I moved out of state. The water in the new place damaged my hair and broke it off to pretty much…read morenothing. I was ready to shave it all off and start over. I came to Raleigh to visit my family for Christmas wearing the worst wig on God's green Earth. My mother made me feel self conscious about my wig, but I was even more self conscious about my hair. So, I had resolved to go to the hair school to have them chop my hair off- it's Christmas Eve. DUUHH they're closed. So at 9am on Christmas Eve I hit yelp and try to find an affordable ethnic hair cut. Miss Cynthia answered my call. I said "do you take walkins or do I need to make an appointment?" She said "well what time were you wanting to walk in?" I said "Now." She sounded surprised, but told me to come on down. I explained to her my plight; she cut my hair, washed it and I'm currently sitting under a dryer. Miss Cynthia is such a sweet lady and while I was talking to her, I mentioned my husband is in the army and that's why we relocated - so, she gave me a little bit of a discount and told me to thank my husband for his service. Now, I'm not the person who goes around looking for military discounts- frankly, I don't even like to use coupons, but I thought that was sweet. $50 for cut, wash and style isn't too bad at all!! Like I said, I'm under the dryer right now, so I haven't seen my hair, but I believe I'm going to love it about as much as anyone can love their first super short hair cut/style. It was damaged to the max, but felt really good even after just the wash. So, I'm optimistic. I highly recommend this place and Miss Cynthia. Will update the review if I turn out to be wrong.

LOVE IT! I have…read morefinally found the hair salon I've been looking for! I'm a huge fan and will be a client for as long as Jay will have me! To all of you out there with curly hair who are so sick of stylists not having a clue what to do for you, stop searching and call this place. I got highlights and a cut this past weekend and love how everything turned out. The color is amazing and is exactly what I wanted. Jay knew right from the beginning the type of look I was trying to describe and got it just right. It was like a "Say No More, I've Got This" vibe from him that put me at ease, like he'd been doing my hair for years! And as for the cut, he has a certain way of cutting these unique layers for curly hair that make it look wonderful! It has been incredibly easy to style. Beyond the hair, all the small things that also make a huge difference were just as appealing! Heath handles everything at the front, and he was amazingly helpful in setting up the appointment, making sure things were fine the day of, and scheduling my next appointment. When you arrive, they'll offer coffee, wine, whatever, and of course, great music is playing the whole time. The salon itself is also super cute and they have fabulous artwork throughout, making it totally adorable. Just a note that due to no fault of their own on the particular day I was there, the hot water supply for the building was well, not hot at all! Jay, Heath, and Irene (the other stylist there) all took the time to actually heat cold water up just for my rinse and shampoo so I wouldn't have to deal with cold water. Talk about going above and beyond! They didn't have to, but they did. They're all fabulous, and I can't say enough wonderful things. I wish them so much success there! I've already told friends and co-workers this is the next salon for them, no question, and I can't wait for my next appointment!
