These apartments are older and have their drawbacks, but my experience renting from Trinity definitely makes up for any negatives. I rented a duplex unit here for 2 years. We loved the older charm of the unit (hardwoods, high ceilings, huge windows), and the kitchen was nicely updated. Some of the drawbacks were the cost of utilities because the home wasn't well insulated, and the occasional maintenance issue, but these are just old property issues and not Trinity specific. We were always super impressed with their responsiveness to any maintenance issues. This is a real stand out to us in terms of positives, and made a great impression. Also, they are incredibly fair with returning the security deposit, which you don't see very often! The people working in the office are all very kind and helpful. We wholeheartedly recommend these apartments to anyone looking for an attentive landlord, as long as your okay with dealing with the charms of older properties. read more

#123/2016 Another couple and I showed up to the Trinity offices and owner Guy Solie took us out to view his available units. Once inside the Murchison apartments, the other couple pushed me aside and practically bowled me over to be first in the door, pounding Guy with questions then informing him they "probably" wanted the place but had "one more place to see and they'd be back soon" and abruptly left. Guy looked at me with a friendly smile and said, "Can I give you a quick tour?" I loved the place instantly: the big windows, spacious living area and hardwood throughout. The kitchen was as small as a postage stamp (recent photos show they expanded and remodeled it) and said I was ready to sign. He smiled and said, "I'm so glad you do. Those other folks weren't very polite; you seem like you'd be a very nice tenant." Guy was a terrific landlord and true to Trinity's website, the apartments were a great value, especially since they were close proximity to Duke University. I rented two apartments from Trinity at the Murchison Apartments on Demerious Street and Georgetown Apartments, my favorite being Georgetown because it had a large eat-in kitchen and pantry and two spacious bedrooms upstairs. (Murchison was a little quirkier and smaller, it was still a cute place. It had a fantastic storage area under the stairs where I stashed Christmas decorations and luggage). Both apartments were townhouses and very cozy with central air conditioning, a *must for those sweltering summers in the South. Both apartments were very well maintained by Trinity. After Guy had bought the Georgetown apartments he asked if we'd like to take a look. It was literally dollars more a month with an extra bedroom and extra 1/4 bath. He even let me choose the carpeting and linoleum from (4) samples and remodeled it fully before we moved in. If I ever moved back to the Triangle area, I'd call Guy for help navigating the real estate market since he is a very savvy real estate investor and/or rent from him again. All these years later, I still have the move/out form with a personal note from Guy that reads, "Thanks for leaving the place in such super shape!" All these years later, fond memories from a fabulous landlord. If you're looking for an apartment in Durham or Raleigh, start with Trinity Apartments. read more

Update: trinity properties gave me back all of my security deposit minus the cost to replace the blinds my dogs ruined and my final water bill. I think that is awesome and really appreciated them not being nit picky. My experience here overall has been great. I have lived at Poplar West for the past two years. Here's what I like: -friendly management: everyone from the office to the Maintenance people have been friendly and helpful. I have two dogs and they damaged some parts of the house and they fixed it at no cost. They happily replace or repair anything that needs it and I've never felt uncomfortable With the men there. Yes they are Hispanic and some people would call them sketchy but that's ignorant. They're the nicest people I've interacted with and eager to help with the whatever I need. -location: close to dukes west campus -rent: reasonable and cheaper than many other places -pets: no breed restrictions for dogs, nice little place with trees to walk them Here's what I don't like: -no washer dryer in most places (I hate community washer dryers) -some break ins (people who didn't lock their doors) but some also occurred in the common laundry area. I myself have always felt safe and if common sense is used you will probably be fine. People were leaving the laundry room door open and letting strangers in -poorly insulated, it gets real cold downstairs in the winter - some bugs esp in August September even though they spray Overall I would recommend this place. Only reason I'm moving is because I want a fenced in yard. read more

My husband and I have rented from Trinity Properties in 3 different locations, including 1 in Raleigh over the last 8 years. Most properties are older (so less amenities) but rent prices are fair and often in a convenient location (many close to downtown Durham). We found the management to be a pleasure to work with. Any time we needed maintenance work, they responded promptly and even worked with us on timing so we could make sure our pets were put away. We always received notice before maintenance would come by, maybe this was because they knew we had pets in the apartment/townhouse. Most recently we lived in Murchison townhomes for 2 years and only moved out because we're expecting and needed more space. read more

1) asked, unnecessarily, about my marital status 2) recruited renters to do manual labor for a christian charity and was really weird about the whole episode. 3) showed my apartment twice a week for two months while i was trying to write. it was a nightmare. 4) deeply paternalistic in all communications. you will never get a satisfying answer. 5) you can disregard this one, but i think the pesticide they use is not good for cats. mine got sick. 6) this is the one nice thing: the maintenance staff are the nicest people ever. and i really liked the trees before they cut them down. read more

Apartment had roach infestation. When I moved in, the door was painted shut, the stove was unhooked, a window was broken, there was two dead lizards in the sink, the washer/dryer didn't work, the screen door was broken, the glazing of the bath tub had flaked off and one of the bedrooms had a huge stain on the floor. This place is awful. Maintenance was slow, said they came and didn't. The front office people were rude and unhelpful. They don't even show you where your new apartment is. They only give you keys and you have to figure everything out. I had to leave for 3 days for them to reglaze the tub and restain the bedroom floor. When I came back, our apartment had a roach infestation!! Absolutely disgusting. And the front office didn't want to do anything about it. We were killing dozens of roaches. The tub also hasn't been reglazed. They just painted over it. (Awful!) Three weeks in, we told them we needed to move out because of all of these issues. They (illegally) told us we could only move out that weekend (this was on a Wednesday) or they would hold our security deposit. We immediately got out! These apartments are cheap and you get what you pay for. Worst renting experience ever. read more

I love living at Poplar West with Trinity Properties. Overall I have had nothing but good experiences. First, the management is super friendly and always very responsive to anything I need. The maintenence men who have worked in my townhouse are extremely friendly and helpful as well. I enjoy living in my two bedroom townhouse with hardwood floors. Duke is within walking distance as well as many restaurants. My dog and I love running the al bueler trail which is just two minutes away. Cons - the townhouse is old so it gets very cold during the winter downstairs and there are some bugs. read more

Management has been very responsive since all of the incidence took place. I can tell they've been working towards providing a better tenant experience. read more

I've lived in multiple cities with multiple managements, and Trinity is by far the best I've ever seen. They respond to maintenance requests quickly, and the staff go above and beyond what I ask for. One of the elements on my stove had stopped working, and I asked them to come take a look. They came the next day, and they replaced all of the elements instead of only the broken one. When I was trying to renew my lease but change units, the office staff went out of their way to call three other tenants to ask if they'd be willing to end their leases early so that I could move in at a more convenient time for me. read more

My apartment was very clean and ready to move in. The management team has been prompt in response to any questions or requests that I've had. They have a good communication with their guests, making sure everyone is happy. I'm happy to be living in Louise Circle with Trinity Properties. read more

I enjoyed my time in Poplar West! The staff was so friendly and helped me with the transition of moving in and moving out. I appreciate the fact that they were willing to address my concerns and took action. read more

I moved from another expensive property to Trinity Properties Apartment-Poplar West. Me, and my roomate shared the cozy townhome. Living here, I had a happy and comfortable feeling. We could have dinner, cook and meet friends on first floow which would not disturb our resting in the bedroom. What's more, all the staffs in the leasing office and the maintenance technician are very responsible and respectful. I cherished the experience living in Trinity properties. If I had to pointed one shortcoming, that is cockroach, which is more than other properties I have lived (They made me so scared to die). read more

Had a really scary homophobic experience with this property management company that I've been reluctant to talk about because it is embarrassing. VERY nasty and threatening on the phone. If you are white and straight, you will have no issues, but if you are not or have dear friends who are not, please consider renting elsewhere because if you have the chance to not give bigots money you should take it, especially in the South. read more

great location, bad parking, and the tenants were snobby. Does not represent Durham very well. Also, if you have an animal beware that some tenants may be upset by that. read more

Living at 506 N Buchanan was the best apartment experience we've had. Anytime anything went wrong in the apartment, management sent someone almost immediately to fix the problem. Management was incredibly friendly. Our apartment was clean, spacious, and incredibly well maintained. We cannot say enough positive things about our experience with Trinity Properties. AND they charged a very fair rental price. If you can snag a rental from them, you will not regret it. We had to move for a new job, but we had hoped to stay in this apartment for years. Loved this place!!! read more

horrible people. I didn't have good credit at the time because I have hefty school loans, and when my gf with decent credit asked if she could rent the place they said they'd be willing to rent to her with a catch. If they ever saw me around the property (even as a guest --my gf asked a follow-up question for clarity ), she could be evicted. I knew something was up when their application asked for my marital status. customer service from the stone ages. Rent elsewhere! read more

Living in Louise Circle is very happy. And the Trinity Properties is very helpful for dealing with the request from the tenants.

I rented at two different apartment properties through this company over the past three years and had a wonderful experience. This was my first time renting after graduating college and they were extremely helpful and flexible. All the people in the office built a personal relationship with me and were available for any questions or concerns I had during the moving in process. During my two years living at Murchison I had some minor issues (dryer not working well, some ants/roaches in summer, etc.) but these issues were resolved within the same day each time. My roommate and I even had an issue with a neighbor and Trinity helped to solve this issue in a professional and efficient manor. This last year I lived in the Campus Walk apartments. Everything in these apartments is much more up to date than Murchison. We never had a single issue here. I recommend renting through Trinity. They offer better value than most other places in Durham and the company is all located in one building so any issue you have will be taken care of quickly. read more

We rented a town home from them for approximately a year and a half. It was the wort possible renting experience ever. They had faulty wiring in the entire unit which caused our television to blow. We told them something was awry when we first moved in but they did nothing until our television actually blew and we reported them to the BBB and threatened to file a law suit. The only reason they were forced to fix it was because my father is an electrical contractor and documented that the property was not up to code. Despite having to rewire the entire until they refused to replace our 47' television. This is only one of the many horrible interactions we had with management. read more

I have had a great experience overall with this company after renting with them for about eight years. When I moved out they compensated me for rent I had unwittingly been overpaying (about $50). They also helped me dispose of some large furniture I no longer wanted but did not have the means to dispose of (free of charge). Over the years they were always very responsive to my maintenance concerns, with maintenance sometimes responding as quickly as the next day following a request. Overall the staff in the office were very friendly and professional, getting back to my emails and phone calls quickly. I would recommend working with this rental agency. My only complaint is that rent has gone up a LOT over the past eight years, but this is probably not unique to Trinity Properties. read more

We've been living at Murchison (managed by Trinity Properties) for about a year now. I could not be happier with the property or the management. We love our townhouse and the neighborhood. The neighbors are friendly. We have our cats with us (which is really hard to do sometimes). Hardwood floors. 20 min bike ride from downtown Durham (and we're right next to the Ellerbee Creek Trail). Management is super helpful and friendly (they keep us posted on Google Fiber for the property), and maintenance is a perfect 10. If I send an e-mail about a problem in the evening, it is answered before I leave for work in the morning, and repaired before I come home from work in the evening. There are crime risks in the area, but management e-mails everyone about problems, and it's way better than the neighborhood we lived in in North Raleigh (which was not a super sketchy area). And the price for what you get is really impressive too. We asked a friend living in Cary (who paid about the same amount in rent) what he got. The property was a bit more modern, but he didn't have a washer/dryer in unit, didn't have as much space, and didn't have hardwood floors, etc. We are big fans of Trinity, big fans of Murchison, and we don't plan on leaving until we're ready to buy a home. I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking to live in Durham. read more
