This place horrible, the guy is super nasty and has a terrible attitude. He acts like a 3 year old throwing a tantrum for no reason. Either suck it up and fix cars or get a different profession because you are nothing but unprofessional. Don't do us any favors buddy, no one needs your flack. We all have our issues, don't take yours out on everyone else. I will never go here again when there are ppl right down the street that are looking to serve the public with a smile and fair price. I'm afraid he's going to snap on the wrong person one day and pay a hefty price. Not everyone will take your garbage attitude. If i can give a zero star I would. Called twice for an estimate and both times I was told "someone will call you back." Never heard from anyone. Any good place would call right back or just give you the estimate over the phone. I do not recommend dealing with them. If their work is anything like their customer service, they are most likely ripping people off and/or doing a terrible job. read more

If I could have I would have given a negative star!!! The worst used car dealership I have ever dealt with in my 30 years! Started off with $1800 replacing engine gaskets then when car was stalling out said needed new transmission at $4,0000 dollars. You are much better off going to a BMW dealer! read more

I have taken my BMW's to Helmuts for repairs after outrageous bills from the BMW dealerships for minor maintenance and upkeep. This repair garage has treated me like family...picking me up and dropping me off at my home, putting a quart of oil in for free for me once when I was driving by the station and my oil light went on, very flexible with their hours and always get a quick turnaround. I will never go to another dealership again when my warrantee wears out. BEST "mom and Pop" business out there in CT! After having a completely botched car job...THEY ARE A CHOP SHOP AND WILL RIP YOU OFF. They intentionally will damage other parts of your car and claim that you need more work done. Rudy is a very suiting name for the man currently there because he is nothing more than RUDE! I did research on them via the DMV and spoke with the DMV. Do you have a foreign car? If so, let's start by speaking the truth...Foreign cars are EXPENSIVE..to own and repair! I own a Subaru..you know..the "common" northeastern standard all wheel drive car that you can see thousands going up and down the Connecticut highways. I don't own an BMW, Mini Cooper, Mercedes, or Lexus. I did not know my Forester XT model was NOT going to be the typically heard "low maintenance, can go for 200K miles, never give you any problems, Subaru "I love it" experience". This model, along with so many upcoming car models, are starting to have these "direct engines" that REQUIRE expertise that many current mechanics are not up to speed about. Why am I saying all this and not getting to the "business at hand" in my review? I don't know, I guess I wanted to first paint a picture of how FRUSTRATED I have been with my car for the past six month of UNTIL I went to Helmuts! I normally get all my repair work at the Subaru dealership (always told, "its their car, they will know how to fix it the best"...NOT!!!!) I will admit that the dealership is fine for routine maintenance such as oil changes and brakes. But When I started having engine and gas line issues, they could not and did not help me! What they did was rip me off by misdiagnosing the car over and over again. They had NO CLUE how to fix the car but would not admit to that! The truth is, I found Helmuts in desperation to get my car fix! So glad I did!!! The team not only CORRECTLY diagnosed the issues the first time (needed a walnut blast for the direct engine, had to REDO the spark plugs that Subaru dealership put on wrong!) but their prices are in line (actually cheaper) with everyone I called for estimates. Rudy and his team are AWESOME. They are knowledgable and will actually show you "evidence", such as showing me a bowl full of crud they had taken of my engine in the walnut bast or the actually part they replaced when I needed to get my wheel fixed. They are also great at explaining to you what they did to the car. Their prices are GREAT. I know what I have spend at the dealership for the "convenience" and other places I have called for car work. For their level of expertise, they are in line with everyone else!! The fact is.. it is a FOREIGN car body shop...you know, exotic/luxury cars that cost money to own and fix! lol!! If you make an appointment, you can even get a loaner car for the day while they are working on your car. I FOUND MY NEW AUTO MECHANIC!! I live about 35 minutes away, but I don't care!! I won't be taking my car anywhere else!!! Now if you are the customer who is looking for the fancy big auto mechanic building that gives you the fancy loaner cars...yeah, no, this is not for you. If you want a auto mechanic that is friendly, FAIR IN PRICES, can diagnosed CORRECTLY the first time, AND get your car back up and running... well..then I strongly suggest to go and give them a try! I wish I could say that I drove a BMW or any other luxury car, but Forester XT is what I have for now. But at least I finally found a great place to take care of any (and seems to be many... how sad is that!) issues that may arise with driving my non-luxury car! read more

When I bought my Mercedes from the previous owner, one of the best things he did for me was recommend Helmut's for service. The staff is more than friendly and professional; they are honest, reliable and go the extra mile to take care of you and your car. It's like having an uncle in the business. Never got free service or am connected in any way to this shop. In fact the owner and whoever else worked on my car when it was there stole parts from my car. The only reason I brought mine here is because the former owner, Bob is excellent at working on BMW's. Unfortunately he retired. The current guy who somehow runs the place still under bob's biz name Doesn't even know how to use a programming engine code computer properly. I brought my car here with no electronic problems whatsoever and just needed an oil change. He changed the oil and I left to find it had the wrong battery for my model car and another missing part costing over $1000. If you own a FOREIGN CAR- BMW, Audi or any car requiring a mechanic- I GUARANTEE YOU ANYWHERE ELSE is BETTER than here. read more

I needed a part on my car replaced. Not even an engine part. Bobby was rude and annoyed that I had checked with the dealer and 1 other garage on a price . He basically told me have it done somewhere else, he was obviously offended. What an egotistical jerk. He is close to me and I would have given him some expensive repairs but he blew it with his lousy attitude. Obviously he doesn't care about the customer or keeping business coming his way . I will never recommend him to anyone . Midas in Stratford is fair and friendly without the attitude. He acted like I was doing him a favor by using him for my repair. The worst part is it was a quick repair and he could have done it easily and make a quick buck. Bad attitude and now I don't trust him after reading the previous review. He's not the only game in town, as s matter of fact there are many many mechanics close by me in Stratford. Get a clue Bobby, your a nasty rude person in my opinion. read more
