    Corn salad

Excellent smoothie and sandwiches. Got the deep detox smoothie without any additional sugar added avocado. Good fresh ingredients used. Sweet enough for me with fruits in the smoothie. Could've used a but more ginger. I ordered it with a sandwich. Chicken caprese sandwich with extra chicken. The sandwich was delicious and flavorful. There was pesto, mozzarella and other things in the sandwich. It was pretty delicious. Also got the corn salad which was nice and spicy. The kale and apple salad was a but too sweet but very tasty. Would recommend.

Still thinking about how unexpectedly amazing this burger was at MDW. I ordered it medium rare and…read moreit came out perfectly cooked, truly pink in the center, juicy, and full of flavor. Not that gray "airport medium" you usually get, but an actual proper medium rare. The meat was tender, well seasoned, and cooked evenly all the way through, and the bun held up without overpowering the burger. What really took this experience over the top, though, was the staff. Every single person was so kind and kept checking in, making sure everything was perfect. It almost felt weird how good the service was for an airport spot. Between the food and the hospitality, this was easily one of the best airport dining experiences I've ever had and honestly better than a lot of non-airport restaurants.

The food is packed with sodium and prepackaged but that's what's expected given the environment. The challenge is the staff doesn't wash their hands before preparing a drink or serving food after touching germy towels to wipe down the bar, workstation, utensils, their hair or clothing. Additionally the drink well is highly corroded and should be repaired or replaced. Based on that alone, I can only imagine the ice machine being full of mold and dirty water filters. I travel through this airport at least twice biweekly when traveling for business. This used to be my favorite spot. As of last week, I gave up on things changing. The employees have to see this mess and realize this is unhealthy for the patrons or anyone. I guess they don't believe in the "if you see something, say something" mentality. Or worst, management doesn't care. In either case it's a good time for health inspectors to surprise them with a good old visit! Until this is corrected and the area sanitized, steer clear.

Today I finally stopped into a packed house @ around 2pm. They have a nice selection of breakfast & lunch items. I'm partial to skillets. Today I ordered the Mexican skillet w/chorizo, onions, peppers, mozzarella cheese, extra crispy hash browns & 2 eggs over easy. The food was cooked to perfection the way I ordered it but the chorizo added a little too much salt to the dish for my taste (my fault for ordering the chorizo). My server was awesome & offered excellent service coming back several times to see if I needed anything else.

After years of visiting the 24-hour location on Cicero in Oak Lawn, my dad and I finally landed…read moreearly enough to try the Pulaski location. It may be the original location, or that honor may go to the yet unvisited-by-me third location closer to the Loop, but in any case, this Huck Finn definitely feels different from the one I'm used to. The lighting fixtures, booths, and art all have the same tacky early-2000s feel as the other location, but that's where the similarities end. This one is much smaller, although its dessert-case area has its own tables, and the outside of the building advertises ice cream. This Huck Finn feels like a coffee shop, which is probably why my dad says he likes it more than the "original"--original to us, at least. It has a counter, and while the building looks large from outside, it has about half the seating of Oak Lawn. There's a funky mirror near the bathrooms that makes it look like there's a back dining room--or possibly a Den of Iniquities like the original--but it's all an optical illusion. Service is quick and efficient, as it is at Oak Lawn. Our server, though, was a familiar no-nonsense throwback to an earlier time. Oak Lawn has some of those, but most of its servers are younger women with the thickest Chicago/Great Lakes accents you'll ever hear. (Seriously, although they're all under thirty-five, they sound like they're about to start collecting Social Security.) She was short on small talk, but she made up for it with sass and a whole lot of hard work. The food is good, although the menu is more limited than Oak Lawn's. One thing I don't like is that the menus are flimsy printouts. Oak Lawn at least has laminated pages, although I miss the old multi-page booklet-style menus. Oh well. They have Texas and Alaska donuts here, so it's a legit Huck Finn. It's physically possible to make a left turn onto Pulaski from their parking lot, but I think it's illegal, as you'd have to cross a quadruple yellow line. I spotted two cop cars near here, one when we were arriving, and one when we left, so be careful out there.

The staff did an amazing job making a pizza burger for me without a bun or cheese. I really…read moreappreciated the hospitality and the attention to detail. And it only took the kitchen about ten minutes to make my meal. Highly recommend Huck Finn Restaurant on Pulaski. I'll be going back soon.
