What an eclectic experience going to this nursery. My GF and I really had a great time exploring the grounds and greenhouses and seeing all of the varieties of plants. We really didn't have any specific game plan on what we were looking for, just were looking for some interesting plants at reasonable prices and the staff was so knowledgeable about each one and really gave us great advice on care and how/where to plant. We left with some alocasia's, vines, aroids and a few others. If you're going, plan to where closed toed shoes if you really want to walk the property and make sure to etch out an hour or two because there is so much to see. read more

I really wanted to get a plant for my balcony and Jesse Durko's nursery was the name that stuck out to me when I searched it on Yelp and knew I had to give it a try! It's nestled within the heart of Davie which I knew would mean authentic South Florida vibes. It definitely did not disappoint! When I arrived I drove through the property to park and then was greeted by a bunch of friendly groundskeepers there. I was amazed at how many different species of plants they had there. Mike was super friendly, and even gave me a tour around the property on a golf cart. He described a bunch of the interesting species, how tall they got, and even the countries they originated from. I couldn't believe that there was literally dozens of rows to make up hundreds, even thousands of different plant species on the property. They even have a garden section around natural bodies of water with so many lovely plants there. It's difficult to decide what you even want to buy! I ended up with a plant that caught my eye and was shocked at how affordable it is! A nursery like this is something I highly recommend to visit and support as it's so upsetting to see the nearby properties being bulldozed and turned into new houses. I really hope Jesse Durkos Nursery thrives for years to come because it really is a gem within Davie. read more

I called this nursery to get a price on Clusas now. The person on the phone that answered I don't have any right now and they're horrible. this person never came up for air. Never asked me any other questions. Apparently doesn't really wanna sell anything. Doesn't know how to determine anyone's needs very busy, spewing what he thinks his expert knowledge is saying They're not good they're this. They're that// was speaking so fast saying you're better off getting this that and the other thing I was not even allowed to have a conversation and he said good luck to you and hung up . I guess this person doesn't want anyone's business or doesn't want to teach anyone anything he just wants to be bossy and be a smart Alec because that's my impression don't waste your time here. read more

Wow!! What an incredible nursery. I was lucky enough to get a personal tour from Jesse Durko after he heard me oooohing and aaahhhing in the shade house. I hopped in his golf cart and showed me his marvelously hand sculpted gardens where he's lived for 30 years. He said the 8 acres was once a cow pasture and he planted every plant there, over 300 types of palms! We then drove back down to the nursery and he showed me all possible selections I could use for my project. Cycads, exotic palms of all kinds, agave, bromeliads, etc. INCREDIBLE! I ended up going with 2 lipstick palms, Fiji palm, zebra bromeliads, and Licuala palm to finish my project. A truly inspiring day on this Icon's property. read more

Jesse Durko's Nursery is a hidden and special place of approximately 10 acres of all sort of plants, flowers and trees. Definitely worth a visit! This place is one of the finest collection of tropical plants one will find in South Florida. Beautiful nursery! And Mr. Durko's hospitality is not to be missed either. My friend and I attended a Plant Show at a lovely park in Wilton Manors Richardson Historic Park. That is where we met Mr. Durko. His collection was not like any others there. As I have a love for tropical plants I was drawn in by the collection that he had on display. In particular there was a four feet shrub called Yesterday Today and Tomorrow. This I thought would make an excellent hedge in my yard to compliment the pool area. So I contacted my landscaper so that we could install as soon as possible. We are very happy with the results and it is currently in constant bloom which is wonderful considering it is December. So today while visiting a friend who also loves plants thought we would stop by. His collection at his nursery is probably the best I have seen in all my years of living in South Florida. He personally gave us a tour of his grounds. Needless to say we both left with additional plants we just had to get. If you love plants that are out of the ordinary than this place is for you. read more

A wonderful hidden gem! This nursery has a wide selection of natives, butterfly plants, and more! The property is large, so they use golf carts to get around. It's easy to spend a lot of time here browsing through everything! We discovered this as a great place to find nectar and host plants to support our butterfly colonies at home. It can be difficult to find someone, so I usually go and start collecting plants, setting them beside the cart path, until someone shows up. If no one comes around, I leave my selection there and go to the office and wait a bit- eventually you'll get helped. FYI- they do take credit cards. read more

Nothing is sweeter than coming across a hidden gem. That is exactly what Jesse Durko's Nursery is. It doesn't come up first in an internet search, no big flashy signage - but what it does have is top notch, knowledgeable staff (I lucked out and actually got to work with Jesse), a collection of all kinds of plants, bushes, shade, sun - all of it. I was looking specifically for butterfly attracting bushes. I called many other nurseries, some much closer to my house, but none of them had what I was looking for. When I called this nursery there was no answer, but something told me (I guess really the excellent Yelp! reviews) that I had to check it out. I told Jesse what I was looking for, we jumped in a golf cart together and he showed me many, many options - row after row of butterfly attracting bushes. This is what makes an independent business special and unique - customer service and knowledge of product sold. I know I won't go anywhere else for my plants in Southern Florida in the future. i came to visit this hidden gem during my annual trip to florida. upon driving up onto the property it felt like entering jurassic park! the mature aroid plants in the garden are spectacular. they had a wide array of plants for sale and i was lucky enough to get one of my wishlist plants during my trip. i will definitely be back next year!! read more

I had the pleasure of working with Jesse directly. He put in a little garden for me and it is absolutely spectacular. I was working on a very limited budget and even on that he outperformed himself. I live in a condo and it's limited to what we can have. As time went on I have become the president of our homeowners association and we are now going to contract with Jesse to put in a larger community garden. He will prepare a drawing for you if you want but more than that he will show you certain things where he will place them and leave it up to him. By his own admittance he is a very visual person and he has a vision and design for your garden. Trust him in the process you will be very very pleased. read more

What a hidden gem this is! This nursery has a great selection of plants at great prices. What really stood out to me is how almost enchanting the place is: aside from rows and rows of plants there is a garden with orchids and flowering bromeliads.. just all sorts of things. Very scenic and almost untouched. It may be a bit hard to find someone on the property to either ask a question or purchase a plant but the quiet and peaceful atmosphere really pays off. While other nurseries also being focus to garden supplies and accessories this nursery is strictly for plants. read more

Best customer service! We walked into the nursery wondering where to start! A nice gentlemen asked what I was looking for which were fragrant jasmine and he took us on an adventure! We learned about all the types of jasmine and gave us tips on how to take care of them. I'm really happy I found someone with a lot of knowledge and pride in there work. read more

Absolutely the best place to go if you're looking for the perfect tropical landscaping plants. When we moved here, 3 years ago, our yard was dismal. We were referred to Jesse by a new neighbor. We had a very limited budget, but he was willing to do his best with what we had. His best was totally amazing. We wanted a butterfly garden, and that's what we got. Within just weeks after installing the little plants, the lady across the street said she couldn't believe the change - "It looks like a lovely painting," was her comment. That's because Jesse is not just a landscaper, the man is an artist. He travels all over the world looking for new varieties. When you go, and you should go, call ahead and make an appt. with him, so he has time to personally help you. I did read the other review and find myself completely baffled. He has bent over backwards to be fair with us on pricing and replacing plants that didn't perform. Maybe the person that was working for him then, is no longer there. I just can't say enough about the work that he has done for us. read more

I don't know plants... but Jessie does! I had a yard that desperately needed help and help he did. The plants were selected according to the colors we liked and how they would perform in our yard. Not being a plant person, I made some boo boos but Jessie fixed them. He has replaced some plants for me, added some others that he thought would work well and has always helped with my questions. The nursery is ok however the practices of one of the workers (Janine Griffiths) are very deceiving, misleading, scammish and right out dishonest. She asked for a portion of the deposit to later come up with every excuse not to return it, claiming she paid for the plants with the deposit when i just confirmed with the owner she bought them before i gave her a deposit, all of this and i havent even received a plant! BUYER BEWARE! To clarify: Janine works at the nursery but is a freelance agent. If the owner uses Janine to install your job then stay away, there are plenty of great nurseries in SOFL and honest, skilled and licensed landscapers out there. read more

We appreciated that both times we came to the nursery he rode up to the parking lot and then drove us around, taking time to show us around and help us to make decisions.
