We especially love Doce Mercer, known for corporate gift boxes and confections, but here at the local market with homemade Portuguese-style breads like English muffins, Portuguese rolls, and focaccia. Michelle and her daughter Martika offer excellent bread goods, and quite affordable, if not a wee bit underpriced in this economy. We're grateful for the good deals, but want them to stay in biz. We also get our bakery breads from Berkshire Mountain Bakery, because their sourdough breads and pastries are the best anywhere. We find their breads life-changing because they're really breads, made with double fermentation and offering an amazing variety like jalepino-cheese ciabattas, San Francisco sourdough and baguettes. Amazing breads. Tom's honey products and fresh farm eggs is another "can't miss" vendor, who even with the rising egg prices has kept his product very affordable. Also we love Plum Island Jams, which have to be the best on the planet. The pineapple coconut is my fav, but there isn't one I can resist. Of course we love fresh produce, and there are several choices at the market. The rains, Covid and inflation have reduced the number of vendors, but we can only hope with patronage to bring in more. Jody does a great job of managing the vendors and serving her patrons. Families can also find picnic table where they can enjoy food truck fare from hot dogs to ice cream to pizza and more. Then there's the park itself offering great scenery and a zoo.

It's a really small Farmers Market and pretty much in about 10-15 minutes you've seen everything. Sometimes you have interesting vendors come out, and sometimes not so much. I personally like when Ground Up Flour is there, as well as when this young woman (I forget the name of the tent) selling baked goods is there. She usually has a wide variety including gluten free and vegan options available and at reasonable prices. My favorite thing from her tent is her lemon-blueberry loaf. I sometimes buy fresh produce, especially when they have things you don't normally see at the grocery store like Japanese Red Kuri pumpkin, and purple asparagus. I'll continue to support, just wish they had more vendors.

When are you going to land?…read moreI should have stayed on the farm I should have listened to my old man" (Elton John) Bielonko Farms is a cute modestly sized farmstand in scenic Suffield, CT -more or less halfway between Bradley Airport and the Massachusetts border. They sell gorgeous locally farmed produce like corn, tomatoes, squash, peppers, cucumbers and beans. Being close to Halloween, we saw scores of pumpkins of every size and description everywhere. Flowers were also well represented with overflowing flowerpots and baskets bursting with color in every direction. They feature two big signs that will catch your attention. One says, "Thanks to All Vets" and another says, "If You Can't Stop, Smile as you Go By". We were on a mission to pick up some cornstalks to decorate the light pole on the front lawn, and we did take home a nice bundle of stalks for $10. It was brimming with humongous ears of corn, which we detached and tossed into the woods, so as to discourage the bears from loitering by our front door. PRO TIP The website on their Yelp page is a broken link. Apparently, they have replaced their website with a Facebook page, which seems to be an increasingly popular trend among businesses.

When I saw my Yelp friends Ana and Kim both review this very cool place, well I kind of made my mind up that I'd check it out too. I mean, how can you resist going to a store that has no employees, and you pay for whatever you buy on the honor system, either electronically or putting your dinero into a cash box. The store is small, but jam packed with frozen foods, ice cream, fudge, honey, jarred goods, coffee, goat and cow soap products, clothes, jewelry, a full dairy case of milks, eggs, and cheese, and more. We ended up buying a frozen portion of ground veal at a great price- just $7 for close to a pound. The purchase came at the perfect time for us because we needed it for our Thanksgiving meatballs recipe. So go take a ride to the country and check out this unique place. You'll have a blast poking around and looking at the many cows next to the store. In fact the whole experience is a pretty cool one.

The inside of the building is cozy; right outside, there were cows grazing. They have a variety of products. A few of the products were handmade cow/goat milk bath products, dairy products, fudge, ice cream, eggs, chicken, pork, beef, popcorn, honey, syrup, shirts, compost, etc. We purchased eggs, half gallon whole milk, and body soap. They had a $5 sale basket for handmade soaps. This is a great place to get local gift items. Most importantly, you're supporting a small business! I highly recommend it and can't wait to go in different seasons to see their offerings.

It is located in an old large farm building that provides a nice rustic farm atmosphere. There usually isn't a huge amount of produce to choose from, but what they do have is fresh and in season. The woman who runs it also provides many free recipe cards! If you're in the area definitely check this place out. It's great to support small family run businesses like this one. While I've never done this here, I believe they allow apple picking during the the season.

I think it was the last day of fall so there were some games out back like duck racing, steer roping, corn hole etc that were fun to play as you finished your ice cream. So I can be very critical when necessary. But not with this beautiful family run restaurant and bakery. I never remember names, but the dad was in IT and got out and bought this orchard. Mom does the cooking and baking. And the daughters are the servers. Beautiful vibe and family. And friendly farm cats. A very small but fresh menu. My friend and I both had different quiches. This was the best quiche I ever had!!! We also split a bowl of oatmeal that was filled with goodies...nuts, granola, etc. we both had the tea/lemonade combo that was also wonderful. Then we went into the bakery to pay. But will all the goodies we both bought way too much stuff. In addition to the incredible baked goods they have frozen homemade soups, homemade jellies and jams, local honey, and much more. The sourdough English muffins were excellent. When we left one of the daughters was picking herbs from the raised beds. I had to think long and hard about whether to write this review. I want them to be successful but not too successful.
