Their collection is incredible. They literally had a Bajan cherry tree... I mean, who has a Bajan cherry tree?!?! One of them is now in my back yard They also carry every type of lawn ornament, wind chime, pot, and garden accessory you could ever want, making it a one-stop shop for anything garden-related. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about what they do. No matter what question you have - soil, care tips, sunlight, pests, they know the answer and are happy to help. All of the plants are healthy, well-maintained, and very reasonably priced. You can tell they take pride in the quality of what they sell. This nursery offers a fantastic selection of tropical fruits, which is especially meaningful to me given my Caribbean roots. I want all the tropical fruits! Mangoes are my absolute favorite. I've also bought some great houseplants here, including my string of pearls. Recently, we picked up a variety of herbs like thyme, cilantro, basil, parsley, and chives to start an herb garden on our screened-in back patio, and they're already thriving. Best nursery online. They service Lowe's they CARE about their plants. I have NEVER gotten a house plants, a fruit tree, a hedge, or a flowering bush from tropic plants that has not thrived I cannot say that about any other nursery online. I would love to go there someday in person. This is an unassuming nursery on the side of the road, but their plant selection, outstanding customer service, and reasonable prices make stopping at this nursery a must when looking to buy quality plants while getting expert advise. I was looking for a bonsai tree. I picked one out, and a new pot. They offered to re-potted into the new one I bought at no charge. Shelton is the guy they re-potted the bonsai. While he was doing that, Shelton did more than just change it from one pot to the other. He gave me an education on bonsai care, added some decorations to enhance the bonsái, and did a great job at answering all my questions. I have lived near this place for over a decade and visited today. What a treat! Their variety of plants, the knowledge of the folks working there plus their helpfulness is exceptional. Bonus for me, they have a couple of great gift shops, a tortoise walking around and some talkative parrots. My sister bought a few plants. Love discovering new plant nurseries in South Florida. Came across Tropic Plants on Yelp and decided to come explore. There are a lot of landscaping plants available. Also some small outdoor plants like the jasmine and some fruit trees like mango. Picked up an air plant for my office and a small venus fly trap for my windowsill at home. Both seemed lively and fresh. The staff was friendly and helpful. They don't have a lot of house plants but if you're looking more for outdoor plants and flowers, they have a lot. We like the selections that are available from this company. My wife was the one that ordered from them online, based on selections. They were one of the few ones that had a Double Hibiscus. I was looking for a banana plant for my backyard. I have been wanting to plant one for a while but I have never gotten around to it. I was at the Home Depot this past Sunday and saw they had a couple of them but they were huge, and I would need to rent a truck to bring it home. I called around and I found Tropical Plants and they carry smaller 3 gallon size ones. Once I got there I realized that I have seen this nursery many times. While driving on University Drive in Tamarac. I am giving them four stars because the person who helped us was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information as far as how to plant and how to treat our banana tree after we get it on the ground. But the actual nursery itself needs a lot of attention. I saw a lot of half dead plants. Some plants were very expensive while my banana tree for instance was only $25 I don't really get their pricing, but then again I don't know what plans are rare and what plans are more common. But I do feel that they need to pretty up the place a little more. I haven't had very good experience with plans I buy at nurseries versus plants I buy at Home Depot so time will tell if this banana plant will stand the test of time. I will do everything the shopkeeper told us to do and I will do some research of my own but we will see. So far we had a good experience here read more

Oh my gosh this nursery is every plant geeks dream. There are beautiful gifts (I was picking up gifts for a friend) that are in adorable pots and beautiful decorations. I was greeted by the owner and every other employee working asked if I needed help as I looked around. The owner let me know that I could have any plant moved to a terracotta or fancy pot and they had a large selection to choose from. They have tons of succulents, cacti, etc to choose from. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a rush and didn't get to look around too much or see the aviary, but I was very impressed by what I saw, I got an aloe plant and a beautiful bromeliad (I think- I'm no plant expert, please fact check me on this. I also did not ask enough questions because I was in a rush). One of the staff members helped me pick out appropriate sized pots and repotted them for me. I will be back and take more pictures and ask more questions! Their staff gave me watering directions as well and boxed up the plants for me. A+ nursery and customer service! read more

But he knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING. And it's not just BS to sell you more stuff. He...and she...really take the time to explain everything to you, I've been passing this place for 20 years and never went in, but I recently started a big vegetable, fruit and herb garden in my backyard, all in containers. I had one passion fruit plant growing like crazy out of a container and just bought an arbor trellis for it. So I figured I would get another plant or two to share the trellis. And they had two beautiful specimens left which I bought. Not going to waste my time elsewhere from here in on. I'm going here for everything...most important of which...is their KNOWLEDGE! I love coming here because the plants are so affordable and the staff are so cute! It's so peaceful to walk around and look at the plants. They also have a a bird house area as well as little ponds. If they don't have enough of the plants you want, you can leave your name and they'll give you a call when they get more. It's out of the way but you'll save so much by stopping by here first! My introduction to this little business was when I sent my husband to get some fertilizer for my new orchids. I had never grown them before and these people were supposed to know what they were doing. After using the fertilizer for a year, nothing much was happening with the plants. I did some research and found that they had sold him the wrong kind of fertilizer, the NPK levels were only for blooming plants and that left a big chunk of the year. Next we went looking for fruit trees. They had a fairly good selection, but nothing special, prices were about average. They did have a few cute things in the building, but nothing really unique. The last time I went, I needed some tomatoes. They said that they had a good selection. I first asked the employee about bush tomatoes as opposed to vine tomatoes. She informed me, in a fairly snooty manner, that all tomatoes grow on vines. I told her that yes, they do, but some are a bush type of plant that doesn't ramble all over and have to be trellised. She didn't get it. I thought maybe she was more used to horticultural terms, so I went with "determinate" plants as opposed to "indeterminate." That went completely over her head. They also didn't have any that were disease resistant, so I just went elsewhere. While this isn't the worst nursery I've ever been too, two stars definitely covers it. read more

What a wonderful place! On a Sunday afternoon I was looking to extend my home garden. Upon arrival I easily found a parking spot in their parking lot. They have nice hours and are closed Monday and Tuesday. On Sunday's they are open until four. When I entered a man came to greet us and offer his assistance. We explained what we were looking for and he immediately brought us to the correct area in the shop to browse. We found a beautiful plant at a very reasonable price. We asked the man questions about him which he beautifully answered with his knowledge and expertise. The man then showed us where the pots are and recommended the size for our plant. After we purchased our beautiful new garden addiction we went into the back where they have their garden and zoo. It was so beautiful and relaxing. They had a huge variety of plants and statues. In the zoo were turtles and birds. The birds were amazing!! They were dancing and saying hello. The turtles were huge. I would very very much recommend this wonderful, well loved place!!
