So yes, had I gone with that company, it would have cost me $2300. Armed with this information, I posted pictures and exactly what the "diagnosis" said and asked for emailed quotes...to be clear I said EMAIL only. I then got no less than 10 phone calls saying "please give us a call so we can talk about your situation. Some called more than once. Lakeland Heating and Cooling (Jason) was nothing like that... $1270 flat rate to replace the water heater. Yes, thats how he replied in his email.. as I requested. He came in.. with the water heater... replaced it... and went on his way. Other companies, that followed directions, also came in higher than $2000. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with Jason and Lakeland! I sent a message via Yelp on a Sunday night and they immediately scheduled our oven troubleshooting for Monday afternoon. Their front office staff is incredibly responsive! George (technician) arrived timely and was very thorough. He explained things to me every step of the way. He is approaching this very methodically - ok, so it's not the igniter, let's look at the next link in the chain... I saw George called out by name in other Yelp reviews, and I understand why he comes so highly recommended! He called the manufacturer to discuss his findings, but the manufacturer tech team wasn't available. He let me know he would be calling them again in the morning and that he would reach out to me with an update. I've had plenty of negative or so-so experiences with other service technicians from other companies. This experience with George / Astera is so positive that I'm posting my review even before the service is completed. Ashley was awesome to work with coordinating the service call and was very impressed with their communication and followup reminder that they will be coming the next day. The service tech; Jeff, called in advance as promised on time and was super nice. Being that we are still being safe with Covid he had a mask and gloves and we wore ours which was appreciated. I have to say ... with in 10 minutes Jeff was telling me good that we called since there was a dead bird in the burner area of the furnace. I was honestly shocked but was very grateful that Jeff was here to get this cleaned up. It could have been a serious problem once the winter was here and the furnace was on. He's on time, cleans up nicely and explains the process and gave me tips on ongoing care for my HVAC units. Reasonable on pricing and accepts CC payment. The blower would cycle on and off frequently and my other unit would not reach temp while running for hours. After 20-30 mins of evaluation, George determined that it was just ac units outside needed a deep clean. And wow what a difference it felt after his cleaning! Super chill air! In/out within an hr. Nothing gets fixed. 2-When the guys came to do the installation of a new AC unit, they asked which one. They had no idea because they could not get into the system to read them. 3-They brought the wrong coolant to put in the unit. Again, they could not get into the system and therefore, were unprepared. None of this is the fault of the workers. 3-When the put in the new thermostat, they left a gaping open area that left drywall exposed. They did not even bother to show anyone. 4-They left no receipt or owner's manual. I had to call to get them. 5-The new owner does not return phone calls or answer emails unless you try 3 times. Then, it appears he barely reads the letter or makes any effort to speak to me about the issue. I first asked for a general manager and there is none. I was a satisfied customer for well over 20 years and I will be finding another company. Mr. Jeremy Lewis does not really care if he retains business.
