The District Collection Apartments - Kitchen with large island, stainless steel appliances and shaker cabinets in District Square

    The District Collection Apartments

TL;DR - move here, it's the best place to live in the Triangle - and 5th best place to live in…read moreAmerica (link below per 2017 data) Longer version: This is the place I live and renewed my lease, so that's noteworthy. If there's an apartment available - think about that - jump at it. As a research professional, I did my due diligence on every location in the area. Even the newer places (and this is the 2nd newest) pale in comparison. They're cheaply constructed and don't take livability into account. On the contrary, District Lofts are what you would pay $1 mil for in Manhattan - I know, I'm an NYC native. The quality of the build is only surpassed by Ashley, Mikayla and Clint, the property manager, assistant and chief of maintenance respectively. On that note, my wife and I are an interracial couple and anything you read here about racism is clearly a case of someone who got their feathers riled due to their poor finances and got all of their friends to 1 star this place - that's BS. Don't listen to that noise. District Lofts is exactly as advertised: A luxury apartment where you really do live above it all (I live right above the retail, so can attest). The amenities are always open and far surpass most that are around here (minus the pool, which is coming in Phase III of the complex). Moreover, the sense of community is outstanding, bar none - at least once a month there are social events in the pool hall/theater/putting range/amenity deck where beer, wine and food (catered by one of the local restaurants) are free. These aren't cheesy gimmicks, rather, a way to build a true community within the building that fosters the most desirable atmosphere. But beyond that, you live in an extremely secure location (cameras protect, but never intrude) with a private parking deck, access to the now "number 5 place to live in America" (https://www.niche.com/places-to-live/rankings/places/best-places-to-live/) and the personal touch that make it worth every penny. Bottom line: If you're looking for a sophisticated place to live where the staff emails you any time you have a package (for those that have experienced the opposite, you'll know how much that means), this is the spot. Plus, free concerts in the District, restaurants, shops and a theater (plus a Starbucks that's open until 11 or later). This is city living in a small community - at a price tag that beats older, (forgive the French) crappier places. If you value value, look no further.

Mark assisted me and provided impeccable service during the tour. So many others can learn from Mark. I'm appreciative of the assistance I received and the quote that Mark was kind enough to send over via email. The Loft was beautifully decorated in the leasing area and I love the wine on tap. The also smelled really nice at the entrance. I just couldn't get past Eau de Dumpster smell (from the trash chute) in the fitness room. I appreciated the explanation. In the moment, going to The Collection to use their amenities sounds good (for warmer months) but what about the days when I don't feel like it? As a 100% remote person I need all things in a building I'm living in to be pleasant. I can't believe in all the 9 years this building has provided residence with such a nice apartment community that they haven't considered renovating and moving the gym to another space. The Collection is beautiful with unique amenities.

A quick update: After calling multiple times Friday to…read morediscuss the pressing issues I listed previously, my calls were continuously rejected. (allowed to ring for shorter and longer times, then rejecting immediately, no voicemail box, etc) but when they finally responded to my google review in the public's eye, they made sure to mention that I can contact them anytime to discuss the matter. Sure. They have also chosen to stand by the void lease with my forged signature when finally emailing me back. A lease with a forged signature is not enforceable, therefore ( by law ) it is not legitimate and enforcing it violates multiple basic NC laws. But they "must follow the guidelines" ( whose guidelines? ones that they can make up on the spot? Ones not adhearing to NC business laws? who knows. ) I am a human being. I have only insisted on basic human rights, after I survived what happened. Because this threatened my life. I lived there, it was my home, too. Everything I've ever owned and carried through life is still inside that apartment. I have to keep insisting that I did not deserve to have everything taken away from me, simply because my ex wanted to move new people in to replace me. When they'd rather let their tenants get thrown onto the street due to the actions of an abusive spouse than do the right thing, they should not be allowed to manage and control anyone's housing. -- Steer clear of this place, management will not take action against illegal activity from tenants. My abusive spouse forged my signature to terminate my status on the lease when I lived here, effectively leaving me homeless while dealing with a chronic illness that I was made to miss treatments for. Management did nothing when made aware. Since my ex got away with forging my signature and was able to move more people in and out, me being off the lease also allowed the use of threats any time I said I was coming back to get my belongings-- including my own pets. My ex is also still evading divorce service after all this time while protected by management here. I had talked to the people in the management about everything, where they seemed sympathetic. They then went radio silent any other time I tried reaching out for help on returning. Since someone forging a signature to move others in and out is blatantly illegal, there is no reason for them to avoid a tenant breaking the law to such a degree. I had done everything expected of me, filed police reports locally, and the detective assigned just never responded to me either. No help from any sides, so now i just have to pray that im able to afford the right lawyer. There are plenty of other places to rent around this beautiful area, there is no reason to trust the staff here when a place of living should be protected for your safety. I didnt think I would survive having a home taken away from me, and people who could've done something chose to do nothing. The opposite of nothing, actively letting someone break the law and continuously renewing their lease.

My partner and I are moving from California and we planned a trip in September to see the area and check out a few communities in preparation for our move in December 2020. I called and left a voice message a couple of weeks ago and received a call back from Parker early the very next day when the office opened up again. Parker was very pleasant over the phone and answered all my questions. I set up an appointment for 9/17 And we met Chelsea when we arrived. She was very sweet, patient, and welcoming to us. She gave us a tour of three different layouts and we really liked all of them. The community seemed very clean. The rent rates were fair and they had specials going on. We really enjoyed our tour. This place is still our number one choice after visiting a few other communities. A lot of it had to do with the hospitality and outstanding customer service from the staff. The meme wall at the office was a nice touch. Made us laugh early on in our visit. The dog treats in the cute little lobby made us feel that our service animals will be welcomed. Moving can be a scary and stressful process especially when it's out of state. Parker and Chelsea made it a little less scary for us. Thank you Lincoln Apartments staff, we hope to see you again in December.

Short walking distance to super market, bars, restaurants, park, office & workout places. (yoga, row, HIIT) Walking distance to cameron village (huge plus). We have a small dog and she felt so comfortable, from the moment we arrived to the moment she left, her tail was wagging. The bed and linens were so comfortable, we wanted to purchase them! but unfortunately they were not for sale :( I would purchase the entire set if i could, I have insomnia and haven't slept that well in a really long time. The kitchen was perfectly layed out for the space we needed for a temporary home. Keurig was a huge plus in the AM and I was able to cook full meals without an issue. The bathrooms were very spacious & clean with modern fixtures. Only wish there was one tub. (we had two bathrooms) The living room was comfortable; was able to work from home comfortably without any issues. The cleaning staff was great. Very friendly and came in promptly at the same time every week. Wish i knew what scent they used b/c I am missing it. The lobby staff was absolutely amazing - they delivered your packages and mail everyday. If you have an issue, they check it out immediately. Just a few cons to the building: -In one of the bedrooms, you can hear the people upstairs. (although i think they were loud b/c it sounded like they had a young child running around) -Some of the walls are definitely too thin. -When people spoke loud in the hallway, we heard it pretty clearly. (but once this one person checked out and left, it was very quiet) But overall we loved the place and will be back.
