I've been going to this tru-fit for about a year now, and all in all, you get what you pay for. A pretty cheap membership (about 15$ a month). And at the end of the day, it gets the job done if you need to work out. No frills. Now that being said this gym has terrible bathrooms (at least the men's bathroom since I'm a man). Like it smells like poo/mildew/B.O./Sweat all at the same time, and it's weirdly always humid in there? I don't even know, I try to spend as little time in the bathroom as possible. I'm pretty sure that's the place where diseases go to spread . The lockers are functional at the most. The floors are nasty so don't go walking around barefoot or in socks . Also, as of recent, I assume there isn't much of a maintenance crew to clean things, I mean it's always nasty in the bathrooms, but recently I have seen some effort to clean the lockerooms, but that being said, there has been a few times when I've been in there changing, and then like 3 female employees just waltz in the men's bathroom to clean. So I appreciate the effort to clean, but come on, like that's not cool. If you were to reverse the sex's there (men going into the woman's bathroom) that would fly like a lead brick. I'm usually not the type to run to yelp and complain but I feel like people just need to know what they're getting into. As far as the equipment goes, it's functional for the most part, no real complaints there. It's a bit old but it works. The front desk crew is spotty, sometimes you get super Awsome friendly guys or girls up front, and sometimes they are brain-dead and just stare at you. lol. read more

Billing issues. Cancellation was not processed correctly and I continued to be charged. Billing is handled through ABC Fitness, which made it difficult to resolve. If you run into issues, you can file complaints with the BBB and Texas Attorney General. read more

They claim you are not in s binding contract and you may leave when you like, however you are in fact in a binding contract and may not leave until you follow through with the end of the contract. Read the small print my dumb butt did not and now I have to pay for a whole other month I'm not there, plus the yearly maintance fee. They do not keep there gym as clean as they should, I would never use their shower or bathrooms because of this and that made going to the gym difficult at times. Just be careful. read more

This place does a really crappy job of communicating issues with the pool and all the closures it seems to experience. The dome hasn't even been on for more than a couple of weeks and the pool is now closed for another two weeks for maintenance issues....one time I actually called before I went up there to ask if the pool was open. I was told it was open so I went up there, walked past the desk going to the pool and it was closed....this last time I walked past the desk where three employees were hanging out; they all saw my pool noodle as I walked past them in flip flops. No one bothered to tell me the pool was closed...AGAIN. I walked out there to discover the pool was about a foot lower in water level than normal and someone had made it a point to throw the picnic table and a bunch of chairs into the pool. When I left, I told the three people at the desk they might want to tell ppl the pool is closed or put up a sign. He pointed to a sign on the desk that you only see when you are leaving. It's like the people who run this place are a bunch of high Skool kids who did a nice job of trashing the pool; leadership here is nonexistent or just a huge fucking joke. read more

My sister and I come here, we really enjoy this place because of the women's only area. The facility is clean and the environment is great! Ever since the previous GM Chris left 82nd, this location has been riddled with extremely poor management. Today my fiancé was singled out and targeted for what he was wearing to the gym. Nothing about what he was wearing was out of the ordinary or even different from what he usually wears to the gym. There's a real "mean girls" vibe to the current management that is so incredibly unprofessional and honestly, cant be taken seriously. When I pointed out to management that there were other men wearing something similar to what my fiancé was wearing they asked me to "point out" who and that they would go to speak with them. To which I responded, no, because I am not the one with a problem with what ANYONE here is wearing. It only seems to be you. So, since you claim this is "policy" and the "rules need to be followed" how about you go walk the floor and enforce the rules with EVERY member here instead of targeting and singling out my fiancé. The AGM (her name is Jac, not sure if she's AGM) then went and "skimmed" the floor and went back to chit chat with her friends at the front desk and then later at her desk. I watched her from upstairs on the cardio machines. She did not speak to anyone, therefore did not enforce this "rule" with any other member. We asked to see the rule, since she claimed it was an actual rule that is stated somewhere in the gym or in contracts, and she then brought us a paper that ONLY stated that "any written or verbal rule given to a member by an employee needs to be followed." We have been members of trufit in Lubbock since August 2019 and this particular "issue" this woman had with my fiancés clothes today has NEVER been an issue at any of the locations. Apparently, and this was her initial reasoning, "if i cant show mine, then it's not fair that you show yours." This isn't the first time we have had an issue with trufit targeting and singling us out unfairly. The last time this resulted in us getting banned by a higher up from all locations to which then the GM of the individual gyms actually REACHED OUT TO ME and asked for us to please come back because what resulted was not fair to us read more

Jac copley a female manager was telling me they had to hold one of my belongings either phone or keys, which felt very illegal and i felt very harassed and embarrassed, til we made a payment that was only 4 days late, and we were not allowed to workout, eventho i've been going for 3+ years and have never missed a payment. She handled the situation very very poorly and even raised her voice infront of other customers. read more

Horrible everything is blamed on transitioning from Bodyworks to TruFit. I've tried cancelling my PT several times. I thought I needed a PT to help me transition back to the gym because I have sciatic pain turns out I just needed Yoga! I told Thayne this and of course he's not going to tell me his place of employment could help me vs. spending money with him. I've finally filled out the paper work to cancel and to stop taking money out of my account I even took a pic of it as the General Manager was filling it out for me & I took a pic just for my records guess what???? They are still taking money out of my checking account. Listen you don't need a personal trainer for anything other than for....nothing!! You don't need a trainer, this gym is well equipped with all types of classes so you can avoid a PT, don't get one it's money down the drain. Lesson learned. read more

Overall, the facilities are very nice but DO NOT take advantage of any promotions or sign up if you are not 100% positive you want a long-term membership. They will make every attempt to scam you out of your money. I signed up for a 7-day free trial and went to cancel on the 4th day. Due to some miscommunication, I was signed up for a standard membership and I had to submit a 45-day notice to cancel since I did not cancel withing 3 days. Then later I noticed I was being charged after 45 days and was eventually told a membership cannot be cancelled in the first 90 days, so I had to pay that full amount plus some annual charge I was never told about. During all this time, I made many phone calls back and forth with corporate and the club with everyone telling me it's the other's job. I spoke to the GM and many employees and none of them would do anything for me. I even asked for a copy of the contract I signed, and I was never given it. When I finally got an email address for the club's admin, they claimed they had no cancellation form on file and could not give me a refund "but out of courtesy, they will stop the payments". I then send a picture of the signed cancellation form that I took when I submitted it and they said they would look into the account. After many follow ups and weeks later, they refuse to respond. It's a shame it had to come to me leaving a bad review because I am a very understanding and patient person, but after fighting this for months, I was scammed out of $300 for a free trial. read more

I just got completely scammed at TrueFit on 82nd street. The pictures online show the pool is uncovered. I walked in with a sun hat, sunglasses, and a pool cover up (clearly not coming to swim laps) and the people at the front desk gladly let me buy a $15 day pass without mentioning the pool is actually completely covered. I came back to ask them for a refund and they said they could not give me one. I think it's ridiculous the people at the front desk saw what I was wearing and didn't mention one time that the pool was covered. Very disappointing. read more

He was able to get the $145 the company removed from our account, returned and stated we would no longer be billed for PT going forward. Although this took some doing, I was very pleased he was able to make this happen. During all of this Patrick was very professional. I appreciate that they put customer service above profits. I enrolled online for a free trial, somehow I ended up signing up for a year membership through following g their step by step process. Bottom line I got a pass for my wife, son and myself. We went twice and decided this gym wasn't for us for various reasons such as broken equipment, lack of cleanliness, and bottom line second rate run down gym. The employees at the 82nd street location are nice, however Nick Vilespi/Duleski (whichever name he decides to give out) has dodged our calls, won't return calls, I've gone up to the 19th street location to have him walk me through the cancellation process. He won't return calls. Today he told my wife that we can't cancel because we signed up online even that it clearly states free trial membership. He told her that she's a moron and to "go suck a dick" before hanging up on her. I drove up there immediately, asked for him and basically told him you can't talk to woman like that. He got all wormy, looked over at another employee and asked if he didn't that on the phone. Funny thing is he knew exactly who I was and who he was on the phone with, boom!!!!! He told my wife he was the regional manager and there was not anybody above him. When I met him face to face, I told him I did t want to speak to him to find somebody higher up. He acted like a little child, started mocking me and making faces. I told him he didn't want this and I was the wrong one, he walked off and grabbed the real operations regional manager Whisper Lame. Come to find out this employee is just the general manager. As he was getting his boss I asked the employee that was standing next to him if she heard the phone call, she said she didn't. Whisper attempted to help which basically made me feel like it was protocol to not cancel any membership. She told me that I could only cancel if I had a lease agreement I'm another state. I provided it right there at that very moment. She told me that my lease was out dated, I explained to her to read the fine print and that it in fact was not out dated. She told me she would have to verify the lease was active. I told her I would provide her for anything g she needed, she refused. She had me take a picture of a piece of paper that requests cancellation, however it wasn't an actual cancellation form. I was informed I would be notified if my cancellation was granted. So bottom line my free trial online is a con and you will be tricked into a non cancelling membership. If you're a family man you will be notified your wife can suck a dick. The employees are either scabs or robots. Quick food for thought, How do you think they're going to react when I start coming in their everyday as a paying member recking house?!?!? I hit the gym 6 days a week twice a day for 1-2 hours at a time. Gym is my life and I'm about to take full advantage of this situation. $90/month..... lol this is about to get real. read more

The one star review is due to contract cancellation issues and poor customer support. The gym and amenities are great. The staff is great. Just be willing to never get out of a contract. Get COPIES of everything. Have your attorney read it first and explain what you don't realize your are agreeing to. (Think legal counsel too high? Don't, it will save you money.) Don't trust them to do the RIGHT thing. Assume that the nice guy up front knows nothing about memberships. Assume you are being told the wrong thing. When one person tells you how incompetent the previous people are it should make you pause. Just don't sign up. Go somewhere else. No contracts. The park is free. read more
