Each time I have been there most people have been at best apathetic, and at worst out and out rude. One time my wife and I were there a worker behind the tool rental counter was literally yelling and cursing because he had to wear an effing mask (not his words, I cleaned it up for this review). 2 weeks ago I stopped in to purchase some canning jars. They were quite literally right next to the registers, so In less than a minute I loaded a cart with the 5 cases they had, and went to one of the 2 checkouts. The lady at the register was quite old, while the other was very young. I say this only as a means to differentiate between the two. I am also old. As I waited, the checker stopped ringing up the customer, and just talked with him. I figured small town, and they were catching up, no big deal. Except it became a big deal. A HUGE deal. The second checker ran up 5 customers while I stood next in line at the talkers register. I finally turned my cart and went over to the other register. The old checker and her customer actually laughed that I had moved lines, and made jokes about me being in too big a hurry. The guy said I am retired I have no place to be. I was so mad I felt like smashing the jars and walking out. But as this was the 3rd place we had been looking for jars, I swallowed my anger and waited another few minutes for my checker to finish 2 more customers before me. As I got up to her register. The old lady finally finished ringing up her customer's gallon of paint, paint brush, and couple of screws. When I got out to the car my wife asked if I had trouble finding the jars. It turns out I had been in the store over 20 minutes, and she was just about to come in and see what was taking me so long. When I related the story to her, she said I don't know why we keep coming back here. They are always so rude. I have always tried to patronize small hardware stores over big box stores because I have always had excellent customer service from such places. Green Ace True Value in Standish is definitely the exception to the rule. I will never again step foot in that store. I will go to the hardware store in Skidway Lake, or Home Depot in West Branch. Both offer stellar customer service. If you want rudeness, and apathetic customer service this is the place for you. If not, I suggest literally anyplace else.

We became very acquainted with Caseville hardware as they were close. So we were in there constantly for paint,plumbing and electrical supplies,tools, yard decorations etc. Also many many propane fill ups for our BlackStone grills and our toy hauler. So my point is we were regulars in buying from them. So when we spent over $200.00 dollars on our golf cart battery we figured they were local and just higher on things. Fast forward to today 9/9/25 at 9:30am when I returned to the store after a rude employee telling me on Monday he didn't do warranty's and come back so I came back today. Talking to the owner and a gentleman today they told me that they were sorry I'd lost my receipt in all that I'd bought there in the past almost 2 years but they couldn't help me and the battery code that it was made in June 23 and probably shipped to them in August 23 and our purchase in Oct 23 would be out of warranty. It's unfortunate that trust with a loyal customer means nothing when you as a customer put up with over charges and hit or miss assistance from employees or the fact that they don't stand behind a trusted brands hassle free warranty stated on the product with date codes. Sadly they lost our business as we owned our own companies prior to our retiring and thats not how we did warranty work or customer service. Now we will drive farther just to get better service rather than doing business with them anymore.
