Mom hired them to paint the whole house as they were considered the high end contractors. Frankly, a 3-star job that's docked for being so overpriced. - While the sales rep assured us any trim rust would be treated & prepped properly, the crew merely painted over it. If he were truthful, I would've just prepped those parts myself. - Many parts of interior trim weren't painted with a single complete coat. You see bare patches of old paint. - Lots of drips. They couldn't even throw some plastic cover over shades to protect them?? - Had to twist their arm to prep front window since peeling paint left the surface uneven. Bro: if it was just about applying paint, I can do that. The prep is the hard stuff I hired you to do. Apparently, they have numerous crews with different quality. So you never know how good a job you get. But you still pay top dollar for possibly mediocre work. read more

I sat with this update for a while, so it'd be from a neutral POV instead of an emotional one... and then the holidays/life happened. --- About 45 minutes after posting my initial review, Joe (the first to come by the house) called to follow up on his visit, saying he'd forgotten about us & that he'd schedule an appointment with their stucco guy for next week because he was out of town. We agreed to a date & time & hung up. 20 minutes later, Joe calls back. My husband thought it odd that he'd called again so soon & put the call on speaker. It was Joe saying he got an email about a negative review on Yelp & how it mentioned they ghosted us & they hadn't. Then he asked, "Can you tell your wife to take down the negative review?" My husband explained that I'd posted it before he called, & Joe responded with, "Can you ask her to take it down?... Please?" & that's when I spoke up. I told Joe that businesses are not supposed to be asking or pressuring people to take down their negative reviews, that we'd see how the rest of the experience went, & proceed from there. He mumbled "ok, thank you," we said goodbye, & got off the phone. But that would not be the last time someone brought up this review. The follow-up visit came, & we were introduced to Mateo & Zach. We spent a good 30 mins walking around the property, noting everything that needed to be done, discussing possible solutions, etc. Within a day or so, Zach sent us an estimate detailing the work that needed to be done & what each portion cost. We put together some questions we had, & when he called Zach to go through them, Zach took that opportunity to bring up the review. I don't know what was said on that call, but my husband told him we'd be amending it after everything was complete. Mateo's thorough assessment of our home & the scope of work he proposed is WHY we ultimately hired this company. If not for him, we'd have gone with someone else. Here's where the communication issues became more frequent. After making the initial payment, we were told that the job would be starting on Friday or Saturday, but likely Saturday, & they'd let us know. When no one came by on Friday, we called to ask if our project would start on Saturday or sometime next week. Once we got date/time figured out, we were set. That Saturday, four contractors arrived by 9am but they never told us they were here, nor did they tell us when they were leaving (this is the first time I've had this happen with contractors). Within a few hours of chipping away at stucco & rotted wood, someone got a little carried away with the jackhammer & made 2 holes through our dining room wall. When we mentioned it to one of the guys, he advised the others to jackhammer at a downward angle to avoid further damage. There was no remorse, no offer to repair the damage - nothing. When they weren't jackhammering, they were sledgehammering. This also caused damage to part of the wall around one window frame from how hard & often they went at this one area (see pic attached). By midday Tuesday, no one had been to the house. My husband called, spoke to Maurice, & expressed his unhappiness with the lack of communication, how no one informs us when we can expect someone to arrive/leave, what's getting done that day, as well as the fact that up until that point, no one from TruColors had been onsite to check in on the work & make sure it's being done correctly & per our estimate. We had some concerns & had no one to talk to. He said he'd have Ray, a QC Manager, come by Wednesday & address any concerns we had. After that call, someone came by our house to drop off equipment & supplies & later do some pressure washing. Again, there was no communication about next steps after we just had a conversation about this. On Wednesday, they started the stucco work & prep work before it came time to apply weatherproofing & paint over the next few days. Ray came down to talk to us & answer any questions we had, address concerns, etc. We opted not to bring up the interior damage because, by this point, we were tired of it all & would either fix it ourselves or find a handyman to help later. From that day on, communication improved, & the rest of the process went as we had hoped it'd be during the first half of the project. Paint started the following Monday & took about 1.5 days total. The painter let us know when he arrived that he'd be painting the house &, if we had any concerns, to just let him know. Both days before leaving, he asked us to walk around the property & see if there was anything we wanted to point out or thought needed further attention. He fixed anything we flagged & was efficient. Overall, we're happy with the outcome & quality of the work, but communication from the office left a lot to be desired. I would probably give this company another chance in the future, but I would like to see an improvement in communication moving forward. read more

Yesterday all of the work on the inside of my house as well as the driveway and walkway was completed. What a fantastic job Cesarrrrrr (lol..i extend the R when I say his name...he always laughs) and little Ulisses (who is a master at drywall and finishing and caulking) did on my house! I had a wall that was under my dining room window that needed to be removed (the sheet rock) and also the baseboard needed replaced. All done and looking neuva! I had to use a translator to communicate but thats ok they understood what I was saying and I understood what they replied! I also had my walkway and driveway pressure cleaned and painted. Its BLINDING how clean and bright it looks now! Rodney, I cant thank enough and the guys (ceaser and ulisses) for such an outstanding job replacing the sheet rock and the base board and fixing the crack on the wall and doing my driveway and walk way! While home repairs like this are not inexpensive I was grateful that I was able to afford to upkeep my home, (thanks to my dad). Using my inheritance on good things I know pleases my dead dad, myself and my community. It also increases my home value. Thats a win win in my book! The painters at Tru Colors were very professional and did an excellent job with regards to painting my home. They left my home clean and were very attentive to the smallest detail. I have included photos (check profile) so you can judge for yourself. The reason for a lower rating instead of 5 stars is due to poor communication which began during the free estimation. I hired professional painters for several reasons but mainly because I wanted a few accent walls, one of which had a design. I chose Tru Colors over three other painting companies because the estimator spent an hour and half in my home and seemed more detail oriented and attentive with regard to what I wanted done to the home. They also advertised that they offered "artistic painting" as one of their services. Their pricing was a little higher than average, but not unreasonable. I did not receive the estimate until 5 days after the estimator visited my home and I had to call the company to ask them about the delay. That was probably a red flag, but as I stated above, I felt that so much more detail was given to the home during the initial meeting and it would be reflected in the work. To be fair, the reason for the delay in receiving my estimate was acceptable but it should have been communicated to me without my having to call the company. I mentioned the accent walls during the time of the estimation (had a picture on Pintrest) and provided a picture via email to their administrative office at the start of the project. As I mentioned before, the painters were excellent, however they didn't complete my artistic wall because the email containing the picture was never sent to them. I was told that the accent wall was not included in my original estimate. Therefore, if I wanted it done, it could be done at a later date for an additional price. Since I did mention this at the time of the estimate I am not sure why it wasn't included. I also would've have been willing to pay additional money had I been told upfront. The company did contact me a day or two later to offer an estimate on the accent wall. We played phone tag for a couple of days, but here we are 17 days later and I still have not received the estimate. My fiance and I decided to complete the wall ourselves and we did. However, considering we paid almost 6000 dollars, we should not have had to repaint a wall done by professionals, especially when you consider that was primary reason I hired a painting company in the first place. Overall, I would say the quality of painting was excellent, but the company rates poorly in communication. read more

I wanted to have my kitchen repainted so of course I turned to Yelp to help me find a painter, which is where I came up with TruColors. Though they had solid Five Star reviews, myself always being the leery one, drove to their address to check them out. In the event you drive out there, as a tip, the address of 1759 does not face Powerline Road, but if you cut to the rear by using NW 18th street, sort of behind the front of the main building, you'll find it. Anyway, once there I found a very pleasant women at desk handling the phone calls and scheduling. So knowing that the business was for real, I phoned in and scheduled an estimate with which I was really delighted. They got right to it, did it right away, and in so doing the estimator really gave me some thoughtful insights as to what paints should be used, advice on color, plus a whole lot of extremely helpful suggestions involving painting matters that I had totally failed to consider. I soon had a painting contract in my email, which after a few modifications, I signed, sent back and scheduled the work. On the day for the work, a really very nice gentlemen by the name of Alex showed up and right away I could tell he was indeed professional; knew exactly what he was doing, taking his him time and doing an excellent job. The only thing that went somewhat wrong, sort of our collective fault, was that they had erroneous excluded a painting of the outside of my doors erroneously assuming that anything outside had to be done by my condo association. That, however, was not the case but then, silly me, I failed to note the erroneous exclusion in the contract. However, they did phone, offering to come back and correct the error, but in the meantime I had taken paint brush in hand and done the outside of the doors myself. All in all, TruColors did a great paint job for me and proved to be excellent people to work with. The back of the house needed stucco and painting after new windows were installed. First, they re-stucco a portion of the house and did a great job. Then, they power washed the remaining walls and pool deck. The painters scraped all of the exterior walls, applied primer, caulked all around the windows & doors and applied 2 coats of paint. On the second day of painting, they applied 2 coats of sealer on the pool deck. The teams took their time and did it right. This company has proved to me that they always honor a contract. Both the office staff and the people hired to do the painting or work on pavers take pride in their work. The painting of my exterior was completed in a short time and each day they managed to leave me clean surroundings. Although I had a small issue with the pavers, they took care of completing what needed to be done. In fact a neighbor was walking by and asked if I had just put in new pavers since the completed work created a clean, shiny look although these pavers are over 12 years old. I chose this company because I was told they do great prep work also that they are very professional. Very expensive in comparison to all the other companies but I thought you get what you pay for. My loss I guess I had to micro manage them every step of the way. I was pretty much left with a barely descent job. They even missed a couple of spots painting and I just couldn't bother to let them know as they came back a few times already. Very sloppy work. We live in Coral Ridge. We had Tru Colors re stucco and paint our house. When we met with the owner, Paul, he was knowledgeable and thorough in his evaluation of the job. We had a few other companies give estimates. Tru Colors was not the least expensive, but we felt confident in Paul and his company. He advised us that in some job, there might be instances where everything does not go right. He specifically said that he prides himself in that he and his company will do whatever additional work to make the home owner happy with the job. He spoke the truth. Tru Colors does not collect ONE CENT until the job is done to the satisfaction of the home owner. This speaks volumes of the quality they are confident they deliver. Initially, he had the roof and the entire house and driveways and patios pressure cleaned. Then the stucco team did their work. There were a few things with which we were not 100% happy. Paul came by for his inspection of the job, and together with us, identified certain areas he wanted touched up to be perfect. The stucco team sent in their finishing person and that ended up being excellent. During the stucco job, one of the outside lights stopped working. The painting was then done, and this was absolutely perfect. We paid Tru Colors the full amount last week. Paul said he needs to come and do a walk around to make sure everything is perfect. Today, Paul sent a member of his team to install a brand new outdoors motion detection light . He also bought 2 new nozzles for the hoses. The entire job is spectacular. I have lived in Florida for 26 years, and to the best of my memory, I have never had any work done by a company and an owner with such honesty and integrity. I was recommended to call and was told they were the best. Paul came out and provided an estimate. I knew the costs were higher than others and really wanted to spend less but I knew I wouldn't be disappointed! And I wasn't. Paul was going out of town and sent John Allen over to discuss colors and just how we were going to do the walls and the giant expensive very dark built in wall unit. WOW! He was super and spent time with me and didn't rush me when selecting colors. Mario and team painted the walls, and what was very dark trim! (You'd think this house was in the north east). There was a very dark very expensive built in mahogany wall unit. Of course I wanted it painted. First Mario expertly painted it. Then Henry came in and distressed it. It is gorgeous and my rooms look like a completely different house. Didn't take one penny until job was complete and then just sent me an invoice and I put check in mail. Every one of the individuals that came to my house were courteous and professional. While the painting is done, the rooms aren't finished. I will start with one word YES! As a Property Manager of Commercial and Residential Rental Properties. Locating vendors who do great work and provided exceptional customer service is very difficult is South Florida. To paint a picture: I got several quotes for painting the exterior of our commercial building. To my surprise the quotes were all across the board. After talking with other professionals in the business I called Tru Color for a quote in May and then called back in September. The quotes price had changed slightly because of minor misunderstandings, but we moved through process and picked TruColor. The painting of the building started before Hurricane Irma and we had a few rain storms that set back the entire process. Inside the setbacks the communication was clear and focused. Today the final walk thru was completed. Work was impeccable and to my surprise a couple of items that were not in the plan got done as a professional courtesy for the setbacks. I will say this I seldom write a review. This is one of those situations that I have taken the time to express my thoughts. Helen who handles accounting understood my challenges while keeping the owner pleased and trucolor united. Thomas Tobin the project coodinator and Justin one of the paint technicians were helpful is assisting me when I had question during the time at the building. at every turn the only recommendation for painting for me with be Tru Color. read more

We couldn't be happier with the work that TruColors did. Here was our experience and why we highly recommend them. Rodney came out and gave us a detailed estimate fairly quickly after requesting one. He then spent over 45 minutes answering all questions that we had and making sure he had an understanding of what we wanted. He was extremely easy to talk to and never once made us feel as if he was just saying something to "seal the deal". Which was refreshing as the other three companies we received quotes from had treated us much differently. Rodney was friendly and genuine from start to finish. I mean...he even left our dogs treats from a doggy bakery?! Super nice and knowledgeable guy! Made choosing them for the job a pretty easy decision. On the morning that they started the job, we were surprised to see an entire team show up! Usually, when hiring painters you expect two to three guys to show up in pick up trucks right? Nope. Not with TruColors. Nearly four vans (loved that the company name was on the van too) showed up and what looked to be a giant team of like 8 guys. It was easy to spot the lead painter right away, because he quickly organized the team as they walked the entire house and prepared. Angelo, the lead painter was just SO amazing. He was so organized and because of that, so was thee team and they worked so fast and efficiently. Angelo was very kind throughout the entire process! I can't say enough nice things about him, he really was so respectful. He completely understood that our family wanted as little physical interaction as possible (Covid precautions) and communicated with us via phone/text several times during they day. He made it a completely stress free experience. I never questioned the work that was being done because it was obvious that Angelo was on top of everything. We saw him many times walking circles around the house, double/triple checking that everything was being done correctly. He's one of the nicest, hardworking individuals that we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. TruColors really spent a lot of time protecting our windows, fixtures etc which we truly appreciated. Not only did they make sure that our property was well taken care of, but they went out of their way to make sure our neighbors were too! Before beginning the process, they asked our neighbors if they could put tarps over their cars! Very meticulous!!! All the workers were respectful of our property and everyone worked so hard to make sure that our house was prepped/painted seamlessly. They never left a mess, always cleaned up after themselves and worked extremely hard. They were very diligent when doing touch ups and left us with a home that looks brand new! It was obvious from the start that TruColors standards were just as high as ours and by the time they were finished with the job, there wasn't a single spot on our house that we questioned the quality of.
