Chelby is the rudest person I've ever met. I should have known from the very first exchange when she was sarcastic that it wouldn't end well. I have to get someone else to touch up my tat from her. Apparently she is the only one who works, works hard and has work ethics and she certainly doesn't want you texting her! She works so hard she can't respond by emoji even. I was accused of being entitled when I wanted to finish the tribute to my late husband. She is very defensive, uppity, and I quote "Don't you ever fucking step foot in this shop again." All because she doesn't read people well and again, she is the only one who works. Period. AND, the tattoo really needs a touch up with their ink. Great start with a very very bad ending. Tropical Tattoos are legendary. Do yourself a favor. Go there but not to her. read more

Just had John from Willie's give me a tattoo as a BD present from my GF. John was VERY patient with me getting the proper placement and size for my forearm. I had done some shopping around Volusia County and found Tropical to be very professional and fair on prices. I could not have asked for a more accurate and reproduction of the font I showed him via Pinterest. He nailed it. Coming back for a touch up of an older tattoo that was done elsewhere. I only go to tropical tattoo for my ink. I typically have Clay do all my work as he is phenomenal at laying the ink and i never have any problems Unfortunately due to my schedule I wasn't able to see Clay my last two times visiting tropical tattoo. My first visit A month ago katie did a absolutely beautiful job on my cardinal piece. I had no issues with the healing process. However my most recent visit on 5/20 i was there at opening hoping a artist had some time to do a infinity symbol tattoo on my arm. I had a traveling artist named mike tattoo me from jacksonville. He injected way to much ink into my skin as he was milking the clock to say it took longer then it should have and charged me 200$. Now i have a tattoo that is healing messed up with painful thick raised scabs with yellow and green crust/discharge. I follow my healing instructions very carefully and have never had a issue with any of my tattoos. I went back to tropical tattoo a week after i was tattooed for a followup on why it was healing like this i was told it was normal and i was just overreacting and it was my fault because i didnt wash it correctly or globbed lotion on it..i have NEVER had a tattoo heal like this before. My friend and I came in for kind of matching tattoos. We had been to another place in Daytona earlier in the day and the artist couldn't be bothered to draw our tattoos and was very condescending. That was not our experience at tropica! Ron was our artist. He drew our tattoos in about 10 minutes and they were exactly what he wanted. He was professional, yet able to have fun and get in on our jokes and conversation. Everyone was accommodating and welcoming even though we didn't actually start the tattoo process until 10 pm. My friends and I came to this place visiting from CT. We were instantly greeted by a friendly and welcoming receptionist. I had the intention of getting a quote on the front of my arm. The tattoo artist, Katie was super honest and patient with me. She informed me that if I were to get a quote in that area, eventually in a few years it would blend together and not look great. Not only was she honest, but she worked with me to come up with a great idea that I ended up loving even more than my original thought. Katie was super patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had tattoos by this shop several years ago when on vacation and had a good experience so decided to come back on our recent trip. The man at the front desk spoke to us like he could care less whether we got tattooed there or not. Said he'd tell the artist to come out and speak with us, we waited more then half hour and the artist never came out. When we went back to the desk we saw the artist was just starting a tattoo. The desk man said "yeah you'll have to wait til he's done now, we can't put your names down for an appt. time until you speak to the artist, and you can't call as we don't take appts. Via telephone" It would have taken 3 minutes for the artist to speak to us about our small tattoos we wanted. So we left. Would recommend adjusting your attitude to make customers feel like you want and appreciate their business. Like I said, we were happy with our previous tattoos here, so disappointed to have to walk away this time around. read more

Went today while in Florida to get my dream catcher that I've been waiting to get. Clay was my tattoo artist he's phenomenal! He did my friend tattoo exactly one year ago today so I've been holding out on it until I could get down there and see him and have him do it. The nicest guy! So skilled at drawing something up, adding details I guess basically told him how I wanted it the colors I wanted the beads 2 be & what they represented & left the rest up to him. I have 5 other tattoos none of them hurt but this was the most relaxed I've ever felt. Just a very calm place & made me feel so welcome! Took time and I barely felt a thing. Definitely worth your time and money. I don't think I will ever love another person like me again until I come back to Florida. Whether I'm in Orlando or Daytona and travel to there again to see him. He has 25 plus years experience. The other tattoo artist at the shop were extremely friendly and the woman at the front desk was a great help an extremely friendly as well. Ron has done two tattoos for me and both times he did an excellent job. He is always easy to work with re: scheduling and giving me exactly what I want. I live in Virginia, with family in the Daytona Beach area and I will continue to give Ron my business when I come down for a visit. He's a talented artist and a great guy to work with. I just want to send a message to the tattoo artist who did my husbands tattoo Friday night 10/20. I think the guys name is Josh, but when he reads this he will know who its about.. It was late when we came in, must have been near closing time because the place was empty.. My husband was drunk, not gonna lie about that, but the tattoo artist could not have been any more rude than he was.. I wish you had just said you were gonna do it.. When he asked you the price you thought it would be "funny" to go up on the price instead of down. Did you think the drunk guy wouldn't notice? You were rude and sarcastic and I guess you thought that you would humiliate the old drunk guy.. Well.. here's what I want you to know.. That old man, who is 56 by the way, just survived throat cancer. 35 treatments of radiation on his throught, after the first week could not eat after the first week, had to have a feeding tube put in the second week, lost a total of 150 pounds. Skin of the inside and outside of his throat burnt, worse than any sunburn you have ever seen. We have been married 35 years and survived many things but nothing like this..So Josh.. or whoever you are...next time you think its badass to treat and an old drunk man like shit..maybe you should get the story first. read more

I have been to Tropical Tattoo 3 times over the last 2 years. Each time I was very happy with the service and the tattoo. Ron Gray did my last tattoo. I had a design asked him to work with it to add some finishing touches. The day of my tattoo I called him and asked if we could make some changes. He was like wow that will throw everything off. We discussed it a little more and he said let me work with it to see if he could make the changes. A few hours later he called and told me to come in at our agreed upon time from a couple of days ago. Point is: Ron went out of his way to make it the tattoo I wanted and still kept my appointment. He was friendly and personable while he was tattooing. He is laid back and a very good artist. Once I get some money saved up I will be seeing Ron again for some more ink. read more
