Growing up in a strict,…read moreconservative southern home and attending a conservative Christian university, it was something I assumed would always remain just a thought. Fast forward through 42 years of life and becoming disabled a few months ago--I realized it's time to step into the new me. No more excuses. It was time to JUST DO IT! After tons of research and contacting multiple studios that couldn't quite catch the vision or do the very straight lines I wanted, I found the perfect artists. So I contacted Richard and Maia with Electric Shark Tattoo Studio, and calling them amazing is an understatement. Walking into their studio felt like stepping right into high school art class, with Maia as the cool art teacher guiding the way. The studio had very chill and laid back vibes and for someone getting their first tattoo it was the perfect place to not feel over overwhelmed. I think its also important to to say I thought the studio was way clean and I noticed that Maia set her area up like a hospital room. She had everything all in order and the place all sterile. This made my OCD, germophobe self so happy. Personally I wasn't even thinking about any of this stuff until I saw how much work goes into things. And I can't forget to say she worked with me as I am in a wheelchair. I was hoping I would not be difficult and she made me feel not a burden at all. And on that point the shop is very accessible from a disability standpoint. Maia captured every line and detail I've had in my head for a quarter of a century. The amazing thing about it all is she was able to do a better job free handing everything instead of using a stencil. Her steady hand was like a surgeon at her craft. This was hands down the best experience. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a tattoo weather it be your first or 100th to check out Richard and Maia. They say you can't stop at just one tattoo. So If that's true and I end up wanting another one I will be going back.

They take both walk ins and appointments, but of course it's always best to make an appointment if you don't want to wait and want to take some time working on the design. They're very good about working with you and ensuring the design you want is what you get. Very clean establishment with quite the rockability vibe. In all, I would definitely go back again and always recommend it to my friends.

Would never get tattooed here...i walked in to make an appointment not only was i waiting 20…read moreminutes (before i walked out) because they have no one working the front and making appointments but i saw an artist drop his paper towel he was using to tattoo on the floor, pick it up off the floor and throw it out BUT NEVER CHANGED GLOVES and continued to tattoo...not a clean shop at all, i dont know about you but i dont want a staph infection. Ive been to alot of tattoo shops before, i have over 100 hours of work and i just think its very unprofessional without a front desk person to steer you in the right direction for people just walking in not knowing anything about tattoos or piercings just in general. I was looking for a new shop bc i just moved there And what i saw was your artist pick something off of the floor while tattooing. i dont care how clean you are, the floor is always dirty and my wife works in the medical field and i know for a fact it is unsterile even if you were close to the floor and not touching it you risk a staff infection and he actually touched the floor with his glove then with the same glove continued to tattoo and touch open skin. And on top of that his monster wasnt even taped off so everyone at 7-11, those germs are also in that tattoo now.... long story short clean shop i liked it (how the shop was set up) but dirty artist practices so it doesnt even matter. im not even a neat freak i just have had bad experiences and i know them when i see them
