We loved the older charm of the unit (hardwoods, high ceilings, huge windows), and the kitchen was nicely updated. Some of the drawbacks were the cost of utilities because the home wasn't well insulated, and the occasional maintenance issue, but these are just old property issues and not Trinity specific. We were always super impressed with their responsiveness to any maintenance issues. This is a real stand out to us in terms of positives, and made a great impression. Also, they are incredibly fair with returning the security deposit, which you don't see very often! The people working in the office are all very kind and helpful. We wholeheartedly recommend these apartments to anyone looking for an attentive landlord, as long as your okay with dealing with the charms of older properties.

Once inside the Murchison apartments, the other couple pushed me aside and practically bowled me over to be first in the door, pounding Guy with questions then informing him they "probably" wanted the place but had "one more place to see and they'd be back soon" and abruptly left. Guy looked at me with a friendly smile and said, "Can I give you a quick tour?" I loved the place instantly: the big windows, spacious living area and hardwood throughout. The kitchen was as small as a postage stamp (recent photos show they expanded and remodeled it) and said I was ready to sign. He smiled and said, "I'm so glad you do. Those other folks weren't very polite; you seem like you'd be a very nice tenant." Guy was a terrific landlord and true to Trinity's website, the apartments were a great value, especially since they were close proximity to Duke University. I rented two apartments from Trinity at the Murchison Apartments on Demerious Street and Georgetown Apartments, my favorite being Georgetown because it had a large eat-in kitchen and pantry and two spacious bedrooms upstairs. (Murchison was a little quirkier and smaller, it was still a cute place. It had a fantastic storage area under the stairs where I stashed Christmas decorations and luggage). Both apartments were townhouses and very cozy with central air conditioning, a *must for those sweltering summers in the South. Both apartments were very well maintained by Trinity. After Guy had bought the Georgetown apartments he asked if we'd like to take a look. It was literally dollars more a month with an extra bedroom and extra 1/4 bath. He even let me choose the carpeting and linoleum from (4) samples and remodeled it fully before we moved in. If I ever moved back to the Triangle area, I'd call Guy for help navigating the real estate market since he is a very savvy real estate investor and/or rent from him again. All these years later, I still have the move/out form with a personal note from Guy that reads, "Thanks for leaving the place in such super shape!" All these years later, fond memories from a fabulous landlord. If you're looking for an apartment in Durham or Raleigh, start with Trinity Apartments.

Thankfully it was close to the communal car wash, so I was able to run him over there and get the ants off him quickly. He hated every second of this, and the ants somehow ended up biting me to shreds, but I got them off him. After that, I took him back to my apartment and then walked back down to the office to share this with the staff, thinking they would share with the exterminators to avoid other issues. But, everyone looked at me like I was crazy when I said I wanted to share the location of this ant hill and why. One of their newest staff members followed me outside (J thank you for coming with me and I'm sorry you got elected for this by default, but I very seriously appreciate you) and made note of the issue. Update #2: Someone mentioned the bad landscaping in another review and prior to moving in I kind of rolled my eyes about it... right? Bc with no context it's an odd thing to be upset about. But here is the thing.... It's a very dog friendly complex... SO.... Dead grass and random sticking up metal parts and holes in the ground = not the best place to walk your dog. Add a bunch of dogs, aerated turf, lots of rain, Straight up dirt with the metal bits and mess. I don't like it. At all. Update #3: Someone before me posted about the fire alarm and said it was painful to hear. I've now experienced it and can agree. This fire alarm is so loud that I couldn't get my cats out of my bedroom, my dog cried the entire walk downstairs and my ears still hurt badly from being either in my apartment, on my balcony or being outside. The video I posted is only of outside. But hopefully you get the gist. Thank God there was no actual fire today Bc I would not have been able to save all my animals. Luckily wrapping up a 20-month experience which has been sub par in many ways: 1 - Irresponsible Management: Greystar is a joke. Since the previous manager left ~10 months ago, things have gone downhill. In our instance they raised our rental price by 70% for a short-term month to month lease necessary to bridge to my wife's graduation! If you have an uncertain planned rental term, you're in for a ride - with your fate turned over to some unknown algorithm and inaccessible 'pricing analyst.' 2 - Facility Deterioration: Common areas are not as well taken care of, especially since management turned over. Trash rooms always have some unwelcome surprise, hallways routinely have trash unaddressed from the 'valet' and grills / workout facilities are inconsistently cared for. 3 - Non-existent Ownership: First off, our close friends at Greystar will not give contact information, but informed us they sent grievances on our behalf. Unsurprising, we received no response - typical of rent seekers.

If I could rate them lower I would.When I moved in it took several months to get everything working, from my sink falling out of my counter, to a moldy washing machine and broken dryer, broken heat during a big freeze for over 72 hours, I've seen it all. I paid so much extra in utilities because my hot water heater was old and breaking constantly. Management also refused to answer reasonable questions, such as the brand of rock salt they used in the winter (my dog had ingested it and I needed to figure out the tox report for her vet team). I did not feel safe living here, I nearly got hit by several cars speeding, accosted by other residents and vistors, and someone lacked the ability to control their dog. I had to physically pull a 45+ lbs dog off of my 12 lbs one. My upstairs neighbor was loud, smoked (in a smoke free community), and when I complained I was told "he's been gone for months," "Nobody lives up there," etc when I've seen him go home every day. I was told once to confront him myself by management because they were too short staffed to do it themselves. I once found threatening notes from and to other neighbors and weapons such as crowbars stuck in the ground. Oh, also nobody picks after themselves. Maintenance is incompetent and cost me several hundred dollars in medical expenses, after I alerted them of my vents being filthy and causing my allergies to me to urgent care multiple times. My doctors all instructed me to avoid my allergens, and the head of maintenance ignored my instructions and blew the filthy vent crud all over my apartment to "clean it." The entire time I lived here, I thought I was going crazy from all the gaslighting from the staff. I attempted to speak to the property manager SEVERAL times and she refused to acknowledge me. Her underlings also covered for her and deflected at every chance they got. They would constantly acknowledge my experience here was terrible and they will do their best to "improve" but in the end nothing was ever done. Do not waste your time, money or energy here.

Not only is it included in our rent, I've submitted a work order at least 6 times for terminex and they've come multiple times. We are not dirty people. We take out the trash every night, don't have dirty dishes, etc. the amount of roaches and "water bugs" I've seen is absolutely insane. I got tired of waking up and seeing a new friend so I called the front office and they told me "don't worry! They don't bite!"...... not at all what I want to hear. We have had this issue for some time, so we have been overly cautious about opening doors, wiping everything down, anything you can think of. After month 3 we even bought our own roach traps. I understand it's getting hotter and we have trees on the property. I've lived in an older apartment before and I understand the occasional water bugs. This is not that.

I am about to move out to relocate after staying here through 3 years of law school, so figured I would leave a review after reviews helped me decide on a new apartment. Autumn Woods is a great place to live, and was perfect for me through grad school. It is peaceful, well-kept, clean, manicured, etc. The best part of the complex is the people. In the management team, La Shawn and Lisa are just the absolute best. They are friendly and attentive, and I have enjoyed their company occasionally when I stop by the office. I have never once experienced any bit of rudeness from anyone at Autumn Woods. The apartments themselves are not the latest greatest top notch of everything, but everything works and looks nice, and the maintenance team has been great to work with when things stop working. When the apartment over mine flooded and water came in through my roof while I was away for the summer, the maintenance team took care of the issue fairly quickly and Lisa kept me well-informed of their progress while I was away. I have especially enjoyed my balcony overlooking the wooded area at the back of the complex, it's a great place to find some peace and study amid fresh air. My only complaint (I have to say something to prove I wasn't bribed!) is that the trash fees amount to around $60/month, which includes valet trash and the cost of disposal itself. This is pretty steep compared to what I've seen in other communities. Other than that, I truly haven't had any issues. If you're looking in the area, come by and meet Lisa or La Shawn and take a quick tour. If you like what you see, I definitely recommend staying here. I decided on this place after Lisa was so kind and professional giving me a walk-in tour, assuming that this interaction (and Lisa!) reflected the culture here. I was not disappointed! I never had any issues with neighbors here, literally none. I also never saw any undergraduates, mostly professionals and some grad students, some families. I lived at the back of the complex facing Food Lion, and fairly close to it, but I've rarely been disturbed by noise from over there. Maybe I got used to it, but it certainly wasn't anything dramatic (and I'm also a light sleeper if that helps)! Again, I never had any issues at all with the management and staff. The maintenance folks are going around the apartments all the time, and at least some of the office folks are always in the office if I need them. Again, never an issue. My concerns were always taken care of quickly, no issues at all. Maybe I'm naive or something but I don't think the rent is overpriced for the area. Either way, compared to what I've seen of similar apartments, I'd stick with this one. I also never had any issues with noise from neighbors, including in the common areas. Since James's review, management has repainted and spruced up the exteriors of everything as well.
