I rarely leave negative reviews, but after my experience at Trophy in Dallas, I feel people should know what they're walking into.
My boyfriend and I arrived early and were some of the first people there. Throughout the night we spent a significant amount of money on drinks, tipped the DJ, and eventually purchased a drink tower for our table. The venue itself was noticeably dirty, but we decided to overlook it and enjoy our night.
At one point I went to the restroom and my boyfriend walked me there. We were gone for maybe three minutes. When we returned, everything from our table was gone--including our drink tower, which had cost around $150, plus several additional drinks. Our group told us staff had rushed outside because of a very light sprinkle of rain and started clearing tables. According to them, they repeatedly tried telling staff that the tower belonged to our group and not to throw it away, but nobody listened.
When we asked what happened, we were told the drinks had been discarded. The staff eventually offered a few cheap shots as compensation for hundreds of dollars worth of drinks. When my boyfriend declined and asked for a better resolution, the conversation immediately became hostile.
Instead of trying to de-escalate the situation, multiple bartenders began talking over him at once. Anyone would be frustrated after paying that much money only to have their drinks thrown away. From my perspective, the staff seemed more interested in arguing than resolving a customer complaint.
What happened next was even worse. Security got involved, including one guard who had made us uncomfortable throughout the night. Rather than helping calm the situation, security escalated it. After we mentioned pursuing the matter through proper channels, we felt targeted and were followed inside the venue. I turned around and saw multiple security staff surrounding my boyfriend while he repeatedly told them to leave him alone.
The professionalism completely disappeared at that point. Security and staff were making inappropriate comments, placing responsibility on me for managing the situation, and one security guard even made a comment suggesting I should "find a new man." That is not acceptable behavior from venue staff under any circumstances.
Eventually we were forced out of the venue despite trying to leave peacefully. The entire experience went from a customer service issue to what felt like harassment.
Between the dirty environment, the loss of expensive drinks that were never properly replaced, the disrespectful customer service, and the unprofessional behavior from security, I cannot recommend Trophy to anyone. Dallas has plenty of great bars on Elm Street. In my opinion, your money is better spent elsewhere.
