Pete worked with me to build on my skills, and I caught SO MANY FISH, growing more confident with each cast. My boyfriend had such a fantastic time that he booked a second trip for the following day, and with Pete, he caught over 25 fish--an unforgettable day of angling and moments he will never forget. If you're looking for an unforgettable float and fly fishing experience in Colorado, Pete Moss with Trout Trickers is the real deal. As an inexperienced fly fisherman, I wasn't sure what to expect, but Pete set the tone early with a quick safety check and a patient on-the-water lesson. We started with some casting and mending practice--just enough to feel confident before we began targeting fish. Throughout the day, Pete coached me through different presentations, teaching me about fly types, when and how to use them, and how to read the water. He adjusted strategies constantly as the hatch changed, and thanks to his guidance, I had numerous strikes and even managed to land a few -- including one absolutely gorgeous rainbow trout that made the whole trip. The boat itself was rock-solid. Even in the rougher sections of the Roaring Fork, it rode smoothly and never once made me feel uneasy. Pete had the boat fully stocked -- drinks, lunch, and probably 20,000 flies in every size and color imaginable. And then there's Moses, Pete's pointing dog and the unofficial trip mascot. Hands down the most well-behaved, chill, and lovable fishing companion you could ask for. We had an incredible two days fishing with Pete and Trout Trickers in Colorado. We fished different sections of the Colorado river each day based on Pete's recommendations resulting in 40+ hook ups over two days and 20+ fish caught. Pete Mott and his team are excellent. I have been doing an evening float with these guys for over 10 years and they consistently pick the best place to do it based on the conditions. Even though they will tailor your trip to do what you want (dry vs nymph, river, etc), I have learned to just trust them on their recommendations. Pete took my wife and I out on a half day float trip. It was hot, the water temp was hot, the river level is dropping, it was windy, and we were absolute beginners with the worst technique ever!
