Was lucky enough to be one of their very first patrons on Opening Day and scored a booth which was a bonus novelty considering their gimmick as an American diner. Upon first glance the menu will have you drooling but be prepared to part ways with a $20 note for a meal. Stopped by around noon and it wasn't that busy since it was a work day yet I had to wait over 30min for my meal which seems like an eternity when you're on a lunch break. This place is literally a 10min drive from home and the fact that I haven't rushed back suggests that its flavours and value aren't strong enough to sway my loyalty away from competitors. read more

Nice food. More mid to western America than NY which is nice. Tangy sauces and pickles were great. I had hamburger, fries and a coke. $24 which is fairly expensive for Werribee. A burger without a side for $16 in the states would get laughed out of the country. Staff were friendly but place is very dark. The truck right at the entrance is off putting and makes the place feel small ( which it isn't). Recommendation: ditch the truck, turn up the lights, reduce the amount of staff(there were too many for the size) and reduce prices by about $2 or include side with burger. Is this a trucking good time? Truck Stop Deluxe doesn't reveal itself at first, until you walk in and you're greeted with a truck to the left and a long passage to what seems to be endless amounts of seats. It gets busy in here, so Truck Stop gets points for accommodating room for burger lovers. My experience wasn't all shiny. At first I saw lots of staff ignoring me and other guests for over 10 minutes. I didn't get their attention because I wanted to see how long it was before they stopped talking amongst themselves to offer a table to patiently waiting customers. I'm not convinced with the truck inside, it's great for the kids, but I feel like it's a waste of space. It's unexpected and cool at first, but then the effect wears thin. We tried the Fine and Dandy burger with grass fed patty, American cheddar, tomato, lettuce & special sauce on a toasted brioche bun. The main attraction was disappointing. The patty was nice, the special sauce is eerily similar to what's in the Big Mac sauce and the brioche bun is dry and tasteless. It's a nice burger that lacks the consistency and taste provided by the Theo burger at Huxtaburger and to a lesser extent burgers from 8bit. In short, lacks taste and uses one of the most ordinary brioche buns I have ever tasted in a burger. The Mac and Cheese Croquette were perhaps the most disappointing sides I have had. It was large, but void of any taste. They should take note from Rockwell and Sons here. The Crème Brûlée spiked milkshake with vanilla and brandy didn't include the toffee praline, which was strange as it was on the menu. On the plus side, I can recommend the awesome Trucker Fries and the expensive Kinder Surprise spiked milkshake with Nutella, Frangelico, Baileys and a special surprise (it's really expensive, so weigh that up, it does taste amazing). The waitress did make up for the initial hiccup we had by providing excellent table service. In summary, I would try if you're in the area, but with ordinary burgers and a pricey menu, I would rather go to Huxtaburger or 8bit. read more

You cannot fault the ambiance of this kitschy American-esqe diner/truck stop; from its hollowed up truck cab booths, to its breezy deck flush with picnic tables overlooking the river, Truck Stop Deluxe is worth a visit simply to bask in the brilliance of great interior design. There are further cute and clever flourishes throughout (like the condiments stored in yellow and black tool boxes) which add to the overall visual appeal and atmosphere of the place. As for the food itself: those who are familiar with the simple and sweet all American burger restaurant will likely enjoy the experience as their tastebuds transport them instantly across the Pacific. The Fine and Dandy is true to its name sake: a simple burger with a typically American overly sweet bun, deliciously rounded ingredients and perhaps just a tad too much grease. For the price tag (which I found reasonable considering the quality) I'd take one of these over fast food any day of the week. Come with family, friends or just by your lonesome to enjoy a wholesome taste of the US. read more

Lots of room for improvement. During the two times that I've been I noticed that staff would chat and laugh amongst themselves while we waited to be served. The food is nothing to rave about either. Definitely not as good as establishments like 8Bit and Dude Food Man. read more

This is the 4th time I have been to the TruckStop in Werribee. Best meal was the 2nd time when I think the burger I had might have been the best burger I ever had in my life. 3rd time I went and ordered the same again. This time patties were overcooked and the burger was not as enjoyable, but still good. Went back tonight for the 4th visit, ordered the same again and... BURGERS ARE NOW ABOUT HALF THE SIZE THEY ONCE WERE... Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. Even more so when I queried the guy at the counter about the size discrepancy. He claimed the buns were smaller but that was it, which is not true. I know this because on every previous occasion, I have ordered the burger by itself and a beer and have been satisfied. Not today. The burger is now barely larger than a Big Mac and is not worth the money I paid. I went home unsatisfied and I doubt I'll ever go back there. The burgers used to be so tall you had to have a think about how you were going to attack it (and it was messy getting it down). Tonight's burger was only about 2 inches thick and I had no trouble wolfing it quickly. read more

We stopped in for a try because we are American. We had gotten a table but we had mom with us who wanted to pay for hers separate. We were told they would not separate bill so we offered to get hers standing at counter while we got ours at the table and she could join us after she got hers and they told us that was not allowed which I thought was ridiculous when there were a remaining 4 at the table. They advised that we could sit outside and get all orders there which we didn't want to do on a cool night with an 85 year old with us so we opted to grab a few sides and move on to look for another place to eat. The sides were tasteless and were discarded in the trash when we got to the next place and the onion rings were cold. Coming from America, that kind of customer service would never have been allowed. The manager was rude and basically told us they could give the table to someone else so they weren't concerned when I said I would not be back. With how we were treated, the best tasting food in the area would not get me to go back but luckily, the food was nothing we wanted to go back for anyway. The place and people are nothing like America and I would never recommend this place to any of my American or Australian friends or family. read more
