Coffee 'however you like it' says the chalkboard. Good. It was early in the morning. I kept dropping things. I needed caffeine. Very friendly barista called me 'darlin' and managed not to be creepy (no mean feat), and made me a drop dead fab cuppa. There's a couple of wooden tables inside, and a counter where you can sit and chat. He knew everyone else who came in by name, so the place is clearly a local fav, and with coffee that good, I'm not surprised. It's the little touches too - sugar is of the unprocessed, dark variety which made the coffee all caramelly, the chalkboard menu advertised babycinos to be paid by a donation to the RSPCA. The waffles were cheap and smelled divine (sadly, I'm not able to eat them or I'd give you the lowdown), and that early Thursday morning this little place was peopled by nearly silent, serious coffee drinkers looking out through the stained glass onto Katoomba Street. Felt more innercity than you'd expect from Katoomba, but mixed with that local friendliness that makes the Mountains more relaxed than uber cool. As I left I still dropped half the contents of my purse, but was so chilled I didn't care quite so much.

Nice cozy place! Serve a lot of organic items; barista is very nice and attentive; hot chocolate and waffles are unbelievably delicious!

Still, I'm a big online fan because otherwise I can spend half a day looking for somewhere to eat. And the online menu does say they love people with allergies. However there is no mention of gluten or gluten free on the menu. Maybe this is related to the tightening of Australian rules into "gluten friendly" rather than gluten free. Since their specialty is hot sandwiches, I'm up in the air on the gluten front. If they will allow choosing from the sides and extras menu, that would be perfect. I also like how many of their prices have stayed reasonable, with five dollar coffees, I don't know if I can eat them but their egg sandwiches for Brekky look positively dreamy.

What a unique interior- hard to explain but almost like being on a ship. They told us they have a business in Alaska and fish for their own salmon and transport it here so of course I had to try the special. It was fantastic. Can't eat it like a sandwich so ask for a fork :) Hubs had the Deli Rose and loved it. Ate every bit. Friendly service, lots of languages spoken here. Loved it Aussie 43.50

The waffles are fresh, with all the trimmings, coffee is improving also. It is a quaint little dining area with only 10 or so seats and no bookings are taken. Food and drinks are always delivered to your table within a reasonable time frame. I am not a hot coffee drinker, but asked my coffee-fiend friend what she thought of hers (I believe she had a regular cappuccino) and she couldn't fault it. I had some of their famous waffles which are SO DELICIOUS. The fruit is fresh and they make the waffles right there (no re-heating). I also tried a cupcake and a macron and they were yummy (it was a big day for my stomach). I also like how they've started to introduce gluten-free and dairy-free options, as some of my friends can't tolerate gluten or dairy. The interior is quirky and vintage land which makes it stand out in Penrith. Waffle Co reminds me of one of the funky and hip cafes you'd find down a back alley in Melbourne, except it's in western sydney! It really does make it stand out from the regular run-of-the-mill cafes around here.
