I prefer mom and pop shops to chain stores. Sometimes it's a bit busy in there, but you do get very personalized attention. I took 2 lamps to be repaired there and they charged me only $20 apiece. I also took a chandelier to have some work done and get cleaned up, and they did a beautiful job at a very fair price. It was far less than I expected. I needed a light for a powder room and was trying to decide on a couple. They took down the display models, wired them so I could plug them into an outlet, and let me take them home to check them out in my bathroom. They didn't charge me anything to do so! It's a good thing I did take them home, because the one I thought I preferred would nit work out there. So it was good I had the back up. That one also happened to be on sale, and I got a much better price than I expected. I bought a ceiling fan as well. Upon installing it, the motor wasn't working properly. The store ordered another to replace it. Again, they were very helpful and offered to replace it immediately.

There seems to be no end to this place with so many products on display. Our staffer was extremely professional with his help and suggestions. There was absolutely no pressure to purchase anything. I even heard him recommend a competitor to another customer because they could not accommodate their request. The store is going through a renovation but is still open. It's nice to actually speak with salespeople who know their products and want to help their customers. They will match any internet pricing, too. I would definitely come here rather than the big box stores for your lighting fixture and ceiling fan needs.

The questions they asked about the project helped me to select the fixture and lamp type for the application. If I had gone to a big box store, or other showroom, I would have left with the wrong fixture. While I was there they consulted with me on a future project for outdoor lighting. Once again, I would have made the wrong selection on my own and probably spent more money. Brandywine lighting is one of those "gems" in a crowded field of big stores with staff who know very little about lighting.

I had a number of questions, and all were answered fully (even how such an older building could support so much electric draw). I found a shade on a lamp that I really liked. They called the company to see if the shade could be ordered separately. I was given product number, the color I wanted, and the price. It was such a pleasant experience. I will definitely return as the need arises.

I told them they did not have to but they insisted on repeatedly putting on booties when coming into the house. They have a $200 fee for coming out that covers repairs if they do not need to install expensive equipment. I think that is very reasonable in today's world. I understand that a good antique light is going to cost more than junk from Target. So I am not complaining about antiques costing quite bit more than other lighting. I am complaining about this specific store costing much, much more than antique lights elsewhere. I shop a lot for antique lighting and this store is one of the most expensive I have ever seen. You can find much better prices if you search on etsy, ebay, or take a trip to local salvage stores like Re-store or even Provenance or Classic Lighting.
