Covid time review: Had dinner with friends at Trinity at City Beach in Sandpoint after a day of spring skiing. We had no problem getting a table for 4 despite calling last-minute. The restaurant is conveniently located and has a wonderful view of Lake Pend d'Oreille. The dining room is spacious and can accommodate larger parties. All of the staff were wearing masks and they made hand sanitizer available at the front door. There were signs up asking patrons to wear masks while not seated. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations. The menu (both dinner and lounge menu items were available on a Sunday night) is on the extensive side. We had Portuguese clams ($16) and poutine (sans pork) appetizers to share. The poutine is just what you'd want--the fries crispy, gravy savory, and curds melty. The sauce on the clams was sooo good, we asked for extra bread after the clams were all gobbled to soak it up. For entrees, the four of us had the 10 oz prime rib ($27), the trout dore ($22), the scallops ($29), and crab cakes ($19.50)/spring mix salad ($10). We all enjoyed our meals. The prime rib was memorable. It had the ideal amount of fat streaking and was very flavorful and tender cooked to medium. I ate it dipped in au jus and with the mashed potato and asparagus sides. The trout was also a crowd pleaser; the accompanying tomato-based sauce was really nice. Our friend ordered the spring mix salad expecting an appetizer size but it was definitely an entree portion, especially given the price. Wine list was also extensive and with options for different price points. Ended the meal with a slice of cheesecake with berry sauce. Overall, would recommend Trinity for a splurgy night out in Sandpoint--the view is hard to beat, the ingredients are fresh, the service befitting the bill, and the food elevated but unpretentious. read more

What a gem!!! I usually don't write reviews but had to for Trinity. We wanted to sit outside for the beautiful view and had just a short wait in the bar for our table. Food was fabulous and the service was better than the five star restaurant we went to the night before! We ordered poutine because I'd never had it before and it was as good as I thought it would be. Then we ordered a French dip and said we'd split it. They brought it already split for us on two separate plates which it makes it easier to eat and was very thoughtful. My husband had a bacon Mary to drink, which he loved, and I had a huckleberry lemon aid (SO good) and then I had the local Sandpoint IPA which was out of this world! Do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant. You'll love it! read more

We walked quite a ways from our hotel to enjoy the lake view and a drink on the patio. The problem was that it was a record-breaking hot day, so we didn't get the experience we were expecting. Totally not the fault of the restaurant, it was hot out! The view was awesome. We enjoyed a couple of their signature cocktails and the nachos which were huge! We would have eaten more, but it was too warm. We will have to try them again. read more

Where did my credit card go? It was a hot day in Sandpoint during one of their heatwave. We stopped in to get lunch and a drink opting for the bar so we won't have to wait for a table during the lunchtime period. We got our drinks and ordered a sandwich to split. Our drinks and the sandwich were good. We were relaxing and chatting. After a while, the bartender Tony put our bill in front of us, and I put a credit card out. We were both checking emails and when I looked up the credit card and paper to sign were in front of me. Then it happened. I said to Tony, "This is not my credit card." He asked me again what I had said and I repeated. He then said he must have switched mine with the couple sitting next to me. He took off to try to caught them. No luck. Next, they checked to see if the credit card owner was staying at the hotel. Nope. A resourceful employee from the hotel registration desk was able to track down via Facebook a means to contact the CC's owner. She sent a message. We were on a two week vacation to western Washington and north Idaho and now we had no credit card. We left the restaurant and did a few things returning in the evening. Asking for an update at the restaurant's host stand, they knew nothing about the situation. Hunting for someone who might know something, they found the gal from the hotel. She said the girlfriend had communicated with the restaurant that her boyfriend would drive the credit card back the next day from where they live in Coeur d'Alene. We kept checking our CC balance to see if the card had been used; it had not and never was. The next day we hadn't heard anything so we headed to the restaurant late in the afternoon. Again, no one there at the time knew anything about what had occurred. They searched around for anything with information. Buried in a drawer at the host podium was their credit card with my name and phone number on a piece of paper. My CC had not come back. I gave the restaurant permission to share my phone number with the CC owner since they had contact info for him and ask him to call me. A couple of hours later he called me. It was great making contact and he explained he couldn't make it on that day, understanding it was tough for us, but said he would get it to the restaurant in the morning and text me. Day 3: He text to say he was on his way and about 45 minutes later text to say he had gotten his CC and left mine. We drove to the restaurant to get my CC. I asked to speak to the manager and was informed the owner was the one to talk to. He was at the host podium when one of the employees told him we were there. He made a phone call and then came over giving us the credit card and thanking us for our patience. I told him it's tough being on vacation with no credit card; he agreed. I told him I wanted to have the other couples charge removed from my CC. He said he's sure it was but would check. It wasn't. He wrote me a check to cover the amount. He handed it to me, thanked me again for my patience, and walked off. My review is not surprisingly made based upon this experience and not the food and drink where good. It is based on the credit card situation. We obviously could not pay for sandwich and two drinks each because we had no credit card. The fact the owner offered us nothing was incredible to us. Three days of us trying to get our card back because of the restaurant's error and nothing! Amazing. read more

Dinner July 2017 Nice location with both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating can be especially loud. They ought to install sound absorbing materials in ceiling. Fried calamari was good, not great. $12 Crab cakes (3 small ones $18.50) were good. A bit pricey for the amount/size. Cioppino broth was really good ... awesome ... the volume of fish wasn't much however all tasted great and the toast was good as well. $26 The (on the bar menu) Pecan cruted chicken salad was excellent and fair priced $13.50 The dinner special salad of copper river salmon was also very nice $25. read more

What happened?? Used to be spot on but doesn't even show up on my radar for a nice meal out...Too much money and the food/service isn't worth it. My Prime Rib, medium rare, was raw. The knives were lackluster and the service was laughably ignorant and under dressed. Ick! read more

Really nice spot with a great view of the water. I had the scallops and the husband had the salmon. Both were delicious. Our server was a delight. The place was a bit noisy at first, but as soon as the loud party cleared out, we had no problem hearing each other, and truly enjoyed our time there. Would definitely recommend. read more

Made reservations on there website they didn't have the reservation. Finally got seated however got the worst service and the food was pretty bad. There was 5 of us and everyone said there food was sub standard two orders of fish and chips both were soggy. They forgot the wife's meal, so they put the order in and she said it was the worse Calamari she has ever had. And she gets it quite often when it's available on a menu. We went once before and I got the pulled pork nachos. I personally thought they were extremely boring. So we don't think we will be going back. I would like to add they did not charge us for the fish and chips. read more

I chose Trinity for a family gathering of 14 people. What a fantastic decision it was. Starting with the lakefront beach location, the live music which was not too loud, and covered amazing classic songs. The staff were super friendly and the food was awesome. Everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

A very excellent experience for lunch. The site is perfect, glass wall looking out upon the marina and the mountains which surround the lake. Nice for winter meals and outstanding in climate weather when you can sit outside on the large patio. Great bar and a recipe card with some clever concoctions. We imbibed. The menu, likewise, had a number of interesting and unique items. We had the Hatch sandwich, named from the Hatch chile within it and the prime rib sandwich. Both were excellent and generous portioned. I just had to try their corn/crawfish chowder and that was a meal in itself if you ordered a bowl. Yum, yum...so flavorful. Brett was our excellent server. She did it all, and all well. Although the bar is attractive, the plainness of the dining area is profound. It is bare wood floor, walls with minimal decoration, simple tables without coverings and all it needed was florescent lighting to finish the decor. We asked why and the answer was that it is the way it is, no one complains and they feel no need to dress it up, even for dinner. Reminded us of a banquet hall or some such other rental place for Legion or Rotary dinners. But...it is the food, not the decor that counts, so if you want a nice meal, well prepared and served in addition to some libations, this is the scenic place to go in Sandpoint. read more

we have eaten here many times. Our recent visit was as always top notch. Appitzer of calmari and huckleberry dip was cooked nicely. The grilled ceasaris not done anywhere to compare the great taste of it.I was delighted with the stroganaff with prime rib meat special. Truly shows passion for sauce. We also had the ever delicious prime rib. Solid good. Left in remorse we did have a fantastic desert by that I mean wow. Full from dinner and could not stop with the decadent flavor of there tiramisu. Service all through was top notch. Atmospere is most comforting for any great night planned or not. read more

We were excited to dine here again after a great experience last year. Sadly it was not the same this year. The inside dining was mostly filled with a large group for breakfast. They were very loud and we couldn't hear each other at our own table. I am so disappointed at the degradation of the food quality. The Ahi tartar that was great last year was scant and soggy in sauce. It was like they were trying to cover something up. The Cesar salad tasted mostly like anchovies. I added chicken to it, and they charged $6.99 for a small chicken tender. I don't understand the inconsistently in the quality. read more

Great spot for breakfast. Piping hot bottomless coffee and fast, friendly service. My husband got the meat scramble with wheat toast and loved it. I went out on a limb and tried the Hot Teff cereal, with a side of sausage and some fruit to be safe. The Teff must be an acquired taste - a nutritional powerhouse but I could not eat it. Nothing like oatmeal. The sausage links were delicious. The waitress insisted on taking the Teff off the bill even though I expected to pay for it. So sweet. We will be back next time we're in Sandpoint. I can imagine the views in summer are breathtaking. They were pretty good on a gray December morning too! read more

My husband and I fly to Sandpoint annually to visit family and friends. I like to stay at Best Western's Edgewater property because it is close to the beach, Lake Pend de Oreille and town. We stopped for a quick lunch at Trinity because it was located on the hotel property. The service was quick and friendly. The menu was typical lunch fare of sandwiches, pasta dishes, entree salads and a few odds and ends, like fish & chips. I ordered the fish (Alaskan cod) and chips. There were 3 pieces and lots of french fries. There was a cup of homemade tartar sauce and malt vinegar on the side. The fish was lightly battered and moist. I really enjoyed the homemade tartar sauce. The chips were regular, frozen-like fries so nothing to write home about. I would recommend this restaurant because of the proximity to the beach and the view of the lake. read more

Perhaps the best part of our meal was the chocolate mint after dinner candy. Both my fiancé and I thought an entree with wild sockeye salmon would be great. Unfortunately we were both dissatisfied and disappointing. Not only did the fish not taste fresh it was dry and lacking flavor. Since we did not have a reservation we did have a short wait on their guest list. Don't sit at the bar as you are at the mercy of the other guests. The noise pollution was very distracting from the lovely lake view. read more

My dinner would have been more enjoyable, if it weren't for a fly following us around from Wallace, Idaho, to Sandpoint, Idaho! But, it's not the restaurant's fault, we wanted to be outside and enjoy the weather, and the scenery. It was very nice & it was THE perfect time of year to be out, before the cooler autumn weather begins. We started with the Caesar salad, it was huge, even after we cut it in half to share for 2. This is even better than the salad you'll find in Greece! My dinner: Huckleberry Pork Cassonade Pork tenderloin scallopine sautéed with huckleberries, artichoke hearts, mushrooms and tomatoes, finished with a touch of brown sugar and cream, served with potato du jour. Half of that will be my lunch Wednesday! PERFECTLY seasoned, and it was tender! Hubby's Prime Rib Premium choice Midwestern Angus prime rib, seasoned and slow roasted, accompanied by au jus and horseradish cream, served with potato du jour. 1/4th of that will be his lunch Wednesday. Today I called and gave them 20 minutes notice for a party of 15 when we arrived the tables were ready and glasses of water we're waiting it would have been great to dine outside but understandably a party this size with such short notice we were indoors but the view was still great. The service was fantastic and the setting is always great. Last time I was here I had the fish and chips and they were not up to par this time it was fantastic I also polled the others in the group their items ordered off the menu were varied but I had excellent reviews from everyone; even with the size of our group The Wait for food was acceptable so I happily write this is a five-star experience. read more

In a nutshell, delicious and fantastic service! We were in town for a few days, and this restaurant was recommended to us. We made a reservation, and arrived a few minutes early. We were seated right away, the wait staff was amazing, and the food.... yum. I had the half caesar salad. The dressing warm and very tasty, unlike most caesar dressings. Beautiful location, excellent views of the beach. A little disappointed that the menu was short. We came around 3 between Lunch Menu and Dinner Menu, the Lounge Menu. But happy that two of the items I wanted to try were available. The crawfish corn chowder was hot and just enough spice to remind me of New Orleans. I can't say enough good things about Trinity we have been coming here for years several weekend every summer to get out of Spokane and it never disappoints. The ambience, view of the water, food, value and service wonderful. We love the calamari and the barbecued Caesar salad... and the blackened chicken and the apple/pear and brie salad especially. To the one review were below that had a less than ideal experience I say it MUST be an anomaly-- We have been coming here so much that we certainly would've experienced that at least once if it had been possible.. so please please try again. read more

A Gem On The Water My wife and I were told that we had to visit Sandpoint if we were anywhere in the area. We were told it had a cute little downtown, quaint shops and a Farmer's Market on Saturday. We enjoyed a walk around town and then started looking for a place for lunch. Thankfully, she saw the arched entry to the City Beach area and insisted we go check it out. We saw the Trinity restaurant , the beautiful back deck and the setting right on the water, with snow-capped mountains in the background. We grabbed a table and began perusing the menu, which had some interested options. Our outstanding and entertaining waiter, Matt, guided us through some suggestions and when our food arrived, it was outstanding. My wife had the pecan salad and I had the oyster po boy sandwich. Both were incredible. A gorgeous, sunny day right on the water, an incredible view, great food, a great waiter -- all made for a wonderful experience. Thanks, Trinity! read more

The food is terrific as are the servers..we've eaten here twice in as many nights as we are traveling--HOWEVER....we witnessed a worker going through the motions cleaning a table without any type of disinfectant ..and wiping only one of four seats. One of our utensils was filthy. It's making us reconsider eating here again based on the lack of cleanliness , especially in these Covid times of ours. read more

We live in Rathdrum and travel to Sandpoint often with out of town friends. Trinity is the premier restaurant with the most spectacular view. Our party of 4 on Monday, included a hungry vegetarian and a disabled person. Piper our server, seated us at the closest table and made sure we never waited for anything!! A pizza, 7 root burger, thick slice prime rib sand. ( 1 inch thick!) and the thickest club sandwich since my Grandma's farm. The most enjoyable lunch we have experienced this year!! Do yourself a favor and go now, don't wait till summer and fight tourists for what is your table and time to be treated like a VIP in Sandpoint!! Enjoy the restaurant!! read more

Great view if you sit outside. I wasn't a huge fan of their food but I was also just newly pregnant and couldn't keep a thing down sooo... their bread and butter was great from what I can remember! Oh Trinity. People recommend this place and I would just because of the view! Sandpoint and Lake Pend Orielle are absolutely amazing and beautiful. But I was bummed that the nacho appetizer was not great. We didn't go in for dinner but stopped because we had heard great things and because we knew we could enjoy the view Unfortunately, the meat was chewy, of what was there but truth there want much meat at all, (and I imagine it is the same meat they use for the enchiladas that get great reviews), we had to order sour cream, jalapeños and avocado on the side, and when we asked for more salsa we never received it. So, Im sorry Trinity but if you are going to serve nachos, please do it right. Add the fixens, the olives, the tomatoes, the onion, the jalapeños and the sour cream. I know that you aren't a mexican restaurant, but I also know Im not mexican and I would still put more on my nachos than you did. I will try this place again and hope for better. read more
