I'd rate this company ZERO stars if I could. We tried this service for just this year but it's been horrible. Suffice to say that EVERYTHING the other comments have said are all true. There is NO WAY to talk with the local owner/vendor. Our grass went from beautiful to full of weeds ... the opposite of what is obviously the point of hiring them in the first place. We won't make this mistake again. Calling & complaining does no good because we only talk to the national call center ... wasted time & $$. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CEDAR RAPIDS TRU GREEN. Just fired them today. This location does really really poor work. They said they came and did my tree and shrub service yesterday. They were never here. They came to do my lawn aeration a month ago, and did less than half the yard, then took 3 phone calls to get them back out to redo it. Promised their tree and shrub package would save my half dead bushes (after looking at them). Now two years in half of them completely died and needed to be pulled. And they refused to cover under their guarantee stating they were too bad off to save. The yard consistently has dandelions, clover, crab grass. You are literally just handing over your money with these people. read more

Horrible!!! Last year, during one of the treatments, the "specialist was at the house for less than 15 minutes, supposedly applying a granular type treatment. I thought it was odd that he was at the house for such a short time so I inspected the yard and found absolutely no evidence of a granular fertilizer. The guy applied NOTHING! When you try to call someone, you can only talk to a national service center and they are no help whatsoever. They say they will have the local manager call but that never happens. I finally got someone to come retreat the area, but had to watch to make sure he did it. After the first application this year, the grass started to green up unevenly, so I took the attached aerial photograph. As you can see, they barely treated the back half of my yard. After several weeks trying to get someone to return my call, I finally just cancelled service. This company is HORRIBLE! They obviously do a poor job thinking nobody will notice. read more

Last year I had Both grass and Shrub coverage. They only showed up 3/4 times (I have Front/Back Cams). I was very disappointed when: (1) They did NOT show up, (2) Their Application showed NO results as advertised. I called the 800 number to cancel my service, that was NOT supposed to renew, and I get sales calls. Four call so far. They Harass me to renew the service, and when I don't, they swear at me and call me various terms. NO PROFESSIONAL. Most of the Harassment called I receive are from the 612 area code. read more

I filled out the online form to contact me about weeds in my yard and the form says to allow 24-48 hours for a call back. this was 2 weeks ago and no one has called or emailed me. This is my first year with them and i have more weeds than i ever have had. Supposedly they have used weed killer but i have dandelions, clover, chickweed, and a few others. I talked to a few others in my neighborhood and they have had issues this year also. I think we are all going to use someone else next year. read more

I filled out the online form to get pricing and at 8pm in the middle of me giving my daughter a bath, someone called me. I told them to call during normal hours. No one should be calling people at 8 at night. And not even an hour later, another person called. I'll be using a different service. One that knows better than to interrupt families at night. read more

I went back to Tru Green after a 3 year departure due some questionable practices by a tech. I gave them a try last year after I saw a lawn that looked good they serviced. BIG MISTAKE!!! There is no one in CR to speak with and if you do they do not follow through with what they say they will do. The 800 # even told me that the CR office has had some issues in answering their calls. The final straw was that they did not contact me and applied treatment on my lawn without asking me ( I am doing some reseeding) and charged my account. No paperwork was left as to what they did and as I said nobody in the CR office would speak with me. I cancelled after 4-5 calls and no response from CR. I will never use Tru Green or endorse them in anyway. POOR MANAGEMENT. read more

I give ZERO stars.. I have had this company spray my lawn for 2 years now and I've finally decided to get rid of them. I have WEEDS dandelions all over my lawn. I called and they said some weeds are harder to get rid of than others and they would come spray again. I still have dandelions all over my yard. I would be embarrassed if I were them putting my TRUGREEN sign in my yard with a yard FULL of dandelions. I could go to Menards and get weed killer cheaper than what I pay them and I would actually KILL the weed! read more

I discovered today that my lawn was treated and neither me or my husband asked to have it treated. We are very adamant about not using chemicals in our yard and now I have no idea how much was treated, if it got in my flower beds, etc. I am not happy and this company must lose a lot of money treating yards for people that don't want their services!!! read more

I have used Trugreen for years. Up until now, we were happy w/ their service. The last treatment we received from Trugreen, KILLED MY LAWN!!! And not just a few spots! I can't get anyone out there to get it fixed! I called them this morning to find out why no action was taken from my phone call early this week. This was my 3rd call to them!!! Apparently my Monday phone call went undocumented!!! GREAT SERVICE??!!?? I THINK NOT!!!!! Since I know their calls are all recorded, I asked them to pull my recording from Monday - I still had it on my phone what time I called (it was a 12 minute phone call). I'm still waiting for a response. Truegreen is OK until something needs resolved - this is where you have problems getting them to fix their f-up. They show no loyalty to long-time customers. read more

We signed up with them and had young kids actually running around the yard with the chemicals. The second application, the kid burned our grass in several large spots with a chemical spill. His comment was "It will grow back"! We tried to get them to come out but it took 3 calls and each time they said they would return the call but didn't. I wanted to have something done but they said it happens and nothing is done. We want to discontinue the service but can't get the local office to answer. I would never recommend this service to anyone and hopefully some one reads this and won't happen to them. read more

we have had them out spraying our yard for weeds and our yard is the worst looking one in the entire neighborhood. We have brand new sod and we thought it was maybe the sod however our family has trugreen spray in Atkins and they said there yard looks just as bad as ours. Have new house with about a 1/2 acre yard. Signed up with TruGreen for fertilizer and grub control. Worker came over and unhappily mentioned I had a steep backyard and started walking around the house. I was particularly interested in how he was going to spray the whole yard, so I watched him the whole time he was here. He sprayed just a couple of spots and stuck a couple of flags in the lawn and left all within about 3 minutes. We got a bill for $80 a few days later and was told by their customer service that he sprayed the whole yard and spent 15 minutes. Customer service backed their guy and offered no help. I called their customer service again later and cancelled our contact. They offered no refund. read more

I called them to get some info on their services and wanted to think about it. After some thinking, I told them no but they would not stop calling me! I don't know how good their lawn services are, but I can tell you that their pushy style has pushed me towards someone else! read more

Overall I have been pleased with the services contracted for. There have been a few occasions that I had some weeds appear not long after treatment, but this occurred with other providers as well. I am not fond of the multiple phone calls trying to up-sell additional services. read more
