Came here for lunch and ordered 3 tacos for 6.99. Chose the Thai, lime fish and Korean bbq. Overall they were pretty decent. Nothing else comes with meal for that price. Service was quick and prompt. The Korean and Thai tacos do have a spice to them!! I've only tried their mango and pineapple smoothie. It wasn't the best I have ever had. It was decent and would order again. I wish they offered different cup sizes. I paid 4.99 and got a large size. I'm not sure if it is an option or not. read more

Yesssss!! After moving back to Iowa from Hawaii and Vegas, I was sad that we didn't have a smoothie place to satisfy my smoothie cravings but lo and behold! I found out that they opened a Tropical Smoothie in Ankeny! Tropical smoothie is my absolute fave Smoothie place and I'm happy that they have one here, I just wish that it was closer to West Des Moines. Now, onto the review, they were very fast and friendly at this location. My only issues were that my smoothie wasn't as consistently good as the ones I've had in Hawaii and Vegas but they were definitely tasty and good. I've been here three times now and ordered the same thing but they all tasted a Lil different. Perfect or not enough flavor. I guess I'm just wanting consistency. Also, each time we've had conflicting answers on whether they give military discount or not. We've always been told "no" they don't in the Iowa locations until today when the worker actually saw a military discount button. Hmmm. In the other locations nationwide we've been to, they've all given us a discount. Anyway, glad you guys are here and thanks for bringing us some awesome smoothies! One of the newest food establishments in Ankeny, I am always excited to see my city getting these new and awesome places. This cafe offers a large variety of healthy smoothies with so many different flavors. Not only do they have healthy smoothies, they also offer breakfast sandwiches/wrap, flatbread wraps, toasted sandwiches, etc. There is not too much seating available here, but I don't see too many people eating or drinking their smoothie here, it seems like more of a place for people on the go. The smoothies come in one size only, 24 oz which is a pretty good size. The staff members were very friendly. We ordered the Avocolada (Avocado and Pina Colada mix) and the Peach N Silk (Peach, strawberry, banana) smoothies. I also got a Chicken Pesto toasted flatbread which looked too good to pass up. The Chicken Pesto flatbread was very good! The flavors were amazing, I'm not sure if it is healthy, because it tastes too good to be healthy! The Avocolada was not very good in my opinion, it tasted okay, but there were so many flavors going on I couldn't really enjoy the drink. The Peach N Silk was very good! Tastes like a smoothie mix with just a couple of flavors, very refreshing and satisfying! Going in I was nervous because I've tried "healthy" smoothies before and they've tasted chalky, flavorless, and expensive. For the superfood smoothies they were $4.99(most of the other smoothies are $4.49)and only have one size- but you get what you pay for. It's a large cup! I got the lean machine, which is banana and strawberry- quite good. Next time I'm going to try the sunrise sunset. I just love this place. They have fantastic smoothies. You can add a smoothie on for $3 to any food item, and the food items are great! My favorite is the a Chipotle Chicken and my guy is partial to the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wrap. My favorite smoothie is the açaí. Their staff are always super friendly. So I go here quite often BUT, this time I get my smoothie and there's CHUNKS OF GOD KNOWS WHAT all through out my smoothie. One chunk I'm pretty sure was pineapple which I'm allergic too. You can't be disappointed with anything you order here but please if you're a peanut butter lover, you'll need to get the Peanut Paradise! If you don't, they go whisper to the cooks, who stop what they're doing to give you a dirty look. And who knows what they do (with your order) to get even. This looks like a popular place that's always busy. The menu boasts tons of variety in terms of flavors for the smoothies. This place really caters towards a healthy lifestyle and includes four categories: low-fat smoothies get notified smoothies, supercharged smoothies, and indulgent smoothies. I ordered the Jetty Punch which had Strawberry and Banana and it was delicious! Usually, I feel like most places add too much sugar, artificial flavors, and syrup, but thought it was a good balance here. These drinks are made with real produce, which is fantastic. Along with drinks, they have wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, and even tacos. All the food leans on the healthy side so if you are on a health kick; this place is great for you! I had the chicken cranberry salad sandwich, really disappointed there was barely any chicken salad on the sandwich, mainly some sad looking lettuce. It had great flavor but I was disappointed in the value. The Bahama mama smoothie white chocolate, pineapple, banana, was delicious! I was super happy with this!!! My husband had the turkey apple club it was filled with slices of turkey, but overpowered by a really strong horseradish flavor. It was good, but again, nothing I would come back for. my husband was in love with the peanut butter smoothie, it tasted like a Reese's peanut butter cup with banana. Now the restaurant was clean however the staff was very lack luster. Cashier was not the most friendly, the gal who delivered our smoothies to the table was. It was a bit pricey and I was really looking forward by the other reviews and it fell flat. I may give it another chance but that will be a while. read more

Tropical Smoothie is probably my favorite smoothie place in the area. The smoothies are huge and are a pretty good price compared to similar places in the metro area. I haven't been disappointed yet with any smoothie I've tried, I like getting mine with Splenda to make it taste a tiny bit sweeter. The food is amazing as well!
