This has been my barbershop for more than 5 years. I drive well out of my way to get my haircut. I like the reliability of barbers that I know are going to do a great job. The shop is clean, family friendly and always has a good vibe. They get busy so make an appointment or call ahead if you can. They take walk ins but some times you've gotta wait. read more

I've gone back and forth about leaving this review. I hate to leave a bad one, but this gotta be the worst haircut I've gotten in years. After getting home I noticed so many missed hairs. I wanted a MID bald fade, but instead got a high and tight with uneven lines. I had to fix the missed hairs myself when I got home, which is something I never want to have to do fresh off a haircut. It took what seemed like forever. That's not usually a problem to me because I am in favor of taking your time if it means you will do a good job, but it took forever for a bad cut. Dude left cut hair all over me, didn't even try to clean any of it off. All other shops I've gone to will not only get that hair off of me, but they'll go out of their way to take the hair dryer and blow the hair off my shoes. This was just pure carelessness. I am not sure if Aydin was a new barber or what...but if so, that's something people should know before getting a haircut. I would have declined had I known that and gone elsewhere. What's unfortunate is that I have gotten one other cut there before. It was one of the better ones I have ever gotten. I don't remember that guy's name, but he was a pro. He was a sorta bigger guy, kinda remember him saying he was from south side maybe. (I could be wrong about that part.) He was great. This left a lot to be desired. Won't be going back. After moving to the Northside, I needed to find a new place to get a haircut. I wanted a no-nonsense, reasonably priced barber shop, not some fufu salon that charges $35+ for a simple men's haircut. I spent some time reading reviews and stumbled upon Str8-Edge. Given all the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try and am happy I did. I have been going to AZ now for a couple months and have had good experiences each time. They have an online scheduling system through a website called booksy, the link to which can be found from their Facebook page. Unfortunately, they are not open on Sundays. So if you're busy during the week like myself, Saturdays will have to do. They have a big TV that is always playing sports, most likely a European soccer game. I am a soccer fan, and these barbers know there stuff when it comes to soccer. A haircut costs $25. The only downside is they don't have the capability to add a tip to a credit card, so I always try to bring a little cash for the tip. Overall, highly recommend this place! read more

If I lived in the area, I would 100% go back and specifically request her. This is a good looking barbershop but when I get my haircut from somewhere that looks expensive I don't go in to get it cut by somebody that's in training or somebody that's not going to give me 100% of the barbershop. Especially when I pay $35 for a haircut and a beard trim and it looks like something that I can do myself. This place is clean friendly staff but every Barber their has to give a class A haircut. Worst haircut experience I have ever had. During my most recent haircut, the barber shaved my eyebrow off and then proceeded to charge me full price without a discount or help me. It seems barbers come and go there all the time, so you can never get the same barber who knows how to cut your hair and get the style you want. I've had 6 barbers in 6 different haircuts and all of them have screwed up. From putting product in my hair without asking, cutting too much hair off, and now shaving my eyebrow. I had gone to Said for years when he was at True Barbers, and I lived on the north side of Indianapolis. I always loved the haircuts he gave me. However, I moved back downtown Indianapolis over a year ago and started going to a different barbershop, as it was closer for me. I was two days away from getting married, when an appointment I had made a month earlier for a haircut at a barbershop downtown Indianapolis fell through. I immediately called Said at his new shop and explained my situation. He remembered me from when I used to come to him when he was at True Barbers. He stayed after his closing hours that very same day me to give me a haircut. I was very grateful for his kindness in what was a stressful few days of planning before my wedding. In town visiting for a work training trip to Indy and needed a haircut since my trip is 2 weeks. Staying at the Residence Inn had been online searching for a local barber that could do a fade and not mess it up (have had bad experiences before when traveling). Found "true barbers" barbershop and read their reviews and a ton of people kept referring to "Said" the barber and how great he was and how they wouldn't go anywhere else. So I had to find this guy. Just by searching his first name and the city name, Carmel he came up. I was able to book an appointment right through his site via Booksy. Best $25 I spent on this business trip so far! He was right on time finishing up his last appointment. He called me over by name which was cool and shook my hand. I first showed him what I wanted for my haircut (prior photo) he said no problem (medium fade). Good conversation during the haircut and very personable. At the end of the haircut I was amazed! Said gave me a mirror to verify his work, and specifically asked "is there anything that I might have missed or that you want me to change". I've never had a barber ask me that before (even if the barber gives you a mirror for you to verify I thought this was a sign of his professionalism) and I thought that is truly awesome and is what will set him apart from all of his competition. Said has been my barber for years and I'd follow him no matter where he relocated to (within reason of course). Aside from having a great personality, he is professional, highly skilled, dedicated, and takes pride in his work. I haven't been disappointed yet. I think he might be the only barber around Indy that knows anything about soccer, if that's your thing. I would recommend him to anyone.
