I was craving a hot dog and was happy to find not one far from us! Unfortunately, the chilly cheese dog left me underwhelmed as it was loaded with cheesy sauce but hardly any chili. The star of the show were the fries but I specially drove out to try their hot dog. May be next time if I am in the area and end up in here I would try a traditional chicago hot dog instead. Visited the area and was at the farmers market prior to eating here for lunch. I've never had a Chicago dog before, so not a whole lot to compare it to, but I enjoyed this combo. Was checking out the farmers market in the area and happened to see this spot as we were walking toward some shops in the area. I love me a good hotdog, so the only acceptable thing to do was stop for one here. Some of us in the group are from out of town and never had a Chicago dog- perfect opportunity to give it a try. Let's just say 10/10.... I've been missing out my entire life! I loved it so much and completely forgot to take a photo before digging in. I was really unsure about all the toppings on this hotdog, but oh so yummy. The poppyseed bun was warm, soft, and delicious. Our combo meal came with two Chicago dogs, 1 fry, and 1 soft drink for like $13.00. Cannot beat these prices! The gal at the counter was friendly and welcoming. We went to trolley dogs and the food was not all that great. My husband ordered the Italian beef he asked for sweet peppers instead they gave him jalapeños and asked for the aujuice and instead of giving him a separate container the just dumped it on the Sandwich making the Sandwich soggy. We ordered combo meals mine was a Chicago dog and our fries were small order. For 24 dollars we could have went and bought hot dogs and buns from the store and ate at home. The napkin holder did not work and was sticky. When they discovered they did not have any sweet peppers someone should have came out and asked us if my husband wanted the jalapeño instead of the sweet peppers. The kid behind the counter you could hardly hear talk he was mumbling . We used to go there and enjoy a nice meal , we will not be back. read more

Two stars because their process of running the kitchen is in need of some help as the terrible use of wrongly sized equipment and layout really impact performance and quality of the output. You might a get a dog that's not real warm, likely not hot. Same story with anything being steamed or warmed. Oil tastes a bit over due for a change, and is likely not hit enough so anything fried is oil and not the best tasting drown out by the oil. All of the equipment is either undersized or being used poorly to result in something more akin to a really well done concessions experience at a high school basketball tournament. We've had numerous items on the menu. Always the same story. Barely warm to coolish food, not warm soft steamed buns, oilish fried food, the dog build is "ok", little light on the toppings sometimes because the build process is inconsistent (bad processes) but with cool buns they break apart and become hard to eat... soft steamed bun keep it all together folks... it's not a neat thing to do, it's a requirement to hold it all together. People are really nice, and they try hard, but they work and act like it's their first time every time. With not much effort this could be 5 stars no problem! read more

Trolley Dogs is a nice little place to sit and feed the craving for a well packed Chicago Dog. The clerk took our order and quickly set about filling our needs. The store is in an older building but clean and well lit. The view of the trolley tracks is pleasant. I guess that it has something to do with the name. read more

Is this place under new management/ ownership? Came in today to get some hot dogs for myself and the kids. The girl that helped me was nice and was wearing her mask. A younger girl behind her had her mask down under her chin and letting customers see this, what's the point of even having it on? I also believe she was the one preparing the food. There was no ice for the fountain soda. I was only given 2 sides instead of 3 for the 3 combos I ordered. Worst of all, the food was all cold/ room temp. The fries tasted like they were hours old and the hot dogs felt like they were not sitting in a warmer. No celery salt for the Chicago dogs either. I understand the owner can't be there all of the time but things used to be a lot more fresh. This is not the trolley dogs I have come to love and will not be in a hurry to come back. read more

I used to love this place. LOVE it. I don't know if it is under new management, but they are majorly slacking. Ordered 4 hot dogs and waited over a half hour and only 4 orders were ahead of me. The baffling thing is after that long wait my food was already barely warm - despite waiting for the second my order was ready. Got to swing by this place on a recent trip home to visit family. Always stoked to get hot dogs from a joint that isn't Portillo's (not that Portillo's is bad by any means, because it is not). Overall I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the setting. It feels like a little hole in the wall hot dog joint you might find in the city and drop in to at 2am after having a few too many. The lady behind the counter was friendly enough, and I had my order up in only a few minutes. Everyone was wearing masks when I went, and the booths were all separated with plastic partitions. In Wisconsin, I think that is pretty rare, so I appreciated the effort. I got the cheese dog, the bacon wrapped cheese dog, and the Chicago style dog. In. retrospect I ordered WAY too much cheese and had to eat the Chicago dog the next day. Although I probably would have done that anyway, since I am unsure I could have eaten 3 of any kind of hot dog. The regular cheese dog was fantastic. I really loved the cheese sauce, and the hot dog was super hot and juicy, even after the 7 or so minute drive home. I had to scrape a little bit of the cheese off, but not a huge deal at all. The bacon wrapped, however, I felt was overdone. The bacon was way too crispy for my liking, and the dog was dried out. It made for a really unpleasant texture, and was really the only low-light of the experience. Chicago dog was good, a proper Chicago style hot dog that is REALLY hard to find out here in The Bay. I wish that I had eaten this on the same day, as it was by far my favorite. I will definitely swing by here again, and take it a bit easy on the cheese. I also will avoid anything wrapped in bacon. That normally isn't really my sort of thing anyway. I think that next time I might even try one of the vegetarian or vegan offerings that this joint has. Overall it was a great experience. Great location, good prices, and tasty Chicago style hot dogs. What more could you want!? read more

We ordered food from this place at 5pm this Friday and our food came completely smashed with under cooked fries. We called to complain because of the packaging and a missing drink. Our first call to this place the lady laughed at our complaint, second call made they wanted to blame uber eats and offer to do nothing. So undercooked, smashed food with a missing drink is the Uber drivers fault? We came here before catching the Metra. We had a girl cashier and she was very helpful and friendly. It was $20 for the 4 of us. My youngest added everything under the sun to her dog. I went with the Chicago dog and my hubby had the bacon wrapped dog. All were ok. The fries were fresh. My oldest opted for cheese fries with the hand cut fries. Simply OUTSTANDING! Stopped in craving a Chicago Dog and Tamale Boat and they delivered it to perfection! Even had sesame seed buns which many places no longer offer. BOTH employees were EXTREMELY polite and asked several times if I wanted/needed anything else. WHERE DOES THAT HAPPEN ANY MORE! Hands down, best hot dogs in town. My go to's are the Chicago dog, and the chili cheese. They have a charming little shop that reminds me of the ones back in Chicago. Cramped, filled with smoke, sticky floors and gumball machines. This place is a lot cleaner but the foods still great. read more
