    Bang Bang Mac n Cheese

I was excited to try this place after hearing many reviews. We came on a Friday night and it was empty but seemed to have a busy drive thru and lots of carry out orders. I ordered the hot honey chicken Mac and cheese, but received the bang bang chicken. They offered to remake it, but I always feel bad so I ate it. The chicken & Mac was so good, the sauce was not my favorite. My family got the gyros, Thai chicken bowl, and Thai chicken wrap. They agreed it was good. Plenty of seating in the restaurant and fairly quick service. Hope to come back and try a few more menu items!

Moved from Beaverdale to Ankeny! Nice newer location! I like that this is even closer than before. Easy parking. Lots of space and they have a drive through! Brightly lit and a bright smile behind the counter as we came in. The staff was very friendly and helpful as we made our decisions. I was excited that the flash Brussels are easily added as a side to sandwiches or wraps. I got the Thai Chicken Crunch Wrap which includes chicken w/fresh slaw, cilantro, cheddar jack cheese, chow mein noodles & hoisin ginger sauce. It was very good. I filled up fast with the brussels sprouts. I really think this place has the best brussels sprouts in town. I cant get enough. I really also like the lemonade. They have "flavor of the day" lemonades and we really indulged. We will be back. We love supporting this location and trying more of their great dishes.

So I really wanted to like this place. The pb&j fries were decent but a little too decadent. The disappointing item was the OG fire mac and cheese. The chicken was very good but the Mac itself was overly watery and I just couldn't get through it. I may give them another chance down the road but water and cheese don't really mix for me.

My wife and I decided to check this place out to see what the hype was about- when we arrived I noticed you order at the counter and the awesome looking menu. My wife ordered the peanut chicken bowl with the pb&j fries- both delicious! And I ordered the cubano with Brussels, also very good! The cubano came in a toasted boogie with Dijon aioli and some sort of really good melted cheese! The Brussels were crunchy and cooked well with aioli and the choice of bacon! The pb&j fries were perfect and crunchy with pb & j drizzled on them (pretty self explanatory but I would recommend) the Thai peanut chicken bowl was also really good- it had chicken, lettuce, crunchy noodles, and a delicious peanut sauce drizzled on it. Our food was brought out to our table in like 5 minutes, the workers were all nice, and the place was clean. I would recommend this place and will be back! The only thing I would change is serving alcohol but I won't doc them for that

This menu has so many options I should of looked it up before I came. Not to busy at 5pm so that's highly recommended

I'm so glad this is in Ankeny now. Large menu to make everyone happy. Calm and peaceful experience with good food. Oh you must try the lemonade they have on hand. It is so good!

Would definitely come here again as a hangout spot. The Mac n cheese burger was to die for, so creamy and cheesy. The PBJ fries were soo good. I would definitely get those again. Staff was friendly. Place was clean.

Curbin' Cuisine knocked it out of the park with their PB&J Fries. Crispy fries drizzled with a Thai Peanut Sauce, Raspberry Chipotle Sauce, Cilantro & Sesame Seeds. Phenomenal! We also got the Thai Chicken Wrap w/ Flash Fried Brussels Sprouts and Philly Cheesesteak w/ Mac. I also recommend the Watermelon Lime-made! We will be back!

Jerk chicken sandwich. It is so delicious.

There just aren't that many places in Des Moines with really good Jerk Chicken. Curbin Cuisine is the exception to that rule. I've been getting this sandwich there for several years. It's less than $10 somehow, even in our current crazy economy. As you can see from the picture, they don't skimp on the meat. It is both bountiful and flavorful. The jerk rub has a nice spice level, but nothing too crazy. You shouldn't need any milk on standby for this guy, but you definitely won't be asking if there's really any jerk seasoning on this chicken. It comes with Cole slaw on it by default, which I leave off. I am just not a fan of cabbage and salad dressing. My favorite dining companion is a big fan of the Crab Cake Po Boy. That delightful sandwich is only available on Thursdays. If you enjoy crab cakes without spending a fortune (as is the entire premise of a Po Boy sandwich, of course), you will definitely enjoy it. The two cakes are generously sized and very tasty. We always get take out, so I always remove the crab cakes from the sandwich and give them a little ride in the toaster oven for extra crispiness, before returning them to their humble abode. Curbin' has great food at very reasonable prices, and it is run by very nice people. If you want a solid Jerk Chicken sandwich, or Crab Cakes on the cheap, look no further.

Some sort of liquid from the Havana Cubano Sandwich

Flavor was there. Prices are high for the portion size you get. My Cubano sandwich was served in a puddle of some liquid. I want to give these guys a chance- but there needs to be some more quality control.

This has been on my list of places to try for a long time. I've heard nothing but great things about it. My husband and I were pleased to learn they were open for dining in so we stopped in for dinner. I got the Volcano Pulled Pork sandwich and my husband got the Jamaican Jerk Chicken sandwich. We both loved our sandwiches but thought they needed a little more spice. My sandwich was supposed to be spicy but I detected no spice or seasoning on the pork at all. It definitely needed some. Both sandwiches came with slaw on them which were very flavorful and a nice accompaniment to the meats. I also got the side of fries with my sandwich. I thought the prices were kind of high for the sandwiches and the fries until I saw how big the portions were. You definitely get your money's worth. The ciabatta buns are a pretty good size and they load them up with meat and slaw. The fries were big enough for two people to share and had the perfect amount of crispiness. They're probably the best fries I've ever had. I'll definitely be getting those again. My only real complaint is that the bottom bun on the sandwiches should have been toasted, too, because the meat and slaw were kind of wet and were soaking through the bun. It was kind of a sopping mess, but it was delicious! The employees were super friendly and gave my husband free refills on his homemade lemonade. They even gave him a refill to go. Now that's service. The place is very cozy and welcoming. I really like neighborhood restaurants like this. There were so many yummy things on their menu that we'll definitely be back to try them. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you tried there.

I've been here twice and really like their food. They make these specialty fries and my favorite is the Parmesan Truffles fries. The PB & J fries is definitely an interesting one to try too. My friend got the Philly cheese steak fries and she really enjoyed it. The portion size to me is pretty generous, both times I ate here I was stuffed. I also tried the SPQB and it was delicious! I had the same lady take my order and shes very sweet. I plan to come back here again to try their other items very soon :)

The PB and J fries were amazing, very good and not too sweet. Plain fries have a great texture. The other dishes seem pretty bland though.

It's in the same building as Filet Steakhouse. Down on the Southeast corner... It's not exactly what I expected. Don't expect the atmosphere of Baratta's, Latin King, or Cosi Cucina. The front dining area is more informal. Don't take that wrong though... I'm not taking anything away from it. The place has a great vibe to it and I felt comfortable. I loved the NYC themed decor and the look of the place. There is at least one more dining area called the Manhattan room. I'm not sure if this is a private room or what it exactly takes to get in there... It sure looked pretty classy through the doorway though! The process is more or less order at the front counter. Pay when you order. Seat yourself. Self serve drinks (Coke products). Silverware and napkins can be picked up by the drink station. While you order at the counter the food is brought to your table when it is ready. Seating is all low top tables and chairs along with a few stools at the bar. I noticed a few people picking up menus, going to a seat and browsing the menu and then going up to order. This is probably what I would do next time if I was ordering anything but the pizza by the slice. The service we had was really good. From the gentlemen at the front counter and register...along with the staff who were working the floor dropping off food and bussing tables. The menu is quite extensive! Everyone can find something. Appetizers, soup, salads, pizza by the slice, round pies, square pies, thin and crispy, gluten free... Calzones, hot and cold sandwiches, pasta dishes, chicken and shrimp entrees, salmon, desserts, and kids meals. While I do like pizza... And they have a HUGE selection of pies in all kinds of combinations...by the slice or baked fresh... We both tried pasta dishes. 1x Shrimp Parmigiana 1x Stuffed Shells sub alfredo 2x House salads (creamy parm and blue cheese) 2x Fountain drinks Complimentary bread with our entrees The wait for our food was short. Our salads came out first. Everything was fresh and tasted good. One thing... Some of the pieces of lettuce could have been chopped a smaller. Made it a little harder to manage than it should have been... Easy fix though... Make sure you grab a knife. I'm not sure if that's normal or if it was a one off. Not a big deal. The pasta dishes hit the table along with the complimentary bread... If you go here just for pizza by the slice... You're really missing out! Their pasta dishes would easily rival any of the places I listed above when I mentioned atmosphere. The portions are large. I had to do something that I don't normally do. I took some home for the next day. I'm usually the guy who gets irritated because someone writes... "I can easily make three meals out of what I was served...!" When I order the same thing where they are...and I clean my plate. Lol All in all a great meal and I think we spent in the mid-$60 range before tip. Definitely going to back to check out some of the other items on the menu... And the pizza! https://nonnaspizzapastas.com/

For an appetizer we ordered the onion rings. They are shoestring rings which are my boyfriend's favorite and he loved these. His only complaint was that they needed more salt, but there was some at the table so he just added his own. The ranch that comes with them is also very good. For pizza, we split the Northsider and thought it was delicious. The pepperoni they have is so good. I'm not sure where they are getting it, but it's my favorite pepperoni. To us, it seemed a little pricey for pizza, but it was so delicious we thought it was worth it. We typically don't eat all our leftover pizza, but there was not a single slice left over. The service is wonderful and they even let us know ahead of time that pizza was running a little longer when we ordered which didn't bother us, but it was appreciated they told us. They even box your leftovers up which is so appreciated. Everyone was kind, the pizza was 10/10, and the drinks were cold. We will be back!

Uptown Food and Beverage was a fabulous stop, combining a tremendously cozy setting (booths/tables), ease of parking, location, and remarkable historic photos lining their walls. This place works well. Luckily, we had a superb server for our maiden voyage, as Adriana rocked! She helped us with menu options and was both kind and knowledgeable. We shared a tasty Caesar salad, and I appreciated that they served the dressing on the side without requesting it. Their thinner-crust pizza is delicious! We selected two, ordering their Margherita (olive oil, fresh chopped garlic, sweet basil, and topped with aroma tomatoes) and their Spicy Italian 16" options. Wowowowowowowowow! Both pizzas were fabulous, maintaining their consistency, and simply delicious. Thanks to fellow Yelper Dan T for his Spicy Italian recommendation. Sure, we brought home a lot of pizza, but this weekend will be better because of it. I learned they have a good lunch buffet (11-130PM), and we arrived during their 5-7 PM weekday Happy Hour but did not explore it. I had heard about their onion rings and saw an order at a nearby table that had me yearning for them on our next visit.

Not to be confused with Uptown Garage Brewing (also in Ankeny) or Uptown Bar & Grill in Grimes... I've been ordering and eating pretty much the same thing here since it was Encore Pizza in Johnston. Lol A large Spicy Italian pizza Italian cheese sticks And a fountain drink... Dennis Gibson opened Encore Pizza in Johnston years ago. He started out as an Ankeny Hawk, went on to ISU (he's an ISU hall of famer), was drafted by the Detroit Lions and later played for the San Diego Chargers and led his team to a Super Bowl appearance. And he's a heck of a nice guy... I loved Encore Pizza, but Dennis missed his hometown I guess and wanted to be headquartered in the community he grew up in. Encore Pizza closed and he opened a larger location in Ankeny and rebranded it Uptown Food and Beverage Co. Many of the menu items carried over from Encore to UF&BC and the menu has expanded past what it was. And another carry over is the high backed booths... Which I dearly love! These booths are big enough to seat six people easily... Seating at UF&BC is a bar and bar stools, both low and high top tables and chairs, and the aforementioned high backed booths. There is street parking along Maple and SW 3rd St. and a couple small parking areas within easy walking distance. Because of the parking and adjacent businesses you can be deceived on how busy Uptown Food and Beverage Co. looks. We arrived for lunch a little before noon yesterday. That's late for a Saturday lunch for us... Parking was pretty full, but when we walked in there was only one other couple in the restaurant... More people arrived in the next hour, but it wasn't near as busy as it looked from outside. Don't let a lot of cars be your barometer. Stick your head in or give them a call. They may not be as busy as you think they are. Italian Cheese Sticks... Five sticks breaded in Italian flour, fried golden brown, served with a cup of marinara Obviously hand cut and always served hot and molten! The Spicy Italian is described as red and Alfredo sauces, hot Italian sausage, banana peppers and jalapeños. This is probably my favorite pizza in the entire metro and as close as I get to thin crust. It is a thin crust, but it's not cracker thin. Rarely do I deviate from these two items. When it comes to UF&BC I'm a creature of habit or a one trick pony if you will... But I've never ordered anything off the menu that has disappointed me. The staff here is always top notch. Quick to greet you at the hostess station just to the Right as you walk in the door. Always on top of refills. And they check on you enough to make sure you have what you need, but not too much that they are bothersome. Your order is taken at the table and that's where your bill is presented and taken at the end of your meal. Cash and cards (but not American Express). For you lunch buffet fans there is a pizza and salad buffet Monday through Friday from 1100 AM - 130 PM. You can also order off the menu during the buffet hours if buffets aren't your jam... Truly one of my favorite spots in the metro and will never drop out of my rotation! https://uptownfoodandbeverage.com/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063493183495
