I used to go to the original Triona's near West Village, but my friend loves the place and convinced us to go to the new 3rd ave location. For one thing, it's a lot bigger. Yes, it's on 3rd avenue, but it's not nearly as douchey as it could be. Still a little douchey (it's a sports bar after all), but I had a good time. Stopped in here for a pit stop on the way to Union Square farmer's market (hey, walking 60 blocks requires a beer). We were greeted with an excellent rugby match on tv, friendly patrons and staff, and we munched on some chips and guacamole (thick, sour cream-forward, probably from a package, but giant portion and not bad). While the beer selection was slightly below average and corporate, the pub was super clean and inviting. Can't complain when all I was looking for was A/C, beer, and sports. Came here for trivia on Tuesday's and it was fun. The host was good but we didn't like the food very much. It was really salty and we felt like the service was really aggressive. Every 2 min someone would come up to our table and ask us if there was anything we wanted. We eventually found a different spot to do trivia. Not a bad sports bar though. read more

I've been here a few times in the last year, and recently went to the original Triona's on Sullivan Street. Both locations hit the sweet spot of being clean without being stuffy, homey without being dirty or dive-y,and having sports without being rowdy. I really like how they redid the place because Still was a total dump and a half. The thought of even drinking anything there skeeved me out. Standard sports bar, which the area is semi-lacking - we only have Blind Pig, SideBAR and The Ainsworth.. all of which I think Triona's is better than. Not a bad spot on 3rd Ave - certainly an older crowd than you typically find in the neighborhood, so that was refreshing. They have loads of drinks specials that vary daily and the bartenders are friendly. Seems like a good place to watch a ball game. read more

The jumbo chicken wings are indeed on the larger size. Spicy bourbon is good. This is a sports watching bar w good service. This is the type of place u come for happy hour or to cheer on a particular game. The fish and chips were meh....the breaded portion of the fish was almost like fried dough or funnel cake. It felt apart from the fish portion which was a nay buuuuut I actually liked that breaded portion on its own and dipped it on the tartar sauce. Good sports bar. Decent selection of beers on tap. Average bar food but the bartenders are friendly and it's reasonably priced. Most of the patrons are easy going. Have been here three times and it's been a consistent good experience. Particularly reliable for European soccer on the weekends, NFL football, and playoffs for all sports. Each TV has a different feed, so you don't have to watch the same game as everyone else if you don't want to. Just ask the bartender to change the channel and they're happy to do so. read more

Pretty sad this NY bar was only showing the Blackhawks hockey game refused to turn the nets game. If you're so into Chicago, go back. Went to Trionas on Sunday afternoon based on my location. Turned out to be a very nice sports bar. A Chicago sports bar specifically. It was not busy at all at 1:00, but there was no football on, so makes sense. From behind the bar. Gabby was a fantastic bartender. Very friendly, very attentive. Humored all of my tourist conversation. She was also willing to share her personal recommendations. I only had the mozzarella sticks for lunch. Best sports bar/pub in the city! Excellent food- more of a gourmet pub food menu... Pork sliders are addicting... Good selection of taps and the best staff you could imagine.. Everyone chips in and even the cooks/bussers are out and about and really friendly.. The only complaint is that they need to invest in a better sound system for games, but everything else is fantastic. Some people have made comments about Chicago teams always being on... A sports bar that doesn't play the sound on any games? You found it here. The NBA all star game was on but they refused to put the sound on because a group said "it clashed with their hockey game." They don't even play the hockey game sound, instead choosing to play top 100 pop music at an aggravating level. I'm talking Katy Perry singing in your ear. Food was decent though significantly overpriced. I got the Mac and cheese which was served in a healthy portion. It was okay but the bacon in it was a little undercooked. Service was fine but I'm pretty low maintenance when I'm watching sports. Lots of TVs with easy viewing from anywhere. Spacious and not crowded. The biggest issue we ran into was cashing out. The bartender decided to put everything on one check without asking. Then when we asked to split it, it took 15 minutes for her to refund our cards and rerun them. They finally bring the new checks out and they are flipped. My friend's tab charged to my card and mine to his. We tell them and they insist it's correct. Finally they decide to fix it and it takes another 15 minutes. By the time it's all said and done we are there 40 mins past the time we wanted to cash out. Ridiculous. Awesome spot - the food here is delicious, especially for a sports bar. My favorite menu item is the chili - so good and served with a few tortilla chips. Perfect for a fall Sunday while watching football. The fried pickles, wings, and nachos are also worth ordering as are the Chicago hotdogs. There is a dearth of good sports bars in Manhattan, and this is a damn good sports bar in Manhattan. Even if you're not a Chicago fan (although I imagine it would help). Large, well positioned flat-screen TVs all over the bar, and they play sound during big games. Pretty good beer selection (although the good beer:number of taps ratio could be improved - they have a lot of taps, but most are devoted to swill), good bar food, hardworking/friendly bartenders give very good service. (We found table service very spotty, so a trip to the bar generally worked better). Be a good patron and expect the occasional buy-back. read more

Loved this place! We came here to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs 2015 winning game between the Blackhawks and Lightnings and was so amazed that so many Chicago fans came here to watch the game!
