They are such…read morea pleasure to work with because they take pride in their work and pay attention to details. They are fast, efficient, and get the job done on task and within their stated budget. We were in need of a ton of landscaping work for our backyard. We started by going the budget route and hiring people here and there to build a fence, or knock out concrete. We found this approach was not saving us money and often causing more trouble than solving our landscaping issues. We realized we needed to hire one team that could do it all. This company was suggested by our landscape designer, Kathleen Shaeffer. I usually start my search by looking for a website and on yelp. Engineered Design does not have a web presence so I never would have found them without the reference. I had them over for an initial consultation along with two other landscape companies. In the end we chose Engineered Design because of the ease of communication and thorough bid they provided us. Where other companies seemed rushed, or didn't look at the big picture, they took their time exploring our yard and taking notes on everything they found. They broke their budget down into phases of completion so that we could see what it would cost to complete the entire backyard (even if we didn't plan on doing it all at once). This was extremely helpful because we realized some things would have to be done first before other, etc. I just can't say enough about this company. They are honest and hardworking. They know what they are doing and do a great job. Use them! You will be satisfied.

I felt the design fee was reasonable ($500) especially if you can plant the items yourself. We asked for a tropical landscape that would provide privacy to compliment our pool and it turned out beautiful. The bright greens she chose go so well with our brick planter boxes that we had installed years ago and against the bright blue pool water. The larger palms were a little out of our budget so we decided to go with a smaller gallon tree hoping they'll grow quickly to give us that privacy. Roxanne is easy to work with and her installers were hardworking, quick, professional and clean! I've never seen a contractor clean up their mess so well, even before the project was completed. He also gave advice regarding "shock" to a tree if too much is removed at once. (This job was primarily to cut back trees along my property line, so that if these notoriously breakable Cypress tree limbs shattered in a storm, they would not fall on my neighbors' homes or fences.) He and his crew also provided excellent cleanup, with */no damage whatsoever/* to structures or fencing in VERY TIGHT work areas, with only 1 foot of clearance between the 30 inch diameter eucalyptus tree being trimmed and the fence: He didn't drop ANY limbs or branches onto the fence or the neighboring shrubs. His quote was fair and this job was difficult, due to the other part of it being Cypress trees that tend to split under wind load. I had had one "rush" job done the "La Niña" in 2021 by the only tree service available at the time (NOT his) and I am quite sure that A&A Tree Care would have charged 10 to 20% less for the same job. Also, he split the bill into two clear sections, so that the work on the eucalyptus tree, which was in the neighbors yard, was shown as a separate part of the estimate. This was important, as my neighbor had offered to pay for the trimming of that tree, where it was overhanging my fence and property line; the neighbors tree was a particular nuisance to me, as it was constantly dropping seeds and branches down into my trees and shrubs below. I began my own building contractor work at age 16 during high school summers and did my first arborist style of tree climbing on the tall straight, Jeffrey and Ponderosa Pines in the San Jacinto mountains in Southern California, so I know the hazards of the work and the difficulties of doing a trimming job in limited spaces. He didn't run his chainsaws or wood any longer than was absolutely necessary, as he said "Even though this noise level is permitted during the day, I don't want to disturb your neighbors anymore than I have to. I can't recommend him highly enough!
