This company set my wife and I up with an overnight float experience - I have nothing to complain about the experience itself. We had a great time. Great guide, smooth process. The price we were quoted was extremely high but it was our anniversary and we assumed the price would reflect the value of services rendered. In hindsight, bottom line: All things considered, in my opinion, you pay for a Ferrari and get a BMW. The price for what you get is egregiously overpriced even when accounting for how expensive the Vail Valley is these days. I recommend this experience if you are ultra wealthy to the point where cost/value ratio means nothing to you. I don't recommend this trip of you appreciate the concept of value in any way. There is a way to get the same experience with better accommodations for MUCH less: 1. For almost 50% less, stay at the 4 Eagle Ranch down the road for meals and lodging: VERY unique remote glamping experience with classy yet low key tent bar/restaurant on the hillside. Objectively better/more unique food/lodging experience and it's actually massively cheaper! 2. Turn to Co. We would love to go here again because we had a great time, but I would need to have a manager or something sign off on the quote we receive to avoid the big balloon in price that we experienced, that was really hard pill to swallow. Regarding the drastic price change, we called in advance and received a quote for $700 for two 8-person rafts and a shuttle to get us there (screenshot provided). Unfortunately, we were told the morning we all arrived that the quote was incorrect and the shuttle cost was per person and not per shuttle. It also looks like the "Land & River Use Fee" nearly doubled as well, even though we did not change the amount of equipment we were renting. I told the staff that we would move forward with the cost because everyone was already there and they said they would charge us appropriately. They said our two dogs were not allowed in the shuttle, so we had to drive them up separately, but I was told later that dogs were allowed and could have gone in the shuttle. Once we got back down from the river float, we saw the charge was $1036, a 48% increase in cost compared to our quote, I was shocked, and after speaking to the staff there, it looks like we were over charged by the two shuttle costs of the folks who had to driven up, so we ended up in the high 900's, but still much higher than quoted. Overall, I'm happy we got to use the rafts, but I would warn others to speak to a manager when confirming costs and to be prepared for over charges or at least an increase in cost at the end of the trip.

And highly recommend. guides "Forest" and "Matt" Your point of entry is their website and soon you'll be talking to the lead manager, Kyle who makes the whole process very easy and is happy to tailor design to specific needs of the individual or group. Whether you are an absolute beginner or an advanced kayaker who has not paddle the Colorado company this company has something for everybody For the beginner, they have amazing lessons and safety training and for more advanced paddlers, they have can take you down challenging river runs It's also the "complete package" --they have all the equipment all the logistics worked out . you just show up at their place in Edwards and they take care of everything and then bring you back to the point of origin. The drive to most places where you put in boats on the river are 30 to 40 minute drive so very close to the Vail area and convenient. A recent trip with " Matt " was one of the best I've had in which we had both experienced and beginners in our crew and Matt catered to every level as we went down the river and provided great river training skills and even acted as "photographer" for the trip . If you are looking to get out on the water as one of your activities in the Vail area, check out Alpine Kayak!

After arriving in the morning we were outfitted with PFD's and helmets, then given a good talk about safety. Next we jumped on a bus headed up Glenwood Canyon to the Shoshone exit, about 10 miles up river from where we started. By far, the best part of the day was the first half hour or so. Lots of action right from the jump, and lots of me wandering why in the hell I hadn't done this before! There was a good deal of paddling to do in that first part, but it was way more fun than effort. Since we only had 5 in our group we were able to go out on the 14 footer instead of one of the bigger 16 foot rafts like the others on our bus. This let us go through a couple things they couldn't, and overall offered a little more exciting ride. After the first bit it was mostly a float trip with only a few spots for paddling. This allowed our great guide Otto to regale us with tales about the river, the area around it, and the people that work on it. Along with a few other choice stories that you'll have to get from him sometime, if you're lucky enough to get him as your guide too. After 10 miles on the river we arrived back to the boathouse and had lunch, which comes with the full day trip. It was WAY better than anyone in our group thought it would be. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and pulled pork with all the fixin's. Water and lemonade were included but if you wanted a pop or a beer they had them available for purchase inside. After lunch it was back on the river for a very chill 7 miles of mostly floating. The only wrinkle we hit was some fairly hard rainfall, which did soak us pretty good but didn't dampen our experience one bit.

This place is absolutely amazing. It's really cool the somewhat new owners Jim and Lauren....about as cool and easy going as it gets. I brought my family of 5, my wife, my 15 year old daughter and my sons 18 and 20....before my new grad heads off to West Point. We looked at some of the cabins, and you can see all the work the new owners have put into them, they look amazing, and a lot have been re-decorated. It's a very cool rustic. My wife and daughter loved the gift shop and the cool shirts. The guide Jeremy took us out, and my wife does not like the water, and he kept her pretty happy in the middle with the gear. We got out and saw some historical 1840's old cabin and other stuff, was completely awesome! We will be getting back there as soon as we can, the views driving in and out of there are almost worth the drive. They had a great little adult beverage store, pretty awesome to have out in the middle of nowhere...with no cell coverage which I loved....no work calls ,ha. Pretty family friendly, and the little wedding event setup looked cool.
