I got my second tattoo at Willie's about 7 years ago and was very pleased with how it turned out. I finally wanted to get another, and of course I wasn't going anywhere else. The artist that did my back tattoo was not there, so I had Marley do it, and boy was I amazed!! I've never been tattooed by a woman, so that was a first, and she was very gentle. "a feminine touch", if you will. My tattoo is on my foot, so I thought it would hurt, but I was surprised that it wasn't as bad as I originally thought. Going through her portfolio, I was so impressed. She does such good work (As does everyone at Tropical)I couldn't be happier with it and I'm going to have her add to it in the future. She even fixed a screw up on my first tattoo, which I've been living with for 8 years, in the same sitting. read more

I have been going to Tropical for over 10 years now, with all of my work being done by Ron Gray. I have received nothing but excellent service, from reasonable prices to Ron's ever willingness to accomodate my scheduling requests. This is not to be confused with me walking in at any given time and expecting to be tattooed that very second, as some people believe it should work. (Simple solution to that: pick up a phone and try scheduling an appointment rather than just strolling in whenever you feel like it, and then complaining about lack of service.) Ron also has a rare ability to create amazing custom pieces with very little guidance. He always seems to be spot on! I highly recommend any of the artists at Tropical Tattoo for quality work. read more

You guys were great!!! All of you. I had researched many tattoo places and chose Tropical Tattoo for many reasons but the most important was first, the artwork (is it awesome), and the artwork I saw was exceptional. Second, how did I feel when I called there? (were the people nice and did they act like they wanted my business) Right away they were very nice on the phone and I had specifically wanted Ron Gray to do my tat and my girlfriend visiting from New York's tat also. We had a specific time frame in which we had to have them done and Ron was very accomodating. We had a lot of fun with Ron and he made it a great experience as well as all the artists there, they were all very friendly. Thank you for making my our experience a GREAT one. read more

I was recently at Bike Week 2014, my daughter and I once again went to Tropical Tattoo to get some tat's. This is by far the most relaxing place to get some ink, the staff are very friendly and they bring in some very good artist for bike week.. I would highly recommend Zac, he is a great person, knowledgeable, understands what you want, never gets in a hurry and very considerate of the pain areas and will not take advantage of you during special events. I have several tattoos and Zac is by far the best tattoo artist that I have ever gone too. My daughter has Nate do her tat's, he is also a very good artist. Best ink in Florida! The shop has been around for over 25 years now. I've been to Tropical Tattoo for two tattoos now and it's the best decision I've ever made! The staff is professional and the shop itself is always perfectly clean. My artist for both of my tattoos has been Ron Gray and he is seriously the best artist I have ever met. Any tattoo design you bring to him will be brought to life for an excellent price. I'm so happy I get to wake up every morning and look at the beautiful pieces of art on my body that Ron has put there. Went to Willie's to get a memorial tattoo in honor of my Grandmother who had passed away on that same day. Not just me, but 5 other family members for the same. The staff at Willie's was awesome. Very helpful and patient with everyone who had different ideas. Sat with us to figure it all out. I thought, being from out of town, coming to a beach city, that they'd probably get over on us with the price. I was dead wrong. The prices were very fair, and the work was fantastic. Everyone went home that day with a tattoo they loved. After spending almost five hours in the shop, we felt like they were friends. I'd definitely go back for more work. read more

Got my 2nd tattoo from Ron last Saturday. The man is great. I wouldn't get a tattoo from anyone else - and I live full time in Illinois not Florida. My wife also got her 2nd tattoo from Ron the same evening (3rd overall for her). Ron does not rush. He takes the time to get the design right even if it means spending well over 3 hours, as he did with us. And it wasn't all work either. Fast forward through 42 years of life and becoming disabled a few months ago--I realized it's time to step into the new me. No more excuses. It was time to JUST DO IT! After tons of research and contacting multiple studios that couldn't quite catch the vision or do the very straight lines I wanted, I found the perfect artists. So I contacted Richard and Maia with Electric Shark Tattoo Studio, and calling them amazing is an understatement. Walking into their studio felt like stepping right into high school art class, with Maia as the cool art teacher guiding the way. The studio had very chill and laid back vibes and for someone getting their first tattoo it was the perfect place to not feel over overwhelmed. I think its also important to to say I thought the studio was way clean and I noticed that Maia set her area up like a hospital room. She had everything all in order and the place all sterile. This made my OCD, germophobe self so happy. Personally I wasn't even thinking about any of this stuff until I saw how much work goes into things. And I can't forget to say she worked with me as I am in a wheelchair. I was hoping I would not be difficult and she made me feel not a burden at all. And on that point the shop is very accessible from a disability standpoint. Maia captured every line and detail I've had in my head for a quarter of a century. The amazing thing about it all is she was able to do a better job free handing everything instead of using a stencil. Her steady hand was like a surgeon at her craft. This was hands down the best experience. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a tattoo weather it be your first or 100th to check out Richard and Maia.
