From late 2020 through April 2024, my son attended HopeBridge. The on-site staff who worked directly with him were wonderful--we are truly grateful for their compassion and support. Unfortunately, that positive experience was overshadowed by serious issues with HopeBridge's billing department. Throughout his time there, we maintained two active insurance policies solely to cover the cost of his therapy. Yet, six months after services ended, we were contacted by HopeBridge claiming we owed a substantial balance. When I asked for documentation, I was met with months of delays, vague responses, and inconsistent information. It took nearly a full year after we stopped services to receive a copy of our billing ledger--and when I finally did, it was riddled with errors and contradictions. When I asked for clarification, the explanations I received directly contradicted the charges they had assessed. The deeper I look into this, the more it feels like something is seriously wrong--possibly even fraudulent. After speaking with other families, I no longer believe this is an isolated case. I'm sharing our experience in hopes of protecting other families from going through the same thing. Parents, please be cautious. I cannot in good faith recommend HopeBridge due to their billing practices.

I would strongly caution families before trusting Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of…read moreHomewood with the care of a loved one who requires full assistance and supervision. My mother, is completely immobile and fully dependent on staff for her safety, hygiene, and daily care needs. During her stay, staff repeatedly failed to provide adequate hygiene care and failed to maintain basic patient safety precautions. Most alarming, my mother fell out of her bed while under the facility's supervision. At the time of the incident, the bed rails were down, the bed alarm was turned off, and the bed appeared improperly adjusted or overinflated. Despite her being a known high fall-risk patient, appropriate safety measures were not in place. This was not a minor oversight -- this was a serious failure in patient care and supervision involving a vulnerable patient who could not protect herself. Families place trust in rehabilitation facilities to provide safe, attentive, and dignified care. Unfortunately, our experience raised serious concerns about staffing attentiveness, patient monitoring, and overall accountability. We have formally requested an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her care and fall. I hope this review encourages the facility to improve its standards and helps other families make informed decisions when choosing care for their loved ones.

Others were not only rude (they didn't even introduce themselves or greet me when they came into the room). At times, I felt like a burden and hesitated to ask for help. At one point I called because it was time for my pain medicine and they told me my nurse was at lunch. It took 45 minutes of suffering to finally get relief. Several times I needed help to get to the bathroom and had to wait. One nurse told me I should just wet the bed if I couldn't wait. The only really positive thing I could say was that the PT and OT were excellent. I finally begged the doctor to let me go home early since I was not able to sleep in the uncomfortable bed, constant talking in the hall and some of the food was awful. They did offer alternatives to the regular meal and gave my sandwiches or a burger that wasn't bad. Overall it was a miserable experience and I would never recommend it..
