Bang Bang Mac n Cheese
Hannah V.

I was excited to try this place after hearing many reviews. We came on a Friday night and it was empty but seemed to have a busy drive thru and lots of carry out orders. I ordered the hot honey chicken Mac and cheese, but received the bang bang chicken. They offered to remake it, but I always feel bad so I ate it. The chicken & Mac was so good, the sauce was not my favorite. My family got the gyros, Thai chicken bowl, and Thai chicken wrap. They agreed it was good. Plenty of seating in the restaurant and fairly quick service. Hope to come back and try a few more menu items!

Moved from Beaverdale to Ankeny! Nice newer location! I like that this is even closer than before. Easy parking. Lots of space and they have a drive through! Brightly lit and a bright smile behind the counter as we came in. The staff was very friendly and helpful as we made our decisions. I was excited that the flash Brussels are easily added as a side to sandwiches or wraps. I got the Thai Chicken Crunch Wrap which includes chicken w/fresh slaw, cilantro, cheddar jack cheese, chow mein noodles & hoisin ginger sauce. It was very good. I filled up fast with the brussels sprouts. I really think this place has the best brussels sprouts in town. I cant get enough. I really also like the lemonade. They have "flavor of the day" lemonades and we really indulged. We will be back. We love supporting this location and trying more of their great dishes.

So I really wanted to like this place. The pb&j fries were decent but a little too decadent. The disappointing item was the OG fire mac and cheese. The chicken was very good but the Mac itself was overly watery and I just couldn't get through it. I may give them another chance down the road but water and cheese don't really mix for me.

My wife and I decided to check this place out to see what the hype was about- when we arrived I noticed you order at the counter and the awesome looking menu. My wife ordered the peanut chicken bowl with the pb&j fries- both delicious! And I ordered the cubano with Brussels, also very good! The cubano came in a toasted boogie with Dijon aioli and some sort of really good melted cheese! The Brussels were crunchy and cooked well with aioli and the choice of bacon! The pb&j fries were perfect and crunchy with pb & j drizzled on them (pretty self explanatory but I would recommend) the Thai peanut chicken bowl was also really good- it had chicken, lettuce, crunchy noodles, and a delicious peanut sauce drizzled on it. Our food was brought out to our table in like 5 minutes, the workers were all nice, and the place was clean. I would recommend this place and will be back! The only thing I would change is serving alcohol but I won't doc them for that

This menu has so many options I should of looked it up before I came. Not to busy at 5pm so that's highly recommended

I'm so glad this is in Ankeny now. Large menu to make everyone happy. Calm and peaceful experience with good food. Oh you must try the lemonade they have on hand. It is so good!

Would definitely come here again as a hangout spot. The Mac n cheese burger was to die for, so creamy and cheesy. The PBJ fries were soo good. I would definitely get those again. Staff was friendly. Place was clean.

Curbin' Cuisine knocked it out of the park with their PB&J Fries. Crispy fries drizzled with a Thai Peanut Sauce, Raspberry Chipotle Sauce, Cilantro & Sesame Seeds. Phenomenal! We also got the Thai Chicken Wrap w/ Flash Fried Brussels Sprouts and Philly Cheesesteak w/ Mac. I also recommend the Watermelon Lime-made! We will be back!

Jerk chicken sandwich. It is so delicious.

There just aren't that many places in Des Moines with really good Jerk Chicken. Curbin Cuisine is the exception to that rule. I've been getting this sandwich there for several years. It's less than $10 somehow, even in our current crazy economy. As you can see from the picture, they don't skimp on the meat. It is both bountiful and flavorful. The jerk rub has a nice spice level, but nothing too crazy. You shouldn't need any milk on standby for this guy, but you definitely won't be asking if there's really any jerk seasoning on this chicken. It comes with Cole slaw on it by default, which I leave off. I am just not a fan of cabbage and salad dressing. My favorite dining companion is a big fan of the Crab Cake Po Boy. That delightful sandwich is only available on Thursdays. If you enjoy crab cakes without spending a fortune (as is the entire premise of a Po Boy sandwich, of course), you will definitely enjoy it. The two cakes are generously sized and very tasty. We always get take out, so I always remove the crab cakes from the sandwich and give them a little ride in the toaster oven for extra crispiness, before returning them to their humble abode. Curbin' has great food at very reasonable prices, and it is run by very nice people. If you want a solid Jerk Chicken sandwich, or Crab Cakes on the cheap, look no further.

Some sort of liquid from the Havana Cubano Sandwich

Flavor was there. Prices are high for the portion size you get. My Cubano sandwich was served in a puddle of some liquid. I want to give these guys a chance- but there needs to be some more quality control.

This has been on my list of places to try for a long time. I've heard nothing but great things about it. My husband and I were pleased to learn they were open for dining in so we stopped in for dinner. I got the Volcano Pulled Pork sandwich and my husband got the Jamaican Jerk Chicken sandwich. We both loved our sandwiches but thought they needed a little more spice. My sandwich was supposed to be spicy but I detected no spice or seasoning on the pork at all. It definitely needed some. Both sandwiches came with slaw on them which were very flavorful and a nice accompaniment to the meats. I also got the side of fries with my sandwich. I thought the prices were kind of high for the sandwiches and the fries until I saw how big the portions were. You definitely get your money's worth. The ciabatta buns are a pretty good size and they load them up with meat and slaw. The fries were big enough for two people to share and had the perfect amount of crispiness. They're probably the best fries I've ever had. I'll definitely be getting those again. My only real complaint is that the bottom bun on the sandwiches should have been toasted, too, because the meat and slaw were kind of wet and were soaking through the bun. It was kind of a sopping mess, but it was delicious! The employees were super friendly and gave my husband free refills on his homemade lemonade. They even gave him a refill to go. Now that's service. The place is very cozy and welcoming. I really like neighborhood restaurants like this. There were so many yummy things on their menu that we'll definitely be back to try them. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you tried there.

I've been here twice and really like their food. They make these specialty fries and my favorite is the Parmesan Truffles fries. The PB & J fries is definitely an interesting one to try too. My friend got the Philly cheese steak fries and she really enjoyed it. The portion size to me is pretty generous, both times I ate here I was stuffed. I also tried the SPQB and it was delicious! I had the same lady take my order and shes very sweet. I plan to come back here again to try their other items very soon :)

The PB and J fries were amazing, very good and not too sweet. Plain fries have a great texture. The other dishes seem pretty bland though.

I had no idea if there was meat choices (there isn't) or toppings or sides (there are sides like fries) I'm glad I asked for the menu, as I almost thought about the nachos. Which I would have not known about if I hadn't seen a menu. We did not appreciate the rudeness when she asked if we were ready to order and I replied how would we know we haven't seen a menu. Just for her to roll her eyes and come back and toss them on the table. That attitude made me not want to spend my money there and my tip absolutely reflected her poor behavior. She could have earned 20 from me alone out of our group, instead of what was left over from the change. I work in the service industry and I appreciate both good food and service and it also would have been nice if our checks were correct but I have learned to pick and chose my battles but that also helped contribute to her not super tip. To the taco loved the shell it's like fry bread and one taco is the entire basket you have been warned. Sadly it wasn't really warm my fries were not even close to warm and definitely floppy. Really the stinker of the show was the server, so don't expect much.

We found our seat and were immediately greeted by a new server Rylie she was super sweet and gave us time to go over the menu. She did let us know she was new which was good because if we had questions that she didn't know she was willing to find out. Our drinks came quickly and were cold. Our food was good and fresh. The waitress came back multiple times to check on us. I have read some rather mean reviews on this restaurant and I do have to say people should understand how long these servers and cooks have to work. Some of them are pulling 12 hour shifts. Be patient, it seems they are trying to fix some of the previous issues. Again I will reiterate our service was great. The ambiance was like a pub with clean tables and the restrooms were clean as well. We will be back.

We got to choose our tables and saw the sign right away that we may have more than one server. First waitress ordered our drinks and took 15 MINUTES to get and one drink was a canned beverage! She seemed ditzy and confused on what drinks were even being ordered. Once we did get the drinks they were warm! Who wants to drink a warm draft or canned beer?? We get our warm drinks and she walked away without asking if we were ready to order. So now we are sitting there for 15 more minutes waiting to order our dinner and appetizers. Meanwhile, our waitress is making eye contact and doing miscellaneous things and isn't taking our order AND THEN SHE GOES HOME FOR THE NIGHT! Couldn't even be bothered to take our orders or ask how our drinks are before she leaves. A big table has been sitting beside us for a little bit, and I notice her point to their table and she told another server to take care of them so now they are getting their drinks fast and food ordered before us and we were there for 30 minutes already waiting for us to order. By this point, our drinks are empty and no one has noticed or talked to us. We are clearly wanting to order and other servers and people behind the bar are noticing us and looking at us. FINALLY a server for a booth talked to us and we decided to leave. Now she only stopped because we kept looking at her otherwise we would still be sitting there waiting till this day. A lot of young girl waitresses who only care about talking to each other instead of doing their jobs properly. So much for you will experience different waiters because we could've even have half of one...

There were about 30 people in our group . They had already ordered the table appetizers before I arrived consisting of The Deviled Eggs with bacon, Artichoke Spinach dip and Crab Rangoon dip. All were delicious even though a bit cold from sitting for a while before they got passed around. We had 2 servers that I didn't get names but both were very attentive and managed the group very well . Everyone's orders were taken efficiently, I got the Frutti Di Mare in a white sauce with the seafood bisque soup. The entire dish was delicious with the exception of the bread, it was rock hard, but I didn't need it anyway . The bisque soup came out too cool for my liking but the waitress had a new bowl served at the right temp and it was perfect. I would eat a whole vat of that. The meal was great, shrimp perfectly prepared and fresh and snappy, plenty of mussels and a large portion providing a take home amount that served as dinner the next night too. I also indulged in a key lime pie because if rave reviews. I was not disappointed. Overall the place is elegant and classy enough for a suit and tie but still casual enough for shorts and flip flops. It's in the same building as Filet Steakhouse. Down on the Southeast corner... It's not exactly what I expected. Don't expect the atmosphere of Baratta's, Latin King, or Cosi Cucina. The front dining area is more informal. Don't take that wrong though... I'm not taking anything away from it. The place has a great vibe to it and I felt comfortable. I loved the NYC themed decor and the look of the place. There is at least one more dining area called the Manhattan room. I'm not sure if this is a private room or what it exactly takes to get in there... It sure looked pretty classy through the doorway though! The process is more or less order at the front counter. Pay when you order. Seat yourself. Self serve drinks (Coke products). Silverware and napkins can be picked up by the drink station. While you order at the counter the food is brought to your table when it is ready. Seating is all low top tables and chairs along with a few stools at the bar. I noticed a few people picking up menus, going to a seat and browsing the menu and then going up to order. This is probably what I would do next time if I was ordering anything but the pizza by the slice. The service we had was really good. From the gentlemen at the front counter and register...along with the staff who were working the floor dropping off food and bussing tables. The menu is quite extensive! Everyone can find something. Appetizers, soup, salads, pizza by the slice, round pies, square pies, thin and crispy, gluten free... Calzones, hot and cold sandwiches, pasta dishes, chicken and shrimp entrees, salmon, desserts, and kids meals. While I do like pizza... We both tried pasta dishes. 1x Shrimp Parmigiana 1x Stuffed Shells sub alfredo 2x House salads (creamy parm and blue cheese) 2x Fountain drinks Complimentary bread with our entrees The wait for our food was short. Our salads came out first. Everything was fresh and tasted good. One thing... Some of the pieces of lettuce could have been chopped a smaller. Made it a little harder to manage than it should have been... Easy fix though... Make sure you grab a knife. I'm not sure if that's normal or if it was a one off. Not a big deal. The pasta dishes hit the table along with the complimentary bread... If you go here just for pizza by the slice... You're really missing out! Their pasta dishes would easily rival any of the places I listed above when I mentioned atmosphere. The portions are large. I had to do something that I don't normally do. I took some home for the next day. I'm usually the guy who gets irritated because someone writes... "I can easily make three meals out of what I was served...!" When I order the same thing where they are...and I clean my plate. Lol All in all a great meal and I think we spent in the mid-$60 range before tip. Definitely going to back to check out some of the other items on the menu... And the pizza! https://nonnaspizzapastas.com/
