Horrible service. Asked for half an inch off and got 2 inches off with uneven sides. Will never be coming here ever again. Barbers are rude and not well trained. Unfortunately I can't recommend true barber again. After my second visit, the haircut was a lot more rushed, and I was asked to pay when I was expecting a hot towel treatment. The hot towel is supposedly included in the price... The haircut itself, I had to touch up at a sports clips, imagine that. I don't know why there's such a difference between my first and second visit, but I'd be sure not to come back again. Consistency is key for a barbershop, and true barbers doesn't have that. read more

I stumbled upon this barbershop while running an errand a few weeks ago. My husband usually cuts my son's hair but since he's deployed I decided to get him a professional haircut. Booking my appointment was fairly easy. I created an online account and booked my appointment in about 10 minutes. The site allows you to choose your barber, day, time and services you'd like to add. When we arrive they checked us in and had us take a seat while the barber finished up his client. There were 3 barbers, jazz music playing and a pretty chill atmosphere. When it was my son's turn we gave the barber (Carlton) a photo of what he wanted and the service began. My son got a nice cut, wash and concluded with a hot towel on his face (he loved that part). After the service we paid got a business card and they invited us back again. This was a great experience. My son enjoyed it so much we will be booking his next appointment soon. read more

Everything about True Barbers makes it a good experience, besides the actual haircut (the most important part, I know). The place is clean and has a unique and elegant fee with maroon walls and gold mirrors. The barbers are friendly and there are three large leather chairs to sit in while waiting. They offer complimentary water and coffee which is nice. Another bonus is this place is opened on Sundays whereas many barbers are closed on that day! However, when it comes to the actual haircut, it felt very rushed and did not seem liked they cared what the outcome was in terms of style. The equipment used was extremely dulls and almost felt like the electric blades were on low battery as it was a ROUGH haircut. The low quality clipped seemed to kept getting caught in my hair and would not flow as you'd expect a clipper to do. At a price of $28 it was just an OK cut and feel like there are better options. read more

The haircut nightmare we all have about chosing a new Barber. You don't know who ACTUALLY knows how to cut YOUR hair. Imagine walking into a very nice place, comfortable couches, and a reception person greeting you. As you explain this is your 1st time in their establishment you have 2 very different personalities to choose from to cut your hair. One the one hand, you have an older gentleman who looks like he could be your uncle and probably knows how to cut your hair. On the other hand, someone with blue punk rock hair who you wouldn't expect to know how to cut your hair. While you try to make it clear that you would be more than happy to wait on unc the reception person forces you into the other barbers chair. I very reluctantly walk over to his chair, as I don't want to make a scene and he works here right, how bad could he be? Well I would soon find out. I asked for my curly hair to be cut WITH the grain, first think punk rock does is comb AGAINST the grain, first warning sign to get out of this chair and run. Next when I think he's just getting started he thinks he's finished. I asked him to move to a 1/8 guard and he says "so you want me to take it lower?" Where am I at? How did I get here? UNC HELP!!!! To add insult to clear injury, the reception person then asks if I enjoyed my experience while looking into the windows of my, now, diminished soul. I pause, give him the you know he f*&k my ish up look and you set me up and said "yes" but NO! NO I didn't enjoy it! He didn't cut my hair evenly and I will never sit in his chair again. I've been coming to True Barbers for about a year now. I finally got feed up with the Sports Clips and places like that where every time you go you have a different barber. I like that I can reserve an appointment online with the barber I want and I like the way they cut my hair and the little extra touches. It is a bit more expensive but in my opinion is well worth the money. read more

We were looking for a spot last minute for my boyfriend to get a hair cut. It was 5:15 on a Saturday night. We found True Barbers online and decided to give it a shot, because it was one of few open past 5 on Saturdays. When we got there, he were seated immediately. Carlton was super nice and willing to take a walk in on short notice. He did such a amazing job. The fade was perfect and exactly what we were looking for! It was $28 and definitely worth it! I started to go to this barber salon post-pandemic because mine had shutdown. I walked in, and was grateful to get any haircut as unfortunately it had been awhile. I was seen by an African-American lady (don't remember her name) with a great personality. But I found she was very aggressive with the clippers, and unconscientious of hair falling on my face. Hair on the face, while itchy, and aggressiveness with the clippers was a potent mix. So I decided to avoid the days the aforementioned barber worked (fridays & Saturdays). I thought it best to try my luck with a different barber on a walk in basis. My first haircut with Robin was satisfactory. I wanted a light-fade, and got more of an all-even but she was a lot more attentive. I could tell she did her best. I've been going to another place in Broadripple called The Barber Salon, and love it. But I needed another haircut last minute, and it was booked. So I figured I'd make an appointment with Robin. An all-even is better than no haircut at all. I called to inform that I live 30 minutes away and that I'd be slightly late due to rush hour traffic. The lady at the desk informed me that if I arrived at 6:10pm I'd have to reschedule. Pure honesty, I pulled up at 6:07 and walked in at 6:08. I was denied service after risking a ticket on 116th, because the barber, desk clerk, or both decided to change the rules. I will NEVER go back. The unprofessionalism is astounding. read more

NEVER HAD TO STOP A CUT UNTIL HERE. Went in for a cut because I have a family reuinion and Gregory an upset dude. He just kept getting angrier with me and I had a photo of what I needed. I have long shaggy hair and it's hard to mess up really but Gregory violated the cut. Everything is uneven and when I showed him the same photo and he just got angrier "this isn't what you told me" I had the photo up the entire time and just asked to shape it up and to use the photo as reference. I was met with nothing but hostility and passive aggression. I get we all have bad days but this is unacceptable, the barber shop is always a place where you can rely for respect and trust and I saw non of that. He said my hair is taking "too damn long" and he had another appointment. Then he proceeds to get a buzzer and rip through my hair unevenly and in a hurry. I didn't realize it would take long to cut my hair but at least I felt like just a number to this guy. I showed a photo to my girl post cut and she cried. I had to go back in to tell him this is the worst cut I've ever received (and I shaved it one time). I didn't get charged but damn man fix your issues before cutting people's hair and don't treat people like shit. Friendly, professional service. The sign in the window says "We fix $7.99 haircuts," and there's a lot to truth to that. My hair was pretty mangled from a discount haircut elsewhere, and after a cut from Tara it looks as good as ever. Had a great experience at True Barbers with a Barber named Said. I went to get a straight razor hot shave. I wanted a professional to do this today because I had been sporting the "scruffy but groomed" short beard for the winter. I felt it was time to go back to the professional clean shaven look and didn't want to mess with this at home. I usually use an electric razor and I knew that I'd probably nick myself a hundred times and have razor burn, etc if I did my own grooming. Said was great. He was professional, well dressed, thorough and an overall great guy. He used several different types of hot, warm and cold towels and a lot of different good smelling and soothing products. I left there looking and feeling great. I will definitely be back and I will look for Said to do my future services. I'm thinking about taking my son out for a guy's day for his 15th birthday and I think we'll start here. read more

Had a great experience here with Terrance as my barber. Extremely friendly staff with comfortable atmosphere (and fancy leather chairs to hang out in, in case you have to wait). I set an appointment for 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and was about 15 minutes late due to traffic. Terrance was still waiting for me as soon as I walked in the door and was extremely friendly and easy to talk to. I haven't been to many barbers in my time so I didn't give 5 stars, but overall the experience was awesome and even my wife couldn't stop talking about how good I looked! Thanks, Terrance! Oh, and for the record, someone wrote a review saying that True Barbers essentially "pays" for your 5-star review by offering a $5 discount on your next cut... This is simply NOT TRUE. The gentleman at the front desk kindly informed me that if I wrote a review (and specifically told me it could be good, bad, or indifferent!), and let them know about it on my next visit, I would receive $5 off my next haircut. The chair I sat in faced 180 degrees from the outside windows and faced a dirty mirror that was nearly impossible to actually see my reflection. After showing my barber the extremely obvious deficiencies in my hair cut, I accepted what I could barely make out in the mirror. He then got out the straight razor and proceeded to take half the width of my sideburns. I am familiar with straight razor use and have never had anyone 'line' me up with it any more than just a touch up. I didn't ask for the 'thug special' and don't like my new skinny sideburns. When I got home to a mirror I could actually see in, I was shocked at just how bad my hair was. The fade is 1-2 inches above my ear on one side and easily 3-4 above the ear on the other side. There are numerous different lines of hair that aren't even close to the length as the rest. Very disappointed in this haircut. Can't believe I paid $30 for this! I could have gone to Sport Clips and got this same cut for half the price! read more

The next day, Sunday, I gave him cash and sent him on his way. He had a great experience. He had a friendly male barber who also showed him how to jazz up his hair with some products.
