I don't know about you, but I had a terrible perception about CrossFit. I heard that it was "bad…read morefor you" and "dangerous." If you have this same sentiment but also curious to try it, look no further. You are gonna walk into a gem. Coach Jesi and Coach Marcel are the best trainers that I've ever met. I came from a "performance" boutique gym, so I knew nothing about CrossFit and its movements (e.g. power cleans, snatches, etc). They have been nothing but extremely patient and SAFE. As you can tell, these words are in CAPS for a reason. They follow the CrossFit philosophies, and they are big on safety. Every class begins with a warm up, and we do the warm ups together. We aren't set free to warm up ourselves in our own little corners. Every class--it doesn't matter how long you've done CrossFit--Coach Jesi and Coach Marcel will walk you thru each movement. At the end of class, they want you to release tight muscles. For example, if we worked on Deadlifts, we would do recovery work on our quads and hammies. Not only are their coaching techniques stellar, they provide a lot more than your average gym. At 24 Hour Fitness or those "generic gyms," you don't get a sense of community as you do at Fire & Ice. I know some people like to work out and leave. You can too here, but this gym is filled with people who are kind, sweet and supportive in every sense. If you are the last person to finish, you will always hear someone cheering you on and pushing you to finish. If you can't finish, it is never frowned upon because no one wants anyone to be physically hurt. The community that Coach Jesi and Coach Marcel created is amazing! They also create additional events. For example, Coach Jesi creates fun and butt kicking classes that help grow your glutes--Booty Bootcamps for 6-weeks. If you need more work on Olympic Lifting, Coach Marcel has a 6-week cycle on Oly Lifts fo help you get better. These different events always has a specialization and changes! Sometimes there are other one off events like having a Beach Day with all members. They also participate in the CrossFit Open. They also created a fun, competitive "CrossFit Games" inspired event called the "Reindeer Games." If you know your nutrition sucks, there is a certified nutritionist who can help get you to where you want to be. Whenever I had any "food related" questions, Laura was there to help and guide me! If you need some mobility work or just need to release really tight muscles, they offer yoga classes and has a sweet instructor who is incredibly knowledgeable and most importantly certified in the yoga field with hours upon hours of experience. There is so much that they offer at this gym. It's honestly a gold mine! They offer a wealth of information, and they will do what they can to help you get to your weight loss or strengthening goals. I hit a plateau in my weight loss journey, but when I joined their gym, I began to see so many different changes. I was able to sleep better. My body has better endurance. I even broke my plateau. I recently got married, and I was shocked that my wedding dress was loose at my final fitting. It's all thanks to them! I've…read morebeen a member at Hardcore for over a year, and as someone over 40 who prioritizes strength training, this gym has helped me achieve steady progress. I've gained about half a pound of muscle each month- which I feel like is challenging at my age...but Hardcore has certainly helped me achieved this. Because of them, I can now do 8 unassisted pull-ups and bench press over 200lbs. I also participate in a fitness race called Hyrox, and I credit Hardcore for giving me the literal strength to complete that race. Here are just a few great things I'd like to share about Hardcore: Cleanliness: The gym is impeccably clean. The staff maintains the facility well, with plenty of wipes for members. It's clear that hygiene is a top priority here, which I really appreciate. Equipment: The equipment is top-tier- from the smith machines, to solid racks, and cable machines. I love being able to use all of these things within a class. In addition to this, they have so many dumbbells all the way up to 100lbs, weight plates of all sizes, kettlebells, weight bags, resistance bands, TRX, ab rollers, weight balls, foam rollers, standing punching bags, ez bars, standard and olympic bars, hex trap bars, weight sled, and much more. Community & Staff: The atmosphere is fantastic, thanks to a friendly and welcoming staff that makes everyone feel comfortable and supported (especially the owner Durressa!) The community here is warm and motivating, and it's a place where everyone--from beginners to advanced members--feels welcome. Trainers & Personalization: The coaches are outstanding. They're familiar with my injuries and provide modifications or alternatives for certain exercises. And they always push me within my limits and respect me when I say no. Their support has kept me committed and progressing steadily. Class Structure & Variety: The Boot Camp/LIFT classes are well-structured with five stations, each with 2-3 exercises that come with modifications for different levels. I love the variety! There's also a cardio-focused Fight Camp class and a Booty class, so there's always something to fit my goals. Also, classes are schedule as early as 5:15am and as late as 8:30. Programming: The programming is really well thought-out, with split calendars for targeted workouts. For example, within a week there may be a day focused on back and biceps, another for legs and shoulders, and another for chest and triceps. At the time, I was intimidated, overwhelmed, and honestly had no idea what I was doing. I had never really learned how to lift weights properly, perform exercises with correct form, or stick to a consistent workout routine without feeling anxious.
