This place just feels like summer ! Our family has been coming up to Trinity Lake for almost 50 years and we always look forward to making our first stop at the Trinity Alps Marina. It is a friendly family run business. We come for ice cream, ice and gas runs and anything else fun we find in the store. They are so gracious and love that they are dog friendly too. We rented a house boat from them and drove it for 15 minutes before it stopped functioning. The employee they sent to tow us to shore told us it was not our fault. They left us overnight with no generator/power loosely tied to shore and then brought us a new boat in the morning. When we returned the new boat, I asked for a receipt, which they did not provide. They took our entire deposit $800 with no substantiation, and they are lying about how they found the boat. These people are fraudulent as others have described. Absolutely horrific!!!! From the moment we got there. 2 women working there driving a golf cart were rude and not helpful! And obviously on meth due to the teeth missing and or black! The boats themselves are extremely old,dirty and not maintained. A constant smell of gas and or propane the entire time! 3 days of hell! The toilets smelled like an outhouse that you are stuck smelling! The boat kept stalling too many times to count! This is some backwoods weird shit !!! We rented a houseboat for 4 days. The bathrooms stunk so bad, it smelled like a park restroom. The people are so nice and the prices are very good. The houseboat was very old and not maintained very well. I feel bad giving this family owned business a bad review but I feel the need to warn people about the poor condition of the houseboats. If they remodeled the toilets and completed maintenance repairs I would change my mind. The lake is amazing so I highly recommend the location. read more

My Family and friends have been coming to this Marina since I was a kid. The memories and summer fun are etched into my mind. All year we would look forward to our June vacation that would start at Trinity Alps Marina. I remember Marilyn giving the kids ice cream on a beautifully perfect summer day, I remember thinking summer was not complete until the moment I was standing on a floating dock in the sun kissed by trinity lake water and thinking it was the perfect place in the world, ice cream melting down my chin. I know sounds corny, but nothing has changed. Those days are 50 years gone by now but there isn't a moment I don't think about my arrival every June. We are always given a Service Ready boat with a cold fridge, comfortable beds and a familiar nostalgic vibe. Sure its usually the same boat we have been using year after year but it always feels new to me and my family and guests. Sure you could go to the other marina and rent a newer bigger ship, your going to pay 200.00 to 300.00 more per day, use a ton more gas and you know what else, there wont be sunny family happy moments etched into you memory about a happy sun bleached kid eating ice cream on a dock feeling like hes in Disneyland and life dosn't get anymore perfect. read more

Don't do it. Staff is nice, but houseboat was so old, lots of broken items and we had to be towed in, which ended our birthday vacation early. It was about 40 years old, and not the charming kind of old. We believe that the flooring, curtains and cushions are original. The curtains do not show any signs of ever being washed , nor did the floor. The door mats appear to never had been lifted for cleaning, grime holds them in place. There were several flooring spots on the front deck that instead of replacing the clearly spongy sections, there were industrial mats placed over them so that you wouldn't step though it. The cushions are cracked with foam exposed, oven/range and bbq knobs haven't any more markings on them, so you don't know which way to turn until things start either burning or aren't cooking. There are small things like broken bbq tongs and broken bbq lid that are not a big deal, but indicative of the care and quality of the vessel that you are still paying a lot of money for. The front slider doesn't have a screen, so you can't get a breeze to go through the cabin without bugs coming in. When we were checking the boat out on the first day, we asked if they were handling the cleanup of the boat differently due to CoVid, and the reply was "No, we only have two cases in the county." When we originally checked out the boat, the engine wouldn't start, but after some tinkering the staff got it started. When my husband mentioned that the engine didn't sound right, the staff agreed, but the lady inside said it always sounded like that. But nope, day three, we were stranded with a broken starter and had to be towed in. Even though there is a generator to run the plugs, it is not hooked up to the batteries, so you have to run the motor to turn on the water, use the restroom and lights. The batteries don't hold a charge, so if someone needs to turn on a light or go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, the engine needs to be turned on. Disappointed that we had to sanitize the place ourselves before we even felt remotely comfortable using the surfaces and that our birthday vacation was cut short and we had to find alternative housing for the evening. read more

Rented a houseboat and a patio boat with my girlfriend's entire extended family for a long week on the lake. Both craft were very clean and well maintained. No mechanical problems at all. The galley facilities worked great and had plenty of room. Likewise with the bathroom facilities. All 20 some-odd of us were able to just enjoy our vacation and not have to worry about the boat. Some of my fondest vacation memories are house boating on Trinity Lake. Marilyn and Darrel welcome us every year and treat us great! They have invested in the docs, the store, the gas station; you can even get gas after hours. The pricing is fair and the memories are priceless! I honestly can't believe this place is even open for business. In my opinion they are running a scam and just trying to get their heads above water. We rented a house boat in June 2017 and it would not run properly, almost blew up, broke down, no AC, could not run anything without it overloading and shutting down. When we tried to get it across the lake to return it, it shut down, we had to dock it on a bank and they would not refund my deposit even though we cleaned it from top to bottom (even better when we first received it). I had to fight them tooth and nail to get my deposit back (after numerous calls and they were hanging up the phone on me "who does that?!?!") Additionally, they tried to charge me for extra gas and I had to threaten them with all the receipts we kept to get the charges removed. If we did not have additional boats in our party to get around the lake and positive attitudes, our vacation would have been completely ruined. These boats are old, run down and NOT maintained, plus the employees running the place are total liars, crooks and completely unethical. They could care less about ruining your time and taking all your money. Trust the bad reviews with these losers....DO NOT USE THEM!!!! If yelp allowed for negative stars, I would give them zero or less. Just HORRIBLE!!! read more

We just wanted a party boat for the day, we get to the middle of the lake and it breaks down, the rescue boat coming to save us breaks down, finally my uncle comes out in his ski boat to get our family off the boat and back to camp my grandfather and my uncle sit out there for hours and hours finally get towed back to find out they are closed For the night so they return in the morning for their money back from the deposit and maybe a discount because we got a broken boat all day, nope turns out they take the deposit and want us to pay more because we got back too late( mind you we left in the morning it broke down in the morning and we didn't get help until late and finally they got towed back at 8pm) what a joke never ever go here read more

Do NOT rent boats here. Boats break down and then they charge you extra for coming to get you! Really? Waited for hours to get rescued, and because their boat broke down on the way to assist us, they charged us for that too! And after all that, they are rude and unprofessional. Worst experience I have ever had houseboating. I have previously rented from other outfitters and have NEVER experienced this kind of poor service. The boat was old and they attempted to let us go out on the lake with many broken necessities. They got upset when we asked to have these fixed even though we were paying lots of money for a functional houseboat. The motor went out on us on our 2nd day and we were given no radio, so it was incredibly difficult to reach anybody to help us while we were stranded on the lake with very spotty cell service. The owner finally arrived after several hours to fix it and refused to wear the disposable mask we were willing to provide. We explained to him that COVID cases are on the rise in California and we had high risk people on the boat. Despite our pleas, he once again refused to wear a mask and his only reasoning was (and I quote) "I do not wear masks, end of discussion". I don't care if this is his "political" standpoint, it is a health issue that 160,000 Americans have died from. The disrespect for our lives and wellbeing, between the disregard for Coronavirus and for the functionality of the houseboats, was both shocking and disturbing. We were forced to end our trip three days early and to check into a hotel in Redding last minute. At the front desk, the employee told us that the people from this marina are "from a different breed" and that no one should ever bring their business here. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. We used them to rent a house boat for our family vacation. Our first house boat experience and the entire trip was nothing but one boat fail after another. They did not pump the toilets before we received the boat and was told that it was probably a squatter that was living on it??? They did a pump and gave us some air fresheners. They also were kind enough to give us a lightbulb for the bathroom which we were advised we had to replace our selfs. We left the marina to take the boat back out and within 5 hours the pump for the fresh water went out and the lake water. Not only did it go out a hose from under the sink busted and soles 1/2 of our stuff that was on the floors. We ended up returning the boat a day early and we were told that the boat wasn't broken when we got it. They were rude and have not one ounce of customer service. My Dad even keeps his other boat at their docks and is a regular and they still treated all of us like garbage. All and all an awful experience! The boat issues wasn't really the problem we are pretty understanding people. It was the way they treated it during the entire process. I reserved a ski boat for the week of July 4th. The original agreement was to pick-up and drop-off the boat each day and drive our RV back to our lake-side camp each day. I had never been to Trinity Lake before. A few days later the owner called me and said we could keep the boat at our camp and not drop-off and pick-up each day. I was very happy they offered that and took them up on their offer. After I arrived I was even more appreciative, as our camp was close by water, but quite far by car - THANK YOU for making our first ever trip to Trinity Lake a great one - great job!! read more

Do not rent from this place. They ripped me off for 500 due to employee negligence. I had an employee call me over near the shore so that we could load some supplies. He called us over too close to the shore and cause the prop to become stuck and broke a piece off. The owner didn't care that his employee waved us over. My family was a customer at Cedarstock marina for mooring and rental for a while, and the service was cold, rude and lack luster. This year we decided to try out Trinity Alps Marina, and we are NEVER going back. The marina may seem a little shotty, but it has the best configuration for loading and unloading the car as well as the best parking lots I have seen on Trinity Lake. If I could give zero stars, I would. This place was a shitshow. The owners were rude and did not believe in customer service. They rented us a boat with a broken starter and generator, and by the third day, we were stranded in the lake with a dead battery and without a working motor. One of the employees was demonstrating how the engine worked, and the starter was barely working at check out, yet they still tried to charge us. They tried to send us out without a radio, and we pushed for a handheld radio given that we did not have cell service. Had it been their choice, we would have been stranded out there for a week before someone found us. Furthermore, they are selling confederate flags in the gift shop for the exorbitant price of $9.99. Everywhere else I try to get my confederate flags, they are $5.99. I believe that small businesses should be able to choose how to price their items, but this was insane. I have rented from several other outfitters before and never had an experience like this anywhere else. Take your hard earned money elsewhere and don't support these scammers! These people tried to steal my money and make me pay for things I did not owe, and did not give a crap about my safety and wellbeing. Worst family get-away ever-- DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! read more

Rented a patio boat for the day. The boat ran great and the people were polite and very accommodating.

We had a fantastic day on our party barge, until we tried to start it to go back to the dock. Boat wouldn't start, our onboard mechanics couldn't get it to start. 6 hours later they arrived to tow us and then had the balls to tell us we broke the boat and had to pay for towing, gas, etc. they had to change the battery and re-prime engine to get it to start!! If you want a broken down boat that you have to pay for when it does on you, have fun!! First time at this rental place on the Trinity in 25 years, definitely our last!! Ok So I will try to be fair when yelping this Marina, but overall it was not even close to being satisfied with my experience here. First, I came to rent a small patio boat on a Sunday afternoon after it had been recommended to me by a guy at the campsite I was staying at a couple of miles down the road. Next, we had arrived at 145pm, first thing they told us was that they closed at 430pm (it doesn't get dark there until 815pm). Why would they close that early on a popular summer night at 430pm??? Then they charge us FULL DAY Price $165...Wait What??? That does not make sense to me in the least. Absolutely, no prorated hourly rate in sight. Also, we had only 4 people in our group, they only had patio boats for 10-12 people. They had no variety in boats. The guy who was assigned to give us a quick tutorial was very helpful, but I had to rush him through everything because we were now paying $165 for ONLY 2.5 hours, which is a complete rip-off. Never ever again. Lake Lewiston is a better bet with stunning views! read more

This is not a 1 star, this is a 0 star. I grew up on this lake renting from Fairview Marina and have never been more disgusted by the way I was treated. I tried to cancel due to a massive forest fire that was declared a state of emergency and created zero visibility in the air and when I called to cancel the woman who claimed to be the manager was the most unprofessional customer service agent I have ever come in contact with. She hung up on me multiple times and called me a b**** for trying to cancel due to health concerns. They specifically told me when I made the reservation that my card would not be charged and they did not inform me of any cancellation policy and it is not listed on their website. I am so sad to be writing this review but I sincerely hope no one tries to rent from this marina. They charged me $350 and I never touched the boat. I hope that Fairview is restored to their former glory and go back to caring about their customers and the community. read more

She was swearing and making false accusations withholding our deposit. Alan had already given us the green light on check out. We further tried to discuss getting our well deserved deposit back and she hung up on us. We asked to speak to Alan and she refused. Trinity Alps Marina Houseboat Rentals....WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! Ten of us had been anxiously waiting for our summer vacation to be spent on a houseboat we reserved @ Trinity Alps Marina. Long story-short...we spent 50% of our time without electricity, running water or working toilets. Not to mention that they had forgotten to empty the toilet tanks from the previous guests when we initially picked up the boat (peeyooou!). In the end (which is exactly where we got it!), the only compensation we were given were 10 bags of ice which we used to try to salvage the $600 dollars worth of groceries we had purchased for the trip. We even used our own bottled drinking water to try to clean up their boat before returning it. Trinity Lake & County is a beautiful place to visit, however the operators of Trinity Alps Resort, in my opinion, robbed us of $2500 of our hard earned money. Guess that is what happens when you pay up front for a poorly maintained piece of junk. (I gave them 1 star for location and a couple of key employees that actually made an attempt at customer service. You guys know who you are. Thank you.) read more
