Very good wine but $$$20 for tasting flight and fairly small pours. Saw on their website that we should have received the Trinitas etched wine glasses as a parting gift... Kinda disappointing that we walked out empty handed other than a $50 bottle of 2007 Cab and paid another $40 for our tasting. And I was disappointed by the line on the bill for a tip. Seemed to me a bit cheesy and highfalutin. read more

Trinitas Cellars was founded in 2002 and is located in the Meritage Resort complex in Napa. The tasting room is in a cave underneath the famous Napa Wine Press statue that can be seen when coming toward Napa on Highway 12. Some of their fruit is from their own vineyards and some is sourced. Service was very friendly at Trinitas. Our server was knowledgeable, polite and down to earth. I wish more wineries realized how important customer service is to the overall tasting experience at a winery. There is a $10 tasting fee but it is applicable toward your wine purchase and wine prices are very reasonable. We began our tasting with the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc at $22. This had one of the best aromas of any Sauvignon Blanc I've encountered recently and was just like smelling a fresh Meyer's lemon. Comparing wines to fruits is approximate in most instances but this really did have the aroma of a Meyer's. This SB is from Pope Valley and had some Muscato added. It was lemon rather than the usual grapefruit on the palate, with a longer finish than most SBs. Their Chardonnay had full malolactic conversion, so I passed on tasting it and went next to the 2009 Pinot Noir at $36. This again had a very good nose. I got plum and some smoke on the palate. It was very drinkable. We then proceeded to the 2008 Meritage at $55, the favorite wine for both of us. This is from Oak Knoll and is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with some Cabernet Fanc, Merlot and Malbec added. It had well balanced bright red fruit on the palate and a good finish. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon at $50 was fairly good. The nose was very light and I got plum on the palate with some smoke. This was followed by the 2009 Old Vine Petite Sirah at $25. PS is one of my favorite varietals, but this one had residual sugar. I have tasted late harvest desert Petite Sirahs which I've enjoyed but this one fell in between a normal PS and a desert one. I didn't care for the style but my friend did. Tasting is subjective, especially regarding preferences in style. This one is perhaps a Petite Sirah for those who usually don't like Petite Sirahs or who want a fruity and rather sweet red wine. It is much softer, sweeter and fruitier than most PS. Overall, the wines at Trinitas were decent wines for the price, with the 2008 Meritage being the standout. read more

I'm fairly new to wine so it can feel a bit intimidating when you don't know where to start. Luckily for us, we were helped by Tony who made the experience very warm and personalized. We tasted a variety of wines and Tony talked us through each one. He even taught us how to smell/taste the wine so we can experience the subtleties in each one. It was honestly such a treat! The wine was great but if you can't take a newbie's word for it, there were tons of returning customers there with us. The whole staff, as well as the other visitors, were friendly and bright. I came to Trinitas and had the wine and chocolate pairing (4 each) for $25. The chocolate was made by Kollar Chocolate and it was deeeeeelicious! Went very well with the wine. Must stop by Annette's chocolatiers to pick up some chocolates to accompany the Sauvignon and Chardonnay we bought. Chloe was excellent; very friendly and informative. SURPRISING! I didn't expect much from this winery at The Meritage Resort based on how new it is, but what a gem it turned out to be. They're doing the right thing by limiting their production to just a few different wines to perfect and establish their brand. It's working. You must try the Mysterium. It is a wonderful blend of grapes that you just don't see very much: Carignane, Alicante Bouschet, Black Malvoise, plus Zin, Mouvedre, and Old Vine Petit Sirah...ALL in one wine. Of 5 wines (not having had any other wine today) 3 from different red varietals tasted very much the same (overly manipulated: the Malbec tasted like Zinfandel and so did the Mourvèdre). I was stunned to be asked to provide an optional gratuity (starting at 15%) for pouring 5 sips at $20 plus tax. I don't recommend this if you have a decent palate. read more

I had a very nice time tasting and the young man took care to find wines to fit the tastes of both my wife and me. These are not world class wines but they are pretty good and reasonably priced. One of the few vineyards opened after the Wildfires in mid October 2017. The Wife and I drove from San Francisco, about an hour and 20 minutes, and were pleasantly surprised. Had my first visit to Napa and after going to several wineries during the day, Trinitas Cellars topped the list! I had an enjoyable tasting experience that was unlike any of the others. As other reviews have mentioned, the tasting is in a cave that has a cordial and welcoming feel to it. A wonderful ambience for wine tasting. The staff was very friendly, responsive, and you could tell they were truly passionate about their wines! While I enjoyed all the wines, the 2011 Chardonnay was great. As a Napa first timer Trinitas Cellars was an excellent stop for my wine tasting experience. The grounds are beautifully surrounded by the Meritage Resort and Spa as well as sprawling grape vines. The unique cave tasting room was a fun setting for tasting with my friends, providing a peaceful, serene and cozy atmosphere. The staff only added to the inviting atmosphere with exceptional attentiveness to each and every person in the tasting room with friendly demenors and excellent knowledge of the wines. The wines only matched the excellence provided by the grounds and staff. My favorites were the 2011 Chardonnay and the Mysterium but everyone I tasted was throughouly enjoyable! Was not impressed. The cave was cool, but the tasting was rushed. Wine was meh and very pricey. I'm used to Napa prices but this felt a little more like a tourist trap. Not bad but not great. Trinitas has some really wonderful wines. Both my wife and I love reds and we love every one they have from their Pinot to their Cab. The Meritage and Old Vine Zins are particularly good. This is the only winery at which we have ever bought a wine club membership. They offer free tasting to wine club members and the wines are reasonably priced compared to the other vastly overpriced wineries in the area. read more

This was the second winery we stopped at when we were visiting Napa. The first one was pretty disappointing, but Trinitas blew us away. Located at the beautiful Meritage resort, the location is just so beautiful. You walk in through the lobby of the hotel and by the pool outside to end up in a cave right below their vineyards. Just an amazing setting! It's a great price for the tasting and our server was generous and let us try 1-2 other wines that we did not pick. She basically timed everything perfectly because she was the only one working while there were quite a few groups of us there for the tasting. We waited a few times, but the extra tastings helped to keep us occupied. I forget her name, but she was very knowledgeable. After the tasting, we took a stroll upstairs to check out the vineyards. There is a great view of Napa and also a little area where they have weddings. You can also see little bunnies roaming around all over the vineyard. Definitely check out Trinitas if you start out in the Downtown Napa area. read more

This is the best tour we had in Napa! We went to many wineries and hands down Trinitas Cellars with tour guide Matthew was the best. Matthew gave us an amazing tour through the vineyard, and he was able to answer any questions we had. He was very knowledgable and our bachelorette party learned so much from him.
