I needed an emissions test. I saw a testing site at another muffler shop and pulled in. The place…read morewas filthy and there was nobody at the desk, although there were a bunch of people milling around in the parking lot. Another customer had to yell to them to get their attention. We were told that the machine was acting "fruity" and that there were no other testing facilities within 10 miles, so we would need to return tomorrow and take our chances. That didn't sound right to us. I called Monro. John was super professional and told me to come right down. The place was spotless, the staff was friendly and courteous, and they got me in and out. If I can't trust someone with something as simple as an emissions test, why would I trust them with my vehicle? I am so happy to have discovered Monro. Ironically, when I was getting checked in, my father's information popped up. My father was very particular about who he patronized, but I understand why he would come here. I would definitely return if I needed work done.

Joel was great , filling In for the manager he handled me along with plenty other customers…read moreprofessionally and honestly , the two techs there in the other hand were clueless , bringing they're personal vehicles into the bay all while my car sit and wait for two hours for an oil filter that was sitting on the front desk , once completed every tire was out of spec , under inflated when tpms is a courtesy check , also never rotated tires which was supposed to be done as well . I hope all the best for Joel as I believe based off his customer service alone he will reach great heights , but hes gotta get out of that shop because it's nonsense . other techs sent lady driving away with same issue she came in with only to say oh we have to order this and this so you have to come back . seemed as if they literally had no clue what was going on and after reading many negative reviews I've come to the conclusion that's the case . would love to hear from the manager or somebody higher up to explain why they think it's ok to have there operations running this terribly .

I, and my family, have been customers of Megill's for years for a few simple reasons - impeccable…read morecustomer service at a fair and reasonable price. I could go through a laundry list of experiences over the years, but here is the latest example: My car had a flat tire a week before Christmas. I put on my spare tire and, annoyingly, it too was flat. I called up Megill's and asked if they could send someone to give a little air. Within 20 mins, they were there and filled me up quick - free of charge. I drove around on the spare for a few days, a little nervous, so I called up Megill's and asked what they could do. I explained that I had plans to buy new tires after the holiday season, but that money was really tight at the moment. I have a Buick Regal - the absolute cheapest tire I could purchase was $80 per tire + labor it would have easilly been over $100. I spoke with Mac (the owner) and he said to bring it by, and that he would look for a used tire to put on. I dropped my car off in the afternoon, and with an hour got a call back saying that they had found a spare used tire, and that I could pick it up. Quick, efficient service. When I got there, my bill with labor was $60. $60 - with a tire and labor - I think anywhere else it would have cost about double. And the "used" tire that was put on is loads better than any of the other tires I currently have - it's practically brand new. No other mechanic I know, would work harder to help out a customer given a tight budget. And this is just one example, it has happened time and time again. In my experience, they work mostly on American cars - I've personally bought two buicks and a ford off of them - all were well priced, clean, and ran for years. It's hard to find a good mechanic these days - Mac and his team over at Megill's are A-1, and my first choice in the New Haven area.

My fiancé and I did a lot of research on mechanics in the New Haven area, and we decided on Mike's…read moreAuto Clinic because they were recommended from Yale's student handbook. Also, we called multiple shops and this one was the most reasonable in cost estimates. Out of all the shops we called, John was the most helpful and sincere over the phone. Most importantly, John listened very carefully to our questions, concerns, and ideas. We told John that our car smelled like gasoline and that we needed to find and fix the possible leak. Unlike other shops, John expressed concerned about gasoline-related hazards and our safety. Also, Carlos was nice to us and helped us set an appointment. So after setting an appointment, we brought our car in the morning and met John. John treated us like family from the start. He was very friendly and honest. Right away, he looked under the hood and explained to us what the problem was. He was patient with us and described fully what our issue was and what are options were. We needed to replace the Fuel Regulator. John tried to make it cost-effective for us and gave us a reasonable price. Although they had to order the part from Bridgeport, John got it quickly and worked on our car promptly. Our car issue was resolved and we are extremely happy! For future issues, we now know where to go. We strongly recommend Mike's Auto Clinic.

I recently moved to Hamden and Mike's Auto Clinic was recommended to me when my car wouldn't start…read more Unfortunately, they failed twice to repair it. Mechanics make mistakes; I get that. But failing to give explanations, return my calls, or lock my car overnight (I walked there when I had heard nothing all day and discovered the shop closed and my car unlocked in their parking lot) and then to ask me for cash, is all to add insult to injury. Finally, after having my car towed there for the second time, as arranged the day before, but hearing nothing 24 hours later, I called and was told simply and directly that my car's repair was "not a priority" for them. I understand that this shop has been beloved in Hamden for many years, but unfortunately something or somebody there must have changed. I would never have been disrespected like this at home in Ohio and I am starting to regret moving here.
