Our group of 8 rented bikes from Truckee River Bikes for the day. Noah and Tristen were very helpful helping us get our rental taken care of. There was another gentleman that helped us each choose a bike that best fit our needs. It was a simple and quick process and we were on our way! Unfortunately, one of us had a small fall and was unable to finish the ride around the river or even ride their bike back. Noah and Tristen were very concerned and offered to help. We were all so appreciative that they showed some compassion for our situation. It just showed that they care about their customers and really want them to have the best experience. I would highly recommend this bike rental company if you would love to see the beautiful sights of the Truckee River with a personable staff. read more

This bike rental spot seems like your average place in a touristy area; however, we were surprised at the lack of communication regarding expectations in order to rent an e-bike from here. We expected to ride our bikes for a mere 2 hours and looked ahead at the prices per hour, which we deemed reasonable. It's only when we come back from our 2 hour ride that we see we have collectively been charged $1,000 for a "deposit" regarding two bikes. Furthermore, this amount was never shared with us verbally or can even be found online. They then tried to charge the actual amount of the bike rentals on top of the $1,000. This is a hefty deposit for two bikes, and I've paid less to rent a boat for more than 2 hours. I don't want anyone else to be misled like I was, so I am leaving this review. I will never be back and I'll be sure to tell my family who vacations here annually, to also go elsewhere. It only gets two stars because the bikes worked for the two hours as bikes are expected to, just didn't appreciate the lack of communication and the shady business practices at play here. We will be following up with a letter to the chamber of commerce at Tahoe as practices such as these are predatorial. read more

Perfect location for getting bikes to ride the Truckee River trail! Three of us rented electric bikes for a few hours to ride the trail. The website was informative and the rental process easy. New to this sort of rental, so I can't speak to the relative cost situation. Location was good with easy access to the trail and lots of parking. Service was good, no issues and found them very helpful. Note the signs about where to return the bikes, it's off to the left of the shop. read more

The bikes are nice and the ride is so fun! Do the trail but rent your bikes from someone else!! The guy working there is incredibly grumpy and rude. Scores a 0 for customer service. He must have a screw loose. I don't even know why he was at work, because he didn't want to do any. Probably caused by all the weed we could smell on him. I thought that stuff was supposed to make you happy. Strange. For example, we asked if we could fill our water bottle there and he says, "that's what 7-11 is for", and points across the road. He was also rude to the people that came in after us, making them search for their own forms. I gave them to them. Their faces were dumbfounded. I don't want to take the time to write out all the little negative interactions we had with him in the 10 minutes we were there, but I could go on and on. I will say, it was so unbelievable that all we could do was laugh in disbelief as we rode on down the trail. read more

It was easy to park, rent and ride here. We got there when they opened and they had us on the bike path in a few minutes. Very helpful staff to review the bikes and help with our choice. From here we chose to ride along Truckee river to the west shore. It was a wonderful morning and I will definitely be back. read more

The good: The shop is upper convenient, right next to the river path and then bikes are in good shape and well maintained. There is also parking. The bad: the guys working there are snarky, especially Matt. He was rude with us and also with an older couple getting help after us. It ruined the entire vibe of the ride. read more

Was camping in Truckee with my husband and two little kids. We brought our bikes from home but after riding for a while noticed an important safety screw for the child seat attachment had come out somehow. We happened upon this place, and although we didn't rent bikes, the tram helped us out so we could be in our way. We rent bikes here whenever we're in the area during summer and don't feel like bringing our own bikes. It's conveniently located near the Truckee river trail to Tahoe city. The employees are constantly friendly and professional. The bikes are always in good condition. We were there last week and due to Covid they are doing everything outside and following proper procedures with masking and sanitizer. read more

Drove up with bikes last summer and my friend got a flat before we even unpacked. Since we were close to Squaw, camping on the Truckee River, I knew there was a bike shop at the entrance to Squaw. We drove over and I took the tire in. Normally, I would have fixed it myself, but we didn't bring tools - lesson learned. They had it fixed in less than 10 minutes, and we were back on the road within minutes. While we waited, we both were impressed with the large selection of bikes ranging from cruisers and MTBs, to e-bikes. They were all clean, and solid brands. I actually do marketing for the oldest bike shop in Sacramento. We don't rent bikes, but it's a must for any shop in Tahoe. read more

The two people manning the desk were rude and very unhelpful. It felt like pulling teeth just to get the lady to answer simple questions like "how do we rent a bike" and "where does the bike trail start?". This is our first time riding along the Truckee river and first time riding a bike in some time, so it would have been helpful to get any sort of guidance. Instead each question was met with a few word response as though we should have obviously known the information already. Take your services elsewhere, these employees have better things to do than help their customers. read more

Was starting the process of renting 5 bikes for the family and was asking questions. The lady at the front desk was really nice and helpful. While we were standing outside talking amongst our family about when we should rent and how long we should rent for, my 15 year old daughter was sitting still on one of their bikes just testing it out. That's when some dude with a partial face tat came out and told her she was damaging the bike by sitting on it and putting pressure on the pedals. Doubt it was true - but even if it was he was rude about it and made my daughter feel bad. We'll give one of the other dozen bike places in the area our business instead. Somehow we found this place. Quality rides and cool customer service. From afar, I saw this cool looking retro cruiser bike. My first thoughts: it's a heavy bike. An attendant quickly walked up to me. The friendly attendant said we have many kinds of bikes; bikes for wee ones, mountain bikes, fun bikes and cruisers. I said what about the cruiser? he said it's fast because it's built of light weigh aluminum. Of course, I wanted the big bruiser, er cruiser. In addition to being very easy to reach with lots of great parking and proximity to the Truckee River trail, this place has excellent service and great equipment for rent! Super fast service from clearly knowledgeable staff. We were able to drive right up, get the bikes we needed and get on our way! We have a large family group (10-15) folks that rent bikes from them each year. We ride from the shop down to Tahoe city and back along the trail. they are super helpful and friendly. The bikes are always in excellent condition. Very good prices too. There are many great places to stop along the river to fish, swim or just hang out. Great way to spend an afternoon! read more

Truckee River Bikes - Bikes Near Me - Olympic Valley, California

Our trio was up in Alpine Meadows for the weekend, and were deciding between a horseback trail ride or a bike rental. After comparing rates, it was gonna be $35 an hour for the horse (in a group, maintained), or $10 an hour for a bicycle where you could head wherever at your speed. We chose Factory Bike, after driving by on Highway 89 a couple times. They gave us rates over the phone because it wasn't listed on the site, but that was awesome! Showed up at 2pm and were immediately greeted by a gentleman outside. After gauging our interest (and we had already decided yes), he directed us inside to a second guy who had us fill out a waiver. There's a $100 deposit per bike, but they worked with us and explained all of the potential holds/etc. After that 5 minutes, we were on our way! Two of us were on cruiser bikes, and the third was on a hybrid tall enough for him. This was such an awesome idea, and these two guys made it friendly and filled us with courage (I probably needed it the most). They directed us down Highway 89 and told us how to get onto the bike trail that parallels the river. This was probably the best thing we did all weekend, and it was totally affordable. We did a 10 mile ride total, but we won't be hurting until tomorrow. I'll definitely be back! Rent from these guys and ride down to the river on the awesome bike trail, instead of getting stuck in Tahoe City congested traffic. read more

This place is the best! They are right on the turn into Squaw Valley if you are going on HWY 89. I had a little voice in the back of my head saying "bike ride! bike ride!" as I often noticed the bike trails and roadways into Squaw Valley filled with people doing just that. The only trouble was it had been 22 years since I rode a bike! I loved my Raleigh Breeze 10-speed, the bike I graduated to and rode all over town after I ditched the training wheels on my sister's old bike. Full disclosure: I was a rather timid child and didn't learn to ride a bike until I was 8, and my older sister "taught me" by LETTING GO (I promptly fell on the pavement) and teaching me the WRONG hand signals (Death wish, anyone?) I love you sis, but REALLY. Anyhow, I was about a DEFCON level one when I realized I was actually going to do this, but the guys in Factory Bike calmed me down with a little banter and set me up on a sweet vintage-y bike with fat tires and simple controls. I even got a bike helmet (none of those in my day!). The bike was in excellent condition and once I got the feel of things I was off on an adventure, and I guess it's true what they say, "It's like a riding a bike"...I didn't forget how to do it but balancing, getting started, and stopping, were definitely a challenge at first. In the end I had a blast and really enjoyed the whole process. It was $10 for my hour of two-wheeled fun, and I got to enjoy the beautiful vistas of Squaw Valley as well. I largely stuck to the bike/walk trails but also drove around the Village a bit. People were very nice on the trails and rang bells or told me "bike on your left" as they passed me. I can't imagine a better deal, location, or choice of bikes for a fun afternoon or day of bike riding. Highly recommend! read more

Watch you wallet. Way overpriced. No exactly honest. We were told bike rentals for the day was $35. Charged us $50. For a crappy bike. Conveniently there was a sign clearly saying $50/day that took precedence over what we were told verbally. The overall experience was a lot like getting fleeced by a used car salesman. Owner did not care that we were the only customers he had seen in days (during off season). The best part of this place is the music. read more

Excellent service, reasonable prices. I brought my family with two kids and a baby. Owner and staff were helpful in getting the kids properly fitted on their bikes, and gave us excellent tips on best paths to ride. Prices were exactly as quoted. Only thing I didn't like about riding around Squaw was that there seems to be a complete lack of bike etiquette on the trails. People don't call out when they are passing and a few riders actually yelled out at the slow pace my kids were riding. Maybe it's just me, but when you are riding your bikes anywhere near a resort, kids and different levels of ability are a given. You can't ride like it's the Tour de France, people!!! But Factory Bike is a great place to rent. read more

The bikes were ok but they overcharged me, acted like a jerk. There were 5 of us, by the time we got helmets, adjusted the seats, ten minutes went by. We I brought back the bikes 70 minutes later they charged me for an 75 minutes. He told me we were there 4 minutes later than we were, his own wall clock and my watch were in agreement, unlike his watch, JERK. I did not want to have a ugly thing with my group right there, so I paid the extra., felt a bit ripped! To be totally honest the guy who set us up with bikes, showed us the gears, adjusted the seats, was really great. read more

I rented a bike last 4th of July. It was a busy and a fun day around the area. I made a reservation to rent a bike the day prior and it was an easy process. There was no extraordinary service experience I can share, the front desk was good, the guy who showed be the bike was ok. The bike I rented worked well and that was basically what I am just hoping for so due to that, everything was great. The facility has a PERFECT location so that is a wonderful thing, close to Squaw Valley and Truckee River. read more

We needed to get two bikes looked over, and dropped them off at Factory Bike. They were both completed the next day, and we were actually told some of the items we originally thought needed replacement (ie. brake pads) were ok. Lady was rude we approached business without wearing a mask (we were outdoors not even inside) she told us to put masks on ... we told her we wanted to rent a bike and she repeated herself to "put on a mask" ok that wasn't a problem some people want a mask worn outdoors I respect that.. my daughter touched one of the bikes she said out loud "please don't touch the bikes!" Ok so I told my daughter to not touch the bike... my daughter gently touched a different bike after that to tell me that's the bike she wanted and the lady barked again "don't touch the bikes!" kind of an awkward encounter not really customer service friendly... so I filled out waiver and I asked how much deposit was $100 per bike so $300 total for the three bikes !!!!!!! Unbelievable I don't care that the money goes back on account that's intense I've rented bikes many places I've never heard of such a high deposit..... I told her ok I'll pass and she didn't seem friendly about it she seemed annoyed like we wasted her time. Like at least say "ok have a good day" I don't know customer service and common courtesy goes a long way. read more

Just rented a tandem bike for a date night river exploration of the Truckee River. They were incredibly helpful, the bikes are in great shape and this place is literally located right on the Truckee River bike trail. I think it would be silly to rent somewhere else if you are between Truckee and Tahoe City. read more
