My son was invited to Samford for a football camp. Their football stadium and facilities are really nice. They have done upgrades to the football stadium area over the last few years. If my son were to attend the school, I would definitely be in the crowd supporting. read more

Samford University is a beautiful place! I have attended event after event here , and have always enjoyed myself. Recently I was on this beautiful campus for a photoshoot. This campus offers many picturesque views that are sure to capture the perfect shot! If you are in need of a location for a photoshoot , I highly recommend here. There are so many beautiful buildings and the grounds are extremely well kept. Covid restrictions are advertised all on campus, so this was certainly good to see. read more

So I am a little biased as an alumni (graduating class none your business because I am old) but I love Samford. Last Sunday I was on campus at Brock Hall for my daughters piano recital. The facilities all over campus are well kept and beautiful. The staff and teachers are always helpful if you need anything. Brock Hall is beautiful with the high ceilings and grand piano on center stage. Samford has many different areas to study. While many study liberal arts such as music, I graduated with my doctorate of pharmacy degree. Samford also hosts many events so come visit when you can. read more

They had two large events booked at the same time this weekend without any directional signs posted, no one available to direct thousands of people pouring into campus, and no B'ham PD to direct the outrageous traffic jam on Lakeshore Avenue going both directions. I've had the pleasure of studying at their law library quite a few times and I have to say it has been a pleasure. It is clean, quiet, and conveniently shares many tables to sit at. They have little study cubicles, many tables and chairs with study lights on top, and some couches here and there. You can make copies (obviously small cost) and do scanning as you wish. There is ample parking and security drives around on a regular basis. The front desk is very helpful if you have any questions. I myself did not go to Samford but my school is affiliated with their school in a way where I am able to study in their library. They have great hours as well if you are an early bird or a night owl! read more

This is a review of the handling of the graduation ceremony held 5/3/2019. This school did graduation right! There was adequate parking on campus but there weren't many, if any signs telling people where to go. The Pete Hanna Center on campus is where the ceremony was held. This area is well lit, spacious, handicap accessible, has plenty of seating area, was at a comfortable temperature and clean. The ceremony started on time! They gave time for 4 speakers and the speakers were succinct in their messages. Then we got to the part everyone was waiting for.....HERE COMES THE GRADUATES. Of course, the officiant asked for everyone to keep their applause short so everyone's name and accolades could be heard and the crowd did just that. I could tell this ceremony was well thought out because it flowed seamlessly and was to the point. Great job Samford! read more

We toured Samford today and it is a beautiful school. My 5 star review stems from what happened AFTER our tour.....I came out to a flat tire on my car. Within 2 minutes of my discovery, Bill showed up out-of-the-blue. I learned that Bill is one of the maintenance workers on campus. After a quick phone call, his coworker Chris showed up with a jack. These two gentlemen not only provided my daughter and I with quite a few laughs but they had my tire changed in no time! I tell this story to show you the kindness and character exhibited by individuals that work at this school. I did not call for help and I did not ask Bill and Chris to change my tire. They showed up because they saw I was having trouble and they helped because they are good people. I think this says A LOT about Samford. If Samford wasn't a wonderful place, I don't think wonderful people would choose to work there. read more

Visited the first home basketball game with some friends. We did have a very long walk so consider getting there early or being dropped off. However, Beautiful campus with very nice facilities for the fans. The basketball gym was very impressive. The media information presented easily visible on the screens, unfortunately the concession stand selection was boring but the service was very friendly. Seating was actually very comfortable and I'm not sure there was a bad seat in the house even at the higher elevations. Parking to get to the arena is probably a different story but overall I enjoyed my visit to Samford's arena as well as campus. Go by enjoy a game! read more

I love samford... What an ideal little community! Perfect georgian architecture, green manicured campus, belltowers and marble stairs in the library. Everybody is just so nice! Its definitely a bastion of conservative-ness, so if you think differently, you will risk an attempted "witnessing" experience. Its very white, suburban, and gentrified, but there are attempts to change that. Plus, as a college student, its nice to find something to push away from to find your own identity. Academically, the lower level courses aren't too challenging, save the amazing english/philosophy/history classes I got to take for core credit/electives. The upperclass courses were challenging, but the teachers always approachable and the grades achievable with appropriate effort. I'm talking of my own experience, primarily in Biology/Chemistry/Physics classes. The religion department at this conservative baptist school is slightly liberal (only by Alabama standards), but in a wonderful way that opens many fundamentalist minds. I met my husband and many friends here, and I loved it. :) read more

This place is obviously imperfect with imperfect people, but it is full of high quality people that will change your life for the better if you are open to it. Most students that come here are hardworking, driven people that expect the best from themselves and the world. The campus dining choices are delicious, but most students get tired of it after eating it all the time for the first year. Most of the faculty and staff are driven and motivated to be the best, as well. You will find weaknesses, but all-in-all it is a solid community that cultivates great education for the betterment of the world. Most students come and establish quality friendships that last a lifetime since the majority of students only know a handful of people coming in. One can say the campus is homogenous, but you get people from all the around the country and world to get to know and share life with. The athletics are not amazing, but entertaining enough. Most people still come in and cheer on the major state school they have been loyal to since they were babies. Step Sing is by far the single biggest and most important alumni draw each year in the beginning of February. It is super safe and easy to get around. Oh yeah, and the campus is beautiful; especially with Christmas decorations. read more

Today I got in my car after class to head to work, when I realized that my battery in my car was dead. I was happy to find on the Samford website that campus safety offers car services like jumping off and unlocking cars. I called campus safety, and there was someone to help me in a matter of minutes. I made it to work on time and was happy to see that my car was running safely. Thank you Samford for offering these services. read more

I would consider Samford as one of my top schools to go to in the future. I came to Samford for a Summer program and it was really worth it. So many cool things to do while I was there. But the negative side is that there is a ton of walking. Walking from the dorms to the Cafeteria (which was in the gym at the time since it's being renovated)seemed like a mile walk. But I got used to it over the course of the week. Also there isn't as much diversity as I hoped there would've been. Since they had like an orientation thing while I was there it was like all Caucasians. For me personally being black I wouldn't feel that comfortable since I'm used to being surrounded by people of my race. But since it is a private university and really expensive, the only way I could afford it is if I got a scholarship so right now it's out of he question... Overall I really liked it while I was there. Oh and the dorm rooms aren't really that great while I was there because I had to kill some bugs in the room. And the counselors were a little bit too nice if that's a thing. Ok that's all read more
