Gators

I think there's about two or three drinks that you could order that will give you some type of huge container for you to carry out as a souvenir. The horny gator is my favorite flavor that it's tolerable.. There's a tropical punch type of flavor. That is also good. But I think the one that everyone wants to go home with to carry around is the grenade which Taste disgusting . However, it's a good time the bar staff treats you really nice. Ironically, we stopped twice in one day, one on our own and another one for a bar crawl tour.

This place is a guilty pleasure. If you are going to go for a sugary frozen drink, you may as well go for the original. The place wasn't crowded on a Saturday afternoon, and the band that played was actually pretty good! We just stopped for - brief drink. In the end, I think I prefer purple drank from Jean Lafitte's blacksmith shop, it's more discreet, but still will fall for a grenade from time to time.

We stopped in to get a hand grenade to go, and the experience did not disappoint. I asked the bartender if I should do the original or a flavor, and he said, "They all get you drunk." I couldn't tell if he was having an off day or if he leans into the snarky side of service, but it was kind of charming. The drink was incredibly sweet and very full of booze.

Never a dull moment in Tropical Isle, when I land in Nola it is always my 2nd stop. Hotel first and then Tropical Isle. I LOVE frozen hand grenades. They are soooo good, and they are strong. There was a live band playing when we were there..

Is it really a trip to Bourbon Street if you didn't have at least one Hand Grenade? I think NOT...which is why we made multiple, questionable albeit, trips to Tropical Isle during our trip to NOLA and Bourbon Street! As with most bars on Bourbon, they are a little trashy, dirty and always crowded...but even with that, they are always fun! We popped in this Tropical Isle for a few hand grenades before wandering back out onto Bourbon. The drinks are dangerous, so pace yourselves...as they sneak up on you really quick! The famed Hand Grenade is basically a well drink with a bunch of mix-ins with the sole purpose of a good time on Bourbon, and it hits the mark every time. Service here is to the point. They are beyond busy at most times, so get in where you can fit in, order and keep it moving. Overall, Tropical Isle is a staple on any trip to New Orleans!

This spot never disappoints! The hand grenade is always the best! The service is spectacular! The bartenders are always warm and welcoming! It's just amazing to sit and enjoy it here! Nice bar and breeze sipping on the best drink in N'awlins!

Tropical Isle is the spot for a Hand Grenade on Bourbon Street. I don't know what's in that secret recipe, but it works--one of these will have you feeling good in no time. Plus, refills are half off, so the walk back is even more fun. A New Orleans must!

I came here specifically for the Shark Attack drink and it was everything I'd hoped for. They rang the bell, blew the whistle and even played into my video lol! I loved it!

A must for Bourbon Street. The famous hand grenade! Fun atmosphere, the bartender is a cool guy. Live music.

If you're on Bourbon Street, trying a Hand Grenade at Tropical Isle is a must! This drink is legendary for a reason sweet, strong, but dangerously smooth. It has a tropical, melon-like flavor that goes down way too easily, but don't be fooled... it packs a punch! I got the frozen one and I just love these every trip to New Orleans I go down to get one. The vibe at Tropical Isle is lively and fun, with great music and a true New Orleans party atmosphere. Whether you're sipping inside or taking it to go while strolling Bourbon Street, a Hand Grenade guarantees a good time. Pro tip: Pace yourself, these are stronger than they taste! Would definitely recommend for the full NOLA experience.

I came to Tropical Isle Original with one goal in mind and it was accomplished! The infamous hand grenade was one of the many items on my bucket list to try in NOLA and it was such a good frozen daquiri. For $13 I was impressed with the taste and the vibes at the bar, as I spotted the wall art and jammed to Rihanna for a few minutes. The bartender was friendly too. I would come back for another one if on Bourbon Street.

Would not let us stand inside to catch an uber unless we bought their drinks. I'm like really? It's pouring like cats and dogs and we gots to pay you to get outta the rain. Unbelievable. But I'm a point out the place right across the street, Big Easy Pizza was awesome and after this I'm giving all your stars to them.

My first time in NO this place came highly recommended for their hand grenade drinks. The Tropical Isle bars are a NO go to. We had amazing service and were grenaded right away! This location has live music, unfortunately, we weren't there to enjoy it. The drink wasn't very sweet, but tasty . I definitely would go back and have it again. Check out a New Orleans staple

It was made with Hennessy, lemon juice, simple syrup, crème de cassis, St-Germain, and ginger ale, garnished with a dried lemon wheel and "Filthy" cherries -- smooth, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. My date had the Royal Street Heat, crafted by Sean Holcomb, made with St. George Chile Pepper Vodka, agave nectar, peach purée, Hellfire bitters, ginger beer, and a Tajin rim. It had the perfect mix of sweet heat and flavor. Both drinks were so good we ended up ordering two rounds while sitting at the rotating bar listening to a live jazz band. Watching the bartenders work while slowly moving around the bar made the whole experience unique and entertaining. Definitely a must-visit spot in New Orleans.

On a previous trip we had seen an evening show at Snug Harbor and wanted to experience something else. We had read good things about the Spotted Cat and their sets run all afternoon. We were a little confused about price because one of our guidebooks said there is no cover but you're supposed to order drinks. There was a doorman who charged us something like $5 each (still cheap!) and we ordered beer and a N/A drink at the bar and listened to a great jazz group playing old-time jazz. Interior is tiny and you're pretty close to the performers. We were standing at first but eventually found some seats as people left. There is even a back courtyard if you want to be outside, although I don't know if you can hear the music or not. We bought a CD from the band and enjoyed it when we got back home. All in all, a great New Orleans experience.

Overall had a nice time enjoying the music!

While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.

The presentation of the food came was amazing. We ordered the linguine and added meatballs, which was well worth it. We also ordered the shrimp & grits, which included Brussels sprouts. Boy, it was sure nice to get some vegetables in my stomach after eating all that yummy fried food during our stay! All in all, both dishes were delicious. It is a little on the pricey side, but after several days of eating in the touristy area of the French Quarter, this was truly a welcome change. Service was polite and attentive. I always appreciate the staff's efforts by making simply making eye contact and smiling (which they did). Seems trivial but I think those small things says a lot about a business. The ambiance is amazing, plus velvet, emerald and sapphire tone, glitzy, and feels like a good photo op. The bar and cocktail menu looked expansive. However, I was going to be hopping on a meeting, so I could not partake, unfortunately. A group got this impressive tower of espresso martini and everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks! I wanted that New Orleans seafood but had late lunch, so I opted for just the crispy gulf shrimp on cheesy grits. I really wished I can hungrier because the dish ended up being very heavy. The shrimp were nice and crispy. The charred Brussels sprouts gave me the false sense that this was a healthy dish because I was getting my veggie intake. The bacon jam was sweet and went well with the Brussels sprouts. I loved the combination of the cheesy grits and the Crystal hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo. I got the marinated olives to go so I could have a little snack later. They were just stuff I feel I could get in a jar... not really sure if I could justify the price. I think this is a fine place if you're looking for a photogenic night out drinking with a group of friends. Could be really cute for brunch!
