We went here while in Sandpoint for a bachelorette party. We had a pretty large group and although we got sat right away, the service was very slow. They didn't have enough menus for all of us - so, we had to pass the two they had around. Not a huge deal, we had to wait long enough to order that they almost made it around the table. The service was also a little awkward - a couple different people came by and kept telling us to go visit a particular bar, which, I guess the owner is also the owner of? It just felt really pushy. The location is fantastic! It's right on the water, so if you're lucky enough to visit on a nice day and get a seat outside you will certainly enjoy it! The food wasn't bad. We ordered the crab cakes and calamari to start. The crab cakes were good, but the calamari was flavorless. If it weren't the dipping sauce and being so hungry - I don't think I could have eaten them. For my entree, I got the chicken It had nice flavor - wasn't the flavor I expected, but it still tasted good. I think if I'm in Sandpoint again I'll try something new, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying this again someday.

Arrived one hour before closing. The food was very good. It took longer than customary for our food to arrive so the waitress offered a free dessert (one of which we accepted) and more bread (which we didn't need.) Beautiful view, great service, great food!

Did not think restaurants could be this good in Sandpoint! Definitely set a bar that no one else quite met in this town. They were extremely accommodating to our larger party, and the view for dinner was absolutely next level. We will be back if we are in town again!

This place is always a hit. Consistently good service with fantastic food and drinks. They are family friendly, especially in the summer when your kids can run on the grass and beach outside. The kid's menu does suck. Wish they would offer fruit/veggies/salad as a side. And add some veggies/condiments on the burgers/quesadillas/etc. The adult menu is good - super delicious salads (the best!), tasty sandwiches, and other things like fish n chips. We've never had bad adult food here. Their bar is also on point, with a good selection of beer/wine/cocktails *Updated to say the kids menu is still boring/unhealthy (typical restaurant kid food), though they have apple slices as a side option now. And their sweet potato fries are significantly better than the normal fries. Some of our favorite meals are the Blackened Chicken & Brie salad, the Pecan Crusted Chicken salad, and the Ahi salad. And my favorite drink from there is a Bloody Mary.

Trinity just extended their hours to include lunch and dinner during the COVID pandemic. They have done a nice job eliminating tables to give very good spacing and they have done a nice job of cleaning tables between guests. They also have deck seating with overhead heaters. On our visit today it was relatively slow, so attention at the table was very good. It always is anyway. The food was outstanding, as usual. The French Dip and Cajun Mac&Cheese were the meals of choice and both were outstanding. The sweet potato fries that my wife ordered with her French Dip were also amazing. A plate of those would serve as a great appetizer by themselves. We finished off the meal with a single tiramisu, which is our long standing favorite here. Looking forward to our next visit.

    Corn And Crawfish Chowder

My mom wanted to eat here for her birthday. I wondered why she'd pick a restaurant attached to a Best Western. After eating here, now I know why. We started our celebration in the bar, where Lance whipped up delicious lemon drop cocktails. We had one regular and another with huckleberry vodka. While I liked both, the huckleberry one was exceptional (and could probably lead to a massive hangover because they're so easy to drink). For dinner, everyone in our party ordered the corn and crawfish chowder. I love chowder, and this is some of the best I've ever tasted. Order a bowl because a cup is not enough. For dinner, I ordered the lobster ravioli which was the perfect amount of pasta, lobster and sauce. My mom got the crab cakes. My stepdad ordered the scallops. We all loved our entrees. For desert we got the blueberry crisp, which IMO would've been better with more blueberries instead of the lemon layer at the bottom. It's still good, but not the best. Our server Matt went above and beyond. He was patient as we were the last party to leave the restaurant and never rushed us. He also had great hair. The only downside to my visit came the next morning, when packing up the car. After loading up all my snowboard gear, I made one last trip inside to get my leftovers, only to realize I locked my keys in the car. Then an hour later after AAA arrived and I'd started my drive home, I realized I forgot my leftovers. So looks like I'll have to come back again!

Grouper--very simple but pretty good. I liked it.

My mother and I went out for a quick meal at Trinity. No appetizer, no salad, just an entrée for each of us. I had the grouper with broccolini and rice pilaf, and my mother had the salmon risotto. My grouper was very good. It had a pat of lemon butter on top. Grouper is a meaty white fish. It had a breading and was sautéed. The broccolini was cooked perfectly, and the rice pilaf had a lot of flavor. I think the dish was a tad bit expensive, but it was good. My mother had salmon risotto. The risotto was flavorful but I think the risotto didn't quite soak up all the liquid and was just a tad soupy, but it did have lots of flavor. There was a nice big, perfectly cooked piece of salmon on top of the risotto, which was delicious. Our male server was very friendly and excellent. It was a busy Sunday evening but the meal came out promptly and we had no complaints. This interior REALLY needs some tender loving care. It would just require some elbow grease and very little money to clean, paint and spruce the place up with some imaginative decorating. A world of difference could be had in just a few days of work.

    Perfect patio for families!

We ate here twice on our four day vacay, and tried to eat here a third day but it was closed. It's quickly become our favorite Sandpoint stop, because it's right off the water with solid food and drinks. This most recent trip we brought our kids and they had a great variety on the kids menu and a patio where we could watch them playing in the grass. I wasn't in love with the Lions Mane mushroom burger I got because it came as a few seasoned mushrooms on a bun with runny slaw, but I've loved everything else I've gotten: fish and chips, Greek salad, ahi salad, clams, calamari, burgers... we eat here quite a bit.. :) The service is also kind and quick, as we threw sporadic orders at them-- everything came out hot and fast!

Solid lunch right on the lake. Excellent service, good views, tasty bacon gouda burger, and bug flavor in the corn and crayfish chowder. Recommended!

Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is upscale, but casual, lakeside dining, and every table has a view of the lake. I had the Chicken Florentine Alfredo, which had a wonderful cream Alfredo sauce that was topped with a generous amount of fresh grated parmesan cheese. The penne pasta was cooked al dente, as it should be. The wife had the Pasta Primavera, which had a very flavorful and spicy sauce, and the penne was also prepared wonderfully. Service was very good. They offer live entertainment five nights a week, and have a Happy Hour daily. The evening we were there they had a violinist and guitarist/vocalist. There is a large outdoor seating area overlooking the beach, and a large lounge/bar area. The restaurant is part of the Best Western Hotel building, but the entrance is not identified well. The building is part of the "City Beach Park" area downtown. We ate at six different restaurants in Sandpoint / Ponderay while visiting, and Trinity was the best!Reservations should be made well in advance to get seated around six o'clock, as the place fills up quickly at prime dinner hours.

    View from our table!

The views from the outside deck were great! They were very busy for the Sunday brunch service took awhile to be seated, but we still enjoyed the meal. Server Jaimie was extra helpful and friendly. Ahi salad was the hit of the day. Fresh warm rolls melted in your mouth. Wine selections and prices were excellent! Highly recommended for a spring or summer afternoon visit.

Great spot on the beach at Sandpoint, they allow dogs on the patio. Food is mediocre and drinks are yummy but watered down. Located in a Best Western hotel on the beach - older building but great attentive service.

Portuguese Clams! To die for! Must dip the bread. You can't get enough.
    Lea H.

Hands down one of my favorite places. Views from every seat. Even better outside when the weather is good. The service is ALWAYS great. Never ate anything I didn't like. Those clams though!!

It has since become a semi regular place for us when we're looking for breakfast or lunch of the sort that ends up being just about the only meal we'll eat that day. I can't recommend it from experience, but Green Eggs & Ham is what really put Hoot Owl on the map. But for my money, it doesn't get much better than their Ranch Burger. Breakfast or lunch, that's my go to along with an endless cup of coffee and tall glass of ice water. Whoever decided to mix ranch dressing and barbecue sauce deserves and Nobel effing Peace Prize. My wife has tried a number of their omelette and scramble offerings and never been disappointed. And then there's the cinnamon rolls. Brace yourself because it's literally the size of your face. Dripping in frosting and served with roughly half a cube of whipped butter, the cinnamon roll is an event unto itself, and definitely a prime item for sharing with the table. The atmosphere is very cozy and...Rural. It feels like something out of a period film; very down to earth and eclectic with lots of owl knickknacks all over the place. If you've a bad back or bad posture, I'd recommend a table over a booth as the booths are a little short in the seat and very straight backed. Parking is usually not bad, even when they're busy (which is often), but it's in a dirt lot that shares its real estate with a drive through coffee shack. Lots of potholes at the entrance, so depending upon your vehicle, get ready to slalom a bit. The restaurant offers free WiFi to guests and is relatively kid friendly with plenty of high chairs, decks of cards at the table, etc. Service has always been friendly and expedient. They recently started tacking on a 3% surcharge for card transactions, but if you pay cash you get a discount...Of 3%. Heh. Anyway, if you're in the area and you want a big meal at a decent price, this place is fantastic. Forgot to mention prices, but a half pound specialty burger with fries ranges $13-$16, and similar pricing on other entree menu items. Get you some.

Not the most pleasant site right next to our booth. Service was friendly and quick. We had our food in no time. I got the Eggs Benedict and my husband got the Chicken Fried Steak. Food was mediocre and the portions were unnecessarily huge.

Sweet Lou's was actually down the street and it had some foods that sounded really good. I was seated immediately and my waiter Elijah got my drink order. I asked him what he recommended and he mentioned the Tailgate Eggrolls and a burger. But I was really craving a steak and he said they had a special on prime rib. I'm a huge steak lover, especially prime ribs so I opted for that with the Tailgate Eggrolls. I suppose I was hungrier than I thought after a long day and I ate everything. The 5 Tailgate Eggrolls, a Caesar Salad (not pictured), the prime rib, and a cup of Vegetable Beef soup. The eggrolls were filled with cream cheese, jalapeños, cheese and served with a jalapeño pepper jelly. If you love cream cheese, this appetizer for you. I like crab rangoon, I like jalapeño poppers, and now I like these egg rolls. The Caesar salad was great. Fresh romaine, crunchy seasoned croutons, shredded Parmesan cheese, and fresh cracked pepper. The star of the show was the prime rib. I've had many prime ribs, rib roasts, beef roasts in my life big I've never had one smoked, which was a detail I missed when Elijah was telling me about it. Let me tell you, the smoke flavor was infused with the meat and the seasoning on the prime rib was superb. The addition of BOTH horseradish and aus jus is a nice touch. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Last but not least, the vegetable beef soup was chock full of celery, potatoes, and huge chunks of beef. Hearty and delicious indeed. If you're living here, then I'm jealous Sweet Lou's is here for you. If your visiting, pay Sweet Lou's a visit. Elijah is a fantastic server!
