I had an odd experience at my local Tropical Smoothie this morning... I went to the Brighton location around 11. One of the workers (a petite blonde girl) appeared to be doubled over in pain, clutching her stomach and telling others she "was in so much pain she couldnt work." This immediately raised some red flags to me. After receiving my smoothie, I overheard her saying how she was "internally bleeding" and needed to leave. If you are internally bleeding I don't think you would be up and talking, you would probably be unconscious in a couple minutes. I am greatly concerned for this young woman and am curious as to what happened. read more

Always a big fan of grabbing a smoothie for breakfast. They have a great app you can order from. Provides time and when I arrive the items are ready in a cubby in the main floor with my name and receipt attached. Pretty standard. I always wonder why rey don't ask for ID. How do they know it's me picking up. I guess it's the honor system. Either way everything I get is always fresh and my smoothie filled to the top. I enjoy the add in options so I get all the extras, energy, multi vitamin, etc .. a little costly and I don't really know if they are added because it's made before I get there so.ita the honor system again. Pretty standard across the board for all these chains. This particular one is in a business strip layout right on the end. So you can see it clea from the main road. Large parking lot out front with close parking spaces. The facility is always well lit and the staff welcome you when you get in the door. The menu is on the wall and they are fast if you decide to order when you arrive. One of my favorite stops when I am in town. read more

Grabbed the detox island green smoothie after a heavy Mexican meal. I would normally get the peanut butter cup here, but that just feels heavy like cement right now. I needed something cool and refreshing and healthish. Oddly enough my smoothie isn't done and 3 customers have come in and out, ordered and picked up their orders before mine was even done. They even managed to get 2 pickup orders before mine was done. What's up with that? They said my ticket got tossed and thus they were getting to mine after the 3 customers that came and left before me. Well done. I can't believe the woman that waited on me or any of the ladies making the smoothies didn't catch on at all. They apologized and I get it that orders should can be done based on tickets and orders, but someone should be managing this place and realized the mistake they made by tossing and order ticket that was never actually completed or made yet, right? The detox island green is okay, not special. Doesn't come close to my favorite Carla's detox at beyond juice. I did for a moment forget that I wasn't at beyond juice when I was first at the counter. read more

For a $7 smoothie you expect a little more. If I were getting a smoothie that weren't half ice and had supplements, I'd be ok with it. Almost all of these smoothies are packed with a sugary base, ice, and whatever other ingredients you got. I got the Detox Island Green. It's my go to because it's the only one that doesn't have over 300 calories and has the lowest amount of sugar without subbing Splenda. These smoothies defenitely are not as healthy as people think. My smoothie had too much ice. I couldn't taste much of the fruit flavors at all. I pretty much tasted watered down spinach with a hint of sweetness. Very disappointing since the smoothie usually tastes awesome at other locations! This place is very clean and organized. It was busy and the staff had a great system and were working their butts off! I would love to see size options as well as more naturally sweetened options. If some frozen fruit is used in place of some of the ice, there may not be a need for such a sugary base. read more

I do not go to this trop ever due to knowing how the people are there. The staff is incredibly rude, my sister used to work there, and most of her coworkers were extremely disrespectful and rude. the manager and boss were the worst though. They constantly tore my sister down and did not appreciate the work she did. People would tell them made up crap to try and get my sister fired. The food was nothing to write home about but was overpriced. Service was good. I don't think you could call anything in that store ambience. Overpriced mediocre food. It cost me $16.75 for a chicken wrap, small portion of sweet potatoes and a smoothie. I could have basically had d the same thing at about half of that price at other places. This clean and beautifully decorated Tropical Smoothie is one of my favorite locations to grab a quick bite to eat. Service is always A1: I get my food fast, and am treated respectfully. One young man in particular was very kind and professional. While dining, there was a short power outage that turned off all of the machines. This gentleman took control of the situation and kindly explained to customers that it was going to be difficult to order. It was fascinating to witness this location's employees handle the difficult circumstances with such ease. Will definitely continue to dine here. read more

We LOVE the smoothies here but - newsflash - we are still in the middle of a pandemic and masks need to be worn to protect others, not just ourselves, from contracting Covid. I could see that at least two employees in the back area were not wearing their masks over their faces while we were waiting for our smoothies to be prepped. Poor customer service on number of times. Staff very not into there job just going thru motions. Inly rinsed blenders no real cleaning don saw multiple issues of cross contamination. Asked for the remnants of the smoothie from blender and said i couldnt have it just washed it down drain when i paid for extra ingredients. I've only been here once, but had a delicious smoothie. Top three I've ever tasted, and the service was fast. We got a limited edition flavor with bananas, dates, almonds, cinnamon and chia seeds. We looked up this chain to make sure there are locations closer to where we live so that we can come again. I liked the ingredient options (white chocolate, avocado), and the good menu was appealing (Thai chili steak or cilantro lime fish tacos). We weren't asked what size of smoothie we wanted, so I think there's only one option- big! Definitely split it if you're with someone else. read more

I have been here about a dozen times in the last month the smoothies are amazing and the food is great when the items are prepared right. One four different occasions I have had issues twice with multiple issues in the same visit. Two times my order was totally forgotten. While the food is great the staff and excision need work. My first and last visit contained slimy, seemingly uncooked chicken on my Thai chicken salad. I posted a photo to their facebook page and was told that their chicken arrives already cooked and they "steam it to perfection". Obviously their idea of perfection is very different than mine. Aren't you excited to eat some pre-cooked most likely processed chicken for your lunch? Mmmmm....healthy! No thanks. Go across the street and get a quality fresh salad at VG's and spend way less! I have been coming here for a while now, at this point it has become nearly a weekly thing for me. I absolutely love the peanut butter cup and the chia banana boost smoothies-I customize them by taking away the turbinado(however that's spelled) and adding two scoops of whey protein. They both taste amazing and I can enjoy them without the guilt of having the extra sugar. This cafe is far better than the other one that I visit near my work which is why I am writing this review in the first place-so that the staff knows that they out do other locations and that their efforts are recognized. The staff here is friendly and professional and the smoothie quality is pretty consistent. At the other location, I have seen improper sanitation, I have gotten improperly blended smoothies, and very icy tasting smoothies, but here, they do a great job and I don't feel like I have to watch how my food is being prepared. As someone trained in infection control, I am very aware of cross contamination etc. and I appreciate when things are done properly. The fact that they do such a great job with everything overall is what keeps me coming back. So keep it up my friends! I hope the staff sees this and I hope that they know I appreciate their efforts! read more

I've been here many times. The fruit does not always taste fresh. Avoid the watermelon, it seems to go off faster. The people are all really nice, but they are obviously super new and not well trained on customer service. If you ask not to get an ingredient and ask them to just add something more of another ingredient (their choice), they charge you for an additional ingredient - weird. I also wish they had stevia or agave as a sweetener option, instead of just Splenda or sugar. I'll be trying the smoothie shop that is due to open in downtown Brighton. read more

I have been to Tropical Smoothie Cafe twice, both times at this location, since it is a mere four minute drive from my house. The first time was to retrieve a free 24oz (which is the standard size) classic smoothie of my choice. I got a blueberry bliss smoothie, and it was delicious. The first few sips tasted like pure banana, which made me wonder what the ratio of banana to blueberry/other berries was. However, after I stirred it up a little more and drank a few ounces, I tasted less banana, and the smoothie became much better tasting. The second time, I had a similar problem. I got a 24oz sunrise sunset smoothie, which started out as a dud for me because it tasted like pure frozen orange juice (one of the ingredients), but just like the last smoothie I got, it tasted less like orange juice and became much tastier after stirring it up and drinking a few ounces, but the blueberry bliss was my favorite of the two. With my smoothie, I got a half chicken Caesar salad, which was very reasonably sized and there was plenty of tasty chicken on top! My total came to $7.40, which was great, because getting a 24oz classic smoothie is just under $5.00 alone. They had meal options to add a half sandwich or salad for the $7.40 total. All in all, I will be back to try more of the smoothies/salads/sandwiches, and perhaps request less banana or orange juice and more of the other fruits in my next smoothie to even out the taste. read more
