Winter Haven Location…read more Believe all the bad reviews about this location and the owner Ron. Had them quote a gas pool heater. I checked the price online and it was about $400 cheaper delivered. When I asked Ron about it, his answer was simply "well when it breaks, who will you call for service"? Ok, I understand that and I do see some validity in that claim. I also try to support small local business, so I had them do it. Fast forward, heater breaks, need service. No less than 20 phone calls to Pinch a Penny and even 2 store visits. "Oh Ron will call you", and "yes he knows and will be in touch". Yeah. Horseshit. Never a word. Ever. I hate to say an entire organization sucks because thats unfair. But Pinch a Penny and the owner Ron on Dundee rd sure do!

We were told that we could set up a auto payment and that we would be sent an email alerting us when service had been completed. We got an email, and payment was deducted but service had not been done. After speaking with someone at the store, they returned our money and promised they would go out and clean the pool. They never did the work. I had to call to see what was happening. I was told that Ron would return my call to talk with me about the situation. He never did. I even called a second time.Again told that he would call me before the end of business- he never called. I dont want to chase people down to give them business.

Starting such a huge project as installing a pool can be troubling, given the risks of hiring a…read moreshady/undependable company to do the work and the horror stories you hear. Thankfully, Elite Pool Designs put all of our fears to rest thanks to their amazing customer service, fair prices and excellent, high quality work. We previously had a koi pond in our backyard but, as the fish died out, realized we wanted something else back there instead. We reached out to Elite Pool and Cyndi and she came over the next day to assess our yard. As we had no idea where to start, she helped guide us through the whole process, connecting us with surveyors, tree removal experts and all of the other hidden things you don't think about when you decide "I want a pool". After the work to get the yard ready was done, we went to the Elite Pool offices to pick out the tile, lining and design of the pool. Cyndi walked us through the shape and features we wanted, and provided a very reasonable quote for everything, including, automation, a heater for the pool (hey it DOES sometime get cold here!) and a screen enclosure. Construction for the pool started in October 2024 and finished in late January 2025, and our hat goes off to Robert (owner of Elite Pool) for his help with managing the entire project. Crews arrived as needed and on time, and though there were some periods between steps where not a lot of work was being done, it was never unreasonable and given the holidays, totally fair. Inspection and electrical were simple and easy and now we are ready to enjoy our pool! For anyone in our same position, looking to install a pool from scratch but not sure where to turn, Elite Pool Design should be your first call, can't recommend them highly enough!

Also, I've also never owned one before, so I needed some direction. Mr. Smiley was AWESOME! He came out right away and got my spa running like new in no time. The local Pinch-a-Penny recommended him, and I'm SO glad they did. Bonus: The cost was extremely reasonable.
