I moved to West Hartford 25 years ago and Triple Star was conveniently close for pickup so that's where I began getting my Chinese food fix. I'm a disabled senior so I appreciate that their delivery service is fast and the food arrives nice and hot. If that isn't enough; the portions are generous enough for the biggest appetite; I get more than one meal from an order. They even give me extra fortune cookies when I ask. I've just come home after long hospitalization and not up to cooking yet so I've been ordering; living on, my own favorite combo of items. I'm so satisfied with Triple Star I've never tried any other place. read more

Cashew chicken lunch box was great as a take-out, and the service staff are friendly.

I had delivery 04/06/2025 and was disappointed. Everything tasted the same, veggies in moo shu were limited to bamboo shoots, onion and carrots. Hot & Sour soup was under-seasoned and suffered a lack of wood ear fungi Lily buds and egg. My family orders food there but it's predictable and basic. read more

The food was near the worst I've ever had. Service was good the staff was friendly. My son couldn't finish his wanton soup and lunch then said his stomach didn't feel well and gave it back up in the dirty bathroom. Ambiance is like eating in the storeroom with restaurant supplies piled into some of the booths. read more

I decided to stop by for lunch and was pretty impressed by the lunch combo that I had. Spare ribs with Pork Fried Rice with Wonton Soup; a typical choice by many including myself. I had called ahead as Jumbo Buffet in Bloomfield wasn't ready with their lunch buffet and I had to get to a late start to work. It was pretty painless to grab my to go order for a little less than $10. The portion wasn't that bad with the fried rice resembling fried rice but lacking pork that I usually find in my pork fried rice. Mostly peas and rice, missing carrots and onion. I was glad that there was more than one or two Wonton that I've seen other places have. Was pretty good all things considered with the wonton soup. The spare ribs weren't that greasy either which was good. I felt full from half the meal and saved the other portion for dinner. All in all, felt good about my order. I know that some places do an egg roll and that was an option along with subbing the wonton soup for egg drop soup. Maybe for my next meal since I work nearby. read more

When I walk into a small take-out place for take-out, I have clear expectations. I want a decent container of food with a decent sized portion at a decent price. Triple Star delivered on all three counts. We were heading home from Hartford and picked up dinner on the way. We ordered two combination dinners - chicken and shrimp, and chicken and broccoli. They ran around $8 each and included a generous portion of fried rice and an egg roll. We also had a hot and sour soup ($1.95) and a won ton soup ($1.75). Here's my analysis of what I had. The soup was pretty good -chock full of lots of sliced tofu in a flavorful broth. The eggroll was forgettable, well maybe memorable if you really like bland shredded cabbage. The fried rice was average in taste, but it was a pretty generous portion. The chicken and shrimp was very good, lots of tasty chicken chunks, good shrimp, carrots, water chestnuts and veggies in an excellent sauce. The guy taking the order was really funny and had had a geat personality. For what I expected, it delivered perfectly. An "A-OK" no matter how you look at it. read more

I oftentimes get food to-go from here, and it's a good quick option. Their interior is similar to a lot take out Chinese restaurants, not ideal for dining in. They don't get that heavy greasy smell some Chinese restaurants have, which is a big bonus. The food is pretty good and when I am in West Hartford I will eat here when I am too lazy to make anything. I like the black bean shrimp, or the chicken and eggplant. Highly recommend, and lunch special is a p good deal as well. read more

Best egg rolls and shrimp egg rolls - fried rice and the general Tao's chicken good too.

Just good Chinese take out. Normally order the chicken and broccoli or sweet and sour chicken with egg rolls. Service is quick as I'm usually in and out within 10 minutes of placing the order. read more

My go-to Chinese spot. Their pork dumplings are...correct. They are the closest thing to the ones I was used to in NYC. The only of their kind I have found in the area. read more

So, is it the worst Chinese food I've had? No. But it's not very good either. It's a take-out place, so judging it by its interior is like judging a painting by its frame. That sort of misses the point. The people who work here all seem relatively young and friendly (perhaps overly so -- you're serving me, not trying to be my buddy). But that doesn't mean you can overlook the food. On the plus side, the hot & sour soup is fairly standard and not altogether unpleasant. It wasn't overly peppery as some are prone to do. A little too heavy on huge chunks of tofu too. But the shredded beef szechuan style was more like a Pepper Steak. Lots of peppers and onions with a few pieces of beef thrown in. Flavorless sauce. Fried rice doesn't help things and the egg roll is forgettable. Overall, there are simply better places to eat nearby. Which is probably why I never ate here in the last ten years and probably why I won't again. They could use some lessons from Black Bamboo. read more

This is no "Triple Star" Restaurant. One star at best. This restaurant goes up on their prices every couple months! The food is not even that good anymore. I just received a new menu and the prices have gone up $2.00 per item. It is outrageous! You are better off going to Green Tea in Farmington, Wang Palace in Wethersfield or Lotus Garden in Bristol. These are all worth the drive, the food is delicious, they offer coupons and the prices are much more reasonable. read more

Triple Star is in the Big Y Plaza - Bishop's Corner. The restaurant, is a take out restaurant, with room to seat 20 people. I was very surprised to discover the restaurant in disarray. There were supplies piled in the seating areas, and on the seating. One table left littered with the remains of a meal. There were many signs haphazardly taped up. There were signs advertising Vietnamese Type Beef Soup - Pho $6.95. I applaud them for latching onto this trend, however, "Why not master at one thing at a time?" The floor was not clean. Procedurally they don't seem organized. I was overcharged for my meal, I observed the cashier overcharge another individual. This is VERY surprising. I believe this was happening in error because the person running the cash register, while polite and well spoken, seemed confused about how to use the register. These kinds of mishaps do not instill confidence. The rent here in not inexpensive, the space is large, a restaurant like this could do well here, if it were run well. The food was OK. I included a picture and a few pictures of the restaurant. The two stars are because the food that I had was OK. General Tso's Chicken. I cannot help but think there may be an absentee owner. No one is really taking an interest in this place. Too bad.. read more

Ever since Cheng Du closed, we've been looking for decent Chinese food of the quality Cheng Du had. We tried Butterfly...nope. We tried Black Bamboo...nope. Tonight, because it's very close by, we decided to give Triple Star a try. I wish we hadn't. The shrimp toastx2 was burnt and dripping in grease. The crab Rangoon was leaden and flavorless. The egg rolls just weren't good. The one entree: General Tso's Chicken was okay but there wasn't much flavor. $38.00(takeout) and we were totally disappointed. read more

It's close to 7pm, you're just about to leave the office, knowing that there are a few things still left undone - but hey, you got to live your life a little bit right? And the text comes in, always a text, never a phone call, why is that? "What are we doing for dinner?" After chasing the pig all day, trying to bring home the bacon, it's natural for your thoughts to turn to pork at the dinner hour. Lucky for you, you live in a place where there are loads of options to get that pork. Triple Star in Bishop's Corner is one such of those options. It represents both the best and the worst of the genre. On the downside, it is literally in a strip mall, it's filthy in there, and like all the other Chinese options around here, it's surprisingly expensive! On the plus side, they are close, they are easy, it is always 15 minutes and only 15 minutes, parking is not an issue, and boy are they friendly! How's the food you ask? Who cares? OK you care. It's Chinese. It's fine. It's not great. It's not terrible. Did I mention it's convenient? It's already past 7, if you call now it'll be ready by the time you get there, you have zero other ideas, so call from the car already and kvit yer kvetching! Triple Star. read more

Our go-to place for takeout Chinese. We love the lo-mein, sweet and sour chicken, Singapore chow mein fun, crab Rangoon and dumplings. Always very quick with the orders and happy with our food. read more

What do I think of triple star? Here is a hint- I live right across the street and if I want Chinese food I hop in the car and drive over to Black Bamboo. Enough said. Dirty, unappealing, at best mediocre food. read more

We've been to a lot of Chinese takeouts and sit-ins in various parts of central to northern Connecticut and to be honest they aren't that different from each other - just a matter of price and quality. First and foremost, Triple Star is a takeout place, I wouldn't consider a good place to sit-in even though they have a lot of booths. I rarely seen anyone sit-in. I've only done it once with my husband several years ago and I wouldn't say it was a great experience. I have to say the food is pretty good. We've been to some more pricier places and we don't think they can match up. The food is almost like home cooking - nothing fancy, lots of unhealthy sauces but very good. I am not sure what people expect out of a takeout but what they lack in the restaurant environment, they make up in the food. I've been to Triple Star for several years now and am still going! read more

This review is based on limited delivery experience. Employees are very nice! Delivery is always way faster than estimated. Very affordable from my experiences at other similar restaurants because their serving sizes are so large. My favorites are steamed dumplings and hot n sour soup. Definitely a fan! read more

I just tried this place for the first time and I am not sure that I will go back. The chicken with mixed vegetables was OK.. the dumplings were AWFUL!!!!! A thick piece of dough stuffed with some veggies, the dough was not cooked properly and they just looked horrible, taste was on par with looks. read more

Not the best but I had to get something quick on my break. Got a chicken w/ broccoli lunch special which came with a wonton soup. I but into the wonton and there was a hair in it. Not on it or around it, but within the meat itself. I called and complained. They were very apologetic but I'll probably not going there again. Not even sure if I'd go if I were dying...... read more

I wish I had read the previous review before giving this place a try. The floor was extremely slippery, and within one minute of ordering, my wife slipped and fell on the way to a table. There were supplies on a couple of the booths and the tables were sticky. We decided to change our order "to go" rather than stay. The food tasted OK, but one of our family got sick. This place will never survive with this type of experience. We will certainly never return! And, I did not receive an itemized receipt, and believe we too were overcharged. They are a mess. read more

Delicious food. Mostly takeout place, not fancy by any stretch of the imagination but that's not needed. Classic American Chinese food done right. read more

Wow. The lomein was spoiled. As soon as I opened the box I can smell the grossness. The chicken and broccoli was ok but no way I'm going back there ever again read more

I ordered the shrimp and vegetable dinner combo, which came with an eggroll and pork fried rice. My dinner was loaded with big, succulent shrimp. The crab rangoons were large and nicely stuffed. I was satisfied. Triple Star is a take out place. So I don't expect gourmet food. I feel the food was average Chinese food. The staff that work there have always been extremely pleasant and polite. So, when I am looking for a quick delivery...Triple Star is convenient. I think there is room for improvement in some of the sauces. An average place with average food is sometimes OK. read more

Food is good and reasonably priced. They have never made a mistake on my orders which is rare for these types of places. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. read more

A neighbor reccomended it so we gave it a try. Dirtiest Chinese restaurant i have EVER been in. Supplies fill two tables, plant with taped Chinese symbols on it, ragged fake Xmas tree still up (late Jan), floors, cove moulding, windows, door and walls filthy. Hot and Sour soup smelled bad and had no taste so I made a sandwich while wife tried to have the soup. She ended up throwing it out as well as egg rolls. Agree that it must be an absentee owner. read more

We have ordered from Triple Star many times and the food has always been fine. Not great, but fine. Last night it was completely inedible. The beef was slimy and gross. I was scared to eat it . The sauce was completely tasteless. The dumplings had almost no filling inside. We won't be ordering from here again. We suggest you don't waste your money either. read more

They delivered really fast to Bloomfield and graciously brought it all the way to the 3rd floor. And the food was great (also just really in the mood for chinese food)! I got general tso and boyfriend got orange chicken and lo mein. Will order again! read more

This is the worst Chinese restaurant I've tried since moving to West Hartford. The person taking my order behaved as if she didn't need my busy when I asked for extra bean sprouts in my fried rice. I asked if the Orange chicken was spicy, she stated yes but when I got my order home, it not only wasn't spicy but lacked favor as well. Poor service and food! Never again. read more

I really like their chicken Lo Mein and crab Rangoon. I don't have the most sophisticated pallet, but when you crave these two thing, nothing is more disappointing when your order is gross, cold, or overpriced. The chicken is small and not the size of ears! I will continue to order from them as an indulgent treat! read more

I and my friends had a lunch over there. Foods are good and people are nice. I am surprised they serve vegan food as well.

To quote Judge Marilyn Milian, "stick a fork in me. I'M DONE" -- with Triple Star, that is. I will never order food from them again. Today was the second time my daughter and I tried to order General Tso's Vegan Chicken, and came home to find out it was real chicken. The first time it happened, a few months ago, we drove back and had it corrected. Tonight I just placed an angry phone call, and the young guy on the phone proceeded to insist that it was vegan chicken -- WITHOUT EVEN SEEING OUR FOOD. I just told him I was pissed and was DONE and hung up. Why have vegan chicken on your menu when everybody working in the restaurant doesn't even seem to know what it is?? When I placed our order, I made sure the woman repeated back our order. When my daughter picked it up, she also, once again, said vegan chicken, and the woman said yes... I should not have to gnaw on my food to figure out whether it's meat or not. I guess it's Tasty or Black Bamboo from now on. read more
