Okay friends. Something changed perhaps in environment? Perhaps the menu? But all things considered…read moreand not ever being here before PLUS being a fellow American; the food is exceptional. One thing- I'm going to suggest some points that might need considering- the bench stool style seats are wonderful, but if you intend on making your guest stay a long time then those aren't the type of seats you need. The wait was alright for me, but it was mentioned by my plus one with me cause of prior back issues. The atmosphere is paired well with the enthusiasm of the wait staff. And its one that made the meal more enjoyable. The toilets are clean! And its unisex. The two burgers my table ordered were the vegetarian- Kobacha. If your not vegetarian this is also very good. The Asian herb with the spicy sour cream complements to perfection with the chick pea and pumpkin patty. Your taste buds will crave more without thinking your eating veg!. The Lower east side burger! A wagyu beef with sliced jalapeños and relish with cheddar. The plate is dusted with sesame coriander chili. The excellent component to the burgers is an unmistakable flavor in which most east coast folk from the states won't miss! All I needed to have with the joy of eating these burgers was to hear a New Yorker call for drinks then more!!! the five stars for this review comes from my last experience in Lt Oscars- DRSSERT! Now I'm sorry that the last two reviewers here had not such a good time. (Maybe it was trying too hard on opening day or maybe the band wasn't there when I arrived) but I recommend the "little Oscars Chocolate Trinity.- for two" it's a definite winner. I'd go back just for that as a great after dinner treat! The brownie is a warm slab on a sweet compote next to two other mouses one is chocolate the other is a cream with with bits of white chocolate and nuts sprinkled around. There is a creative décor of Turkish fairy floss as accompaniment. BUT... ALL considering- possibly bad seating. Some places have dessert that make a menu and its reason to come back again!! I loved it! @lipstemptations @littleoscarbar

It's sleek interior and hip-crowd (and air conditioning) had drawn us in on a hot March evening. The drinks list was fun, with a great range of house-created cocktails (Sex on Brunswick, anyone?) however the beer list was a bit lacking. But now to the important stuff... the food! Intriguingly, the Lt. Oscar is designed to share, and therefore all 'burgers' actually come served as two slightly smaller sliders. We ordered the Little Oscar burgers (a classic cheeseburger) and the Gangnam style burgers (with Korean fried chicken and Asian slaw) to share. First things first, the sliders are actually just a hint too big, and would be perfect as just one main meal. Secondly, the Gangnam style was a little lacking in flavour and surprisingly the classic cheeseburger was far superior. I think they are still finding their feet a bit here... I do love a burger but with so much competition around, they'll need something a bit more than just serving them in pairs.

It was obvious I was making the safest choice for my personal taste. I havnt got a bad word to say about the overall experience. It was fantastic. The tzatziki sauce complemented the burger very well. There was the right amount of lamb meat. It was ideal, beuitifully made. Im more of a wrap guy then a burger guy so the fact that I was so impressed by this Greek burger shows how good it was. The chips and sauce were also very nice as well. A good side snack on after the main. The chips were the exact type that I like I did not have the onion rings, my friend did. 4 stars. Definetly worth giving a go. They have so much to choose from on the menu, its hard not to find something that appeals to you. High qaulity food.

Last night I had the mussels as an entree and the rib eye steak for a main. The mussels came in a generous serve and were cooked just right and served a delicious thick creamy sauce. It is great to have a really good restaurant close to Warrandyte other than Mercers. The only thing is that even when it is not crowded, it is a bit noisy and hard to hear your fellow diners. I know a lot of restaurants are set up this way purposefully, but I don't like it. Well done once more guys. We will be back.

Upon my return to Melbourne, the wave of hipster café's continuing to grow has been noted. Whilst…read moreI've still got my faves in my back pocket, I am open to trying the plethora of brunch establishments available all over Melbourne. So cue South Society. What a flop. This is my other issue with being spoilt for choice, you have no idea hows it going to be until you have been, and if it's rubbish sadly you won't get your two hours back (thank goodness for the good company!) It's a fairly large cafe located on the shopping strip just off Blackburn road with ample outdoor seating. My friend and I were seated on a very wobbly table outside (which also sent a glass of water into my lap after the table tipped towards me) which was rectified by moving. Also a wobbly table, this was fixed by stacking a pile of napkins underneath. Coffee orders were taken promptly but food took ages. I ordered myself the Mediterranean eggs Benedict and my friend had the mushrooms on toast. It was about 45 minutes before the food came out and it was such a disappointment. My food was more tasteless than plain rice. It was supposed to be poached eggs, sitting atop shredded pork shoulder on Turkish bread, topped with jalapeños, coriander and hollondaise sauce. The whole thing was bland and soggy. Hollondaise was too runny and not well seasoned. Eggs overcooked. My pork shoulder was so watery it tasted like boiled pork and sitting atop the Turkish bread just meant the whole thing was soggy. The only flavour I could actually taste was the coriander. My friend who had the mushrooms was also quite unimpressed with her meal. I've added an extra star here because the coffee and ambiance are nice, but I'd recommended just sticking to the coffee and people watching.

If you live around the area, you will know this location is tough and the spot has undergone several changes throughout the past few years and never quite made it. With Glen Waverley becoming busier, it is natural for the overflow of people to move towards Pinewood and with cafe's becoming "the thing" in Melbourne...South Society has taken the bull by the horns. Newly renovated with simple open plan full - wooden tables, dessert display and pot plants... With an all day menu from 7am, I have tried: Pumpkin linguini, red velvet pancakes (strawberries and chocolate drizzle) and the big breakfast (with a cheesy potato croquette). The food is on the pricier side however is in line with other hip places. The chai latte is always well brewed with actual tea and served a brown platter. The coffee always looks pretty and friends say it is an average coffee. I come here as there is always parking, the food is the same price as Glen Waverley Cafes and on par for quality. The food ranges from muesli - bacon and eggs - smashed ago - burger - pasta which caters for a variety of people I enjoy catching up with. Will be back for the convenice however the most recent visit I was a bit disappointed with the floors and tables not being well kept and food order taking some time.

And with the cool music playing as well as super lovely staff, they've got their place happening. As far as food, this isn't something I can comment on. It appears very "fancy" on the menu, and pricey. Because of it's location, it's excellent for all-day patronage but it's not somewhere people will travel to for dinner so they should probably adjust their menu a little to suit a coffee-shop/lunch menu and the prices to match. Overall, definitely worth a visit for the coffee and ambience.

Their best sellers are probably their toasted sandwiches-simple, tasty, great price, and chips are served in a cute mini fry basket on the side. Other things worth trying out are their steak, this is a huge slab of meat that is cooked and flavored well. Their garlic bread/dips are also fun.
