Nice country drive. A great selection of kitchen needs. Fresh cold cuts at a bargain. Fresh baked goods. Would recommend them.

Cute little bread store run by really nice people! They sell everything from sourdough loaves…read more(plain, seeded, cranberry and walnut), baguettes to sandwich breads and more. They have a rotating menu that they list on their website (www.saltcitybread.com). By the time I got there mid-afternoon, they were sold out of their seeded (sesame, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds) sourdough. Plain sourdough loaves are $10 and the sourdough with inclusions are market price and range from $12-14 it seems. I got their chocolate chip cookie (with flaky salt from Syracuse Salt company) for $3.25, and it was delicious!! Thick cookie with crisp edges and a soft, fluffy center. Huge chocolate chips too! The flaky salt brings a nice balance as well. Will definitely be back!

My in-laws live around Manlius and always get bread from this bakery. I came in person for the…read morefirst time to buy some bread and a sandwich to go for the train ride back to NYC. This little bakery is very cute and offers a selection of different breads as well as sweets. The service is excellent and welcoming. These people know how to do bread WELL. I have tried their italian bread, focaccia, and their braided sesame bread-- which are all phenomenal! They have some sandwiches on their menu as well as some coffee available. On this occasion we ordered: - Braided sesame bread: this is my absolute favorite bread here. The presentation is beautiful, and the bread reminds me of a more savory challah with some salted olive oil hints that remind me of focaccia. The softness of the bread and the density make it so satisfying. It is perfect with both sweet and savory pairings. Super addictive--a loaf usually does not last longer than a day in our household. - Turkey sandwiches: we got a whole sandwich split into two halves. Size is pretty generous and one half is definitely enough for one person. This sandwich, although simple, stands out for its high quality ingredients. It came with generous sliced turkey that was not too salty, delicious gouda cheese, high quality mayo, fresh tomatoes and lettuce. The white bread is made in-house and feels super fresh and fluffy. They were super nice and gave us two bags of chips to compliment our dinner even though we technically ordered only one sandwich. We got it split into two separate containers and my fiancé and I each got our own pickle! Perfect option to get to-go. - Peanut butter cookie: I initially wanted to try the chocolate chip but they sadly ran out. However this was actually an amazing cookie. The thickness was perfect, not too thick and not too thin. It had nice bits of peanut butter and the cookie itself was super buttery, soft but with a nice caramelized crust, and not too sweet. There was a surprise Reeses PB cup in there which was very pleasant. Very good cookie! Cannot wait to come back and try their chocolate chip one. Overall, this bakery is a 10/10 and a very great asset to the area. Even though their selection is limited, I think they really focus on doing the few things they do VERY well. I love how local and homey this business feels. Their baked goods are all amazing and I will continue supporting them whenever I am in Manlius. Highly recommend Salt City Bread! You will not regret it.

The best part of this restaurant was their waitress. I didn't catch her name, but she was incredibly kind with a brown ponytail and sweet aura. They start lunch at 11am. Waited in line and let all the breakfast people go first to order at the counter. When they switched over to lunch, the cashier lady requested another few minutes to set up and said she would "come to me" when it was time for lunch ordering as we spoke earlier that lunch would not be ready. To not rush her and respect their transition per what was stated, I sat back down at the table. Then the lunch line immediately formed (that was not there at opening lunch hour), so I got back up to make sure she'd honor her commitment to first-come, first-serve. To my dismay, she began speaking with the gentleman after me, completely forgetting that I had waited 15+ min from breakfast and gotten word from her she would honor my place. She made an excuse that she was just taking the next customer in line, and after I repeated what she told me, she honored my purchase, and SHE clicked no tip automatically. Even more disappointing is that they STILL chose to put out the food of the gentleman behind FIRST. When our food came second, the reuben was burnt. Poor service aside, the chicken snitchzel was good. Unfortunately, I think the young lady was overworked and did not either remember (even though I had been standing there, made conversation) or chose not to remember (much more worrisome). The food is great and interior is beautiful views (on it's own would be 4 stars) but I would be very wary of the treatment you'd receive here as a customer. Please do better, you have really great food for this area.
