I enjoy the opportunity to eat Chicago style hot dogs very close to my apartment. The prices are reasonable too.

We attended on Sunday so perhaps Saturday was their better day, I'm guessing. We arrived shortly after the 11:00 a.m. opening but a lot of vendors were just getting set up. To buy some ourselves some time, we walked along the harbor and took in the scenery. There were about 25 vendors or so, including Toasty Cheese, and I know there was a stand or two selling deep fried cheese curds. But aside from that, most other vendors sold standard festival fare including hot dogs, brats, funnel cakes, pizza, tacos, Italian Ice, etc. I think the most cheese I saw was in the form of those foam cheese wedge hats. After weighing our options, we decided to eat tacos from a food truck called De La Rosa's Taqueria. My husband ordered some tacos and I chose the walking taco since I'm a huge fan of them. The tacos looked fabulous and hubs enjoyed them, but the walking taco left a lot to be desired. The standard toppings include meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and sour cream. The cheese was a melted nacho cheese, I would have preferred shredded cheese (which is how I make them). It wasn't very flavorful but a large amount of hot sauce helped a bit. It was a $3 snack so I guess I can't complain too much. Husband also ordered an Italian Ice from another vendor and enjoyed it. I don't care for them so I didn't partake. There was also face painting for kids and a few bounce houses. Two music stages provided entertainment. The Kenosha Shrine Club hosted a beer garden along the harbor with a nice view of the water. The Grilled Cheese Invitational was at 4:30 but needless to say, we were out of there by 12:30 so I don't know who ended up winning. The concept is a good one and I'm sure their future events will be better. Maybe our expectations were too high. I will say that the location was great and the vendors were in good spirits despite the uncomfortable weather.

First visit to the Fresh Bar for us. Super cute place on the corner of 55th and 5 Ave downtown…read morenear Harbor Park in Kenosha in an open lot. The truck is basically a converted camper and looks super bright and clean with about 3-4 young women working the truck. Orders are taken at the window and menus are on a little cart next to the window. The toasts we ordered, the twist toast and hi honey were both good. The toast, the home made sour dough was great and had a great crust and crumb. The avocado mash was a bit thin and lacked seasoning but was fresh and bright tasting. The twist toast was better once I hit the truffle oil, but it was drizzled on what seemed like less than a quarter of the serving. $23 for 2 toasts and a drink. I think about 10-15% over priced considering portion and location (no over head of brick and mortar), especially the portions. They were really small portions. Giving this a little more though over the many visits now- the issue is the prep and portions have a lot of variability which crates the feeling the portions and prep are "lite" vs. the previous visit. Nail down prep and portion size and it's perfect then. Adding a little more mash is what they need. Bowls are always spot on. Overall - really really great addition and super nice people.

We had the granola butter toast--one with bananas and one with bananas, strawberries, and blueberries and we shared a cold pressed juice - watermelon, ginger, and lime. The toast was awesome with fresh ingredients with yummy vanilla granola nut butter, fresh fruit, cinnamon, and a drizzle of honey. The juice was refreshing. It is a little bit pricey $25 for two toasts and one juice, but definitely worth it as the ingredients are fresh and healthy and made to order. We will definitely be back again.
