About 3 years ago, I was referred to North Texas Smiles because my regular family dentist didn't…read morefeel like he could handle my daughter's extensive cavities. Dr. Warcup gave me a treatment plan that included general anesthesia, and it was really expensive. I did have dental insurance, but even with the dental insurance, I was going to have to pay $3,500 out of pocket. I took his treatment plan and my daughter to 2 other pediatric dentists (sorry, Dr. Warcup). They all assured me that Dr. Warcup's plan was reasonable, and they all advised me to go with his plan. That's 3 dentists so far who didn't want to get involved! So, I took my daughter back to Dr. Warcup, scheduled the appointment, and went looking for $3,500. To be honest, I had a ton of anxiety around the whole thing. The day of the appointment, we showed up and were the only patients in the office. My daughter got all set up with the anesthesiologist, I spoke with Dr. Warcup, he explained exactly what he was going to do, how long it would take, what to expect, etc. I'm pretty sure I cried, and he was really sweet and professional about it. The staff got me set up comfortably in the waiting room, and then when I was done, they brought me to get my daughter, who was still knocked out. They helped me wrap her up in blankets that they provided for me, and walked me out to the car. They were so respectful and so kind when I was so messed up about the whole thing, that I'm still emotional about it to this day. The billing specialist worked a small payment plan out with me, and gave me what I thought was a little bit of leeway. She did so as if it was a pleasure for her, when I've had other dentist offices be stand-offish about payment. My daughter has gone back to Dr. Warcup faithfully for her 6 month cleanings, and she hasn't had a cavity or any issues whatsoever since. I'm finally leaving Dr. Warcup and taking her to a new dentist only because I moved to the other side of DFW. I made the trip from Frisco to Fort Worth once and would continue to do so if just for the cleanings, but it doesn't seem realistic since my daughter will be in braces soon. Dr. Warcup referred me to a new dentist in my new location, with whom I've already scheduled an appointment. To sum all of this up, Dr. Warcup took my daughter as a new patient with a complex case and put her teeth to right, did a wonderful job, and was respectful, kind and professional throughout the entire process. This was a big event in my parenting life, and he and his staff left a favorable, meaningful memory of it. I trust his professional opinion so much, that if he had told me he was going to install moon dust on my daughter's teeth in leu of say braces, I'd be totally cool with it.

Dr. Warcup was so thorough in examining her and then took a lot of time to explain that he didn't feel it was the best decision. Rather than doing the procedure to make a profit, he gave us his honest opinion, parent to parent. For the last year, every time we drive by his office we talk about how thankful we are that he was honest and kind. A year removed, we feel strongly that Dr. Warcup was totally correct in that decision and we are so thankful he had her best interest in mind!

This is the second time I came into this business where the lady in the front desk was rude and unfriendly to me. When I walked in, she stared at me (she wasn't busy at the time), never smiled, never said hello and curtly said, "What is your name?" in an annoyed rude curt tone. BUT ONE MINUTE LATER a Caucasian male walked in and she was super sweet as pie to him and said "Hello! How can I help you Sir? What is your name please?" Totally different treatment like night and day. She treated him with the utmost respect in front of me one minute after she treated me like crap. When I complained they told me to find another dentist which I did. My dentist who I have been with for years now is a million times better than this one. The old female who is the receptionist is a miserable hateful person who dislikes Asians obviously. Their lame response below "We are sorry you feel this way" is NOT an apology. It is a non-apology that has no empathy and has no accountability for the receptionist's rudeness; and they are implying that my feelings are the problem. It is a really crappy and fake response that reflects their lack of empathy.
