and resources, and I was very impressed with her level of expertise. I feel more informed and confident in caring for our trees and shrubs after just one conversation. read more

The initial meeting went well and from there it went down hill. The billing practices used by SavATree are confusing and it seems the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. After making a deposit of over $1,000 we got bills for services provided that totaled much less than the $1,000. (I believe less than $200). Told the $1,000 was a deposit on tree removal which hasn't been done after being charged the $1,000 over a month ago. My husband informed them that he had a check ready with the total balance due and will provide it when someone shows up to remove the tree and complete the rest of the work. Do not recommend. read more

I've used a number of companies over the years to maintain trees, many ornamental, on my property. SavATree is by far the best company I've used. Heidi, the company's arborist, is outstanding. She's very knowledgeable, doesn't oversell, and provides options when discussing recommendations. Her team did a great job pruning my 7 large trees including 4 ornamentals. If you're looking for quality tree service, contract SavATree and ask for Heidi. read more

Meghan was very knowledgeable about the types of trees that were on my property. What I thought was a consult concerning a tree that had several cracked limbs from an ice storm turned into on the spot removal of limbs. She recommended a nutrient application for all the trees. There was no pressure to follow through. Glad I did!! read more

We had to take down a 28" Maple that was right next to our house. We have used Mike's Tree Surgeons in the past. When I heard they merged with SavATree, I was a little apprehensive. Once I meet Meghan Gordon, the arborist from SavATree and realized she was part of Mike's Tree Surgeons, I was at ease. She gave us a very professional quote and treated us like family. She was just as concern how close the Maple was to our house as we were. Anthony and his crew Killian, Paul, Josh, and their operations manager Joe were phenomenal. I was amazed how meticulous and professional everyone was. You could see they knew what they were doing and had great plan to get the tree down with no damage to the house. They left the lot very clean. As I was complementing him, he said he treats every job like it is his own house. You could tell watching them. I would highly recommend SavATree. Very Impressive.... read more

Adam and Jake just left our house after trimming large maple branches from one tree that were overhanging the house roof. They also removed a large branch on another mature maple that had a split in it that would eventually break off. Both men were professional and friendly and being certain that were satified with the finished job. The cleanup was thorough. We highly recommend Oakland County Michigan SavATree and Jake and Adam for tree trimming. read more

We have had this company for several years for our condo association. They are just excellent! They are VERY knowledgeable, polite, on time, cleanup is like they were not even there. They go above and beyond expectations. We get compliments all the time on our trees from people visiting . Our partnership with them is the reason. We have no hesitation recommending their services. read more

Quick to quote, seemed professional. I kicked them off on a job with 50% down like $1200..they said Terry would call to schedule and I never heard back to even schedule. I called them two weeks later and they still had no idea when he would call to even set a date. Not responsive at all. Quick to take your money, then you aren't important. Get a date before you give them money. Lots of other companies to choose from out there. read more

I love this service. This company has been taking care of my very large oaks in front of my house. Today they came, dead and storm trimmed them. The crew were so nice and professional. My dad uses them and really likes them. I called today to see if they could take a look at a tree in the backyard. I'm not on a time crunch but I think the tree is sick. The lady that answered the phone told me (much like Maria) that they aren't taking new clients because they have an 8 week backlog. Extra star because my dad swears by them, but from my perspective if you were super busy in 2015 and turning business away, by 2017 you should have it sorted out. read more

We have been a client for over 20+ years. We have used a lot of their services (tree trimming and removal, lawn fertilizing, tree and shrub care) and are extremely satisfied! We just lost a huge tree limb in the ice storm and knew we would have to finally take our 40 year old silver maple down. They were courteous on the phone and had a team out here before we expected. Some of the lead time to respond definitely depends on the most efficient way to schedule work and equipment, so we had expected to wait longer. Yes, we may pay more for this work, but you get what you pay for! They have been in business a very long time, are insured, and put safety first. They do quality work, and protect your driveways and lawn. They clean up everything and leave the job site better than when they arrived. We trust them because they know this business and stay current on what is going on in forestry/entomology/lawn & shrub care. Definitely recommend them! read more

Heidi, one of their Arborists, came to my home and took a look at all of my pines and crabapples, this woman knows her stuff. The professionalism of this company is what you would hope to get with a company and you have it here. The cleanup job was phenomenal, I couldn't believe what a great job they did cleaning up, it put a huge smile on my face. At least I know who to call to get the job done right. read more

We had a number of large trees that needed major trimming. The branches went over my neighbors pool. The team of 5 showed up in clean professional uniforms. They went up into the tree and carefully removed a ton on branches. They also ground up two stumps. The clean up was extremely complete. Just a few days ago a different tree company worked on one of my neighbors trees. Old trucks, quick job and left a mess. I highly recommend Mike's Tree Surgeons! read more

Had the most difficult time getting anyone to actually show up for work that was estimated and scheduled months prior. My landcaper referred me to Al Sexton and he was out the next day. He showed up with a very large crew, and got the entire project done in 4 days (2 acres of 60' oaks, maples and white pines). Each day, they left the entire property clean. I could not ask for more from a arborist or tree surgeon firm. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone who needs serious tree trimming. Gregg S. read more

Tried to use these guys but they only interested in you if you spend thousands of dollars. Tried to just get some ash trees protected and they answer the phone, but don't ever actually respond. Update: they did respond but by mail. That explains the long delay, not sure why they couldn't just call. Went a different direction due to the delay for quote. Thought they were not interested. Changed to 3 stars as I think they should be better at this quote/timing. read more

Called to have an arborist diagnois a tree and recommend course of treatment. They explained the call would be $75--fine no problem. Ended up that I was able to get someone to come out quicker and found out the tree has to come down. I called back so as not to waste the arboists time I cancelled and requested someone to quote the tree removal. Much like many here, I was told they can't accept new customers because of a huge backlog. So if I had paid the $75 would they have been willing to put me in line for tree removal? It's a huge tree and it's going to be a small fortune to remove but I guess they just wanted my quick $75...... read more

My lawn had become so overrun with weeds. I have lived there for about 5 years and apparently lawn care is not my thing. I finally broke down and called Mike's Tree Surgeon based on a recommendation from a friend. The costs to have the lawn sprayed with weed control and fertilizer were less than I expected and after only 2 treatments I am now almost completely weed free!!! I couldn't be happier with the service thus far. read more

I had a tree fall in a small wind storm. I called these guys to see if I could get someone over right away (the tree was blocking my neighbor's driveway) and the lady who answered the phone just laughed at me and said they were about 4 weeks out for tree removal. It's one thing to be too busy to help, it's quite another to be rude about it. read more

Inaccurate billing & slow to do the work. Feb 14, 2017 I approved a quote to remove a large tree at my residence. By late May I'd heard nothing from them. I called to see if I'm even on their list. Was told they'd be out the next Tuesday. May 30 they TRIMMED the tree. June 16 I received a $775 bill for tree trimming. June 22 arborist acknowledged that they didn't do the work that was requested and indicated that he would send paperwork that I do not owe $775 for trimming. Would not provide any estimate of when they will do the work I actually approved. July 7, still no paperwork that I don't owe them $775 and the tree is still in my yard with no estimate of when or if the company will ever remove it. read more

Worth the wait!!!! We waited 5 weeks to have our tree cut down, but it was worth the wait. They are busy and now I know why. They were very professional, very knowledgeable and did a great job removing our very large tree. Another company actually told us that the job was too difficult and they wouldn't even give us a quote. Mike's Tree Surgeons had the necessary equipment to get the job done. They showed up on the day the job was scheduled. They were there on time each day and finished the job. The crew was very nice. They even removed other branches that were in our yard that were annoying. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. It was a great experience. read more

I did a lot of research when choosing an arborist to assess a very large silver maple very close to the house I recently purchased. I ended up choosing someone with a great background/credentials. And, then I'm chatting with my new next door neighbor and find out he uses the same company - Mike's Tree Surgeons. I had them do a full scope of pruning the large silver maple and putting a support cable as a prophylactic as well as pruning various ornamental trees and removal of some that were brutalized by winter and weed control/mulching. I was very particular about the natural type of pruning I appreciate and they were very respectful in following my specific direction. The team I worked with (Chris and Hunter) did a remarkable job as well as provided great customer service on top of being affable to deal with. I'm also now planning on using them for weed control and other services because of the experience I've had with them. read more

Having lived in the same house for 32 years, I've had a slew of tree trimmers. I can not say enough about the professional work that Mike and his workers did at my house and my client's house. After a thorough evaluation of each property, Mike's crew did an amazing job. The trees and bushes not only look aesthetically beautiful but are healthier and ready to withstand the next wind storm. They also included last minute additions to the work order and ground up a few large branches (without being asked) that had fallen before they arrived. read more
