TLDR; they shaved my Aussie and it took almost 5 hours. Will not be coming back. I am never the type of person to leave bad reviews, but I am so upset by the service I got at this groomer. For context, I have an Australian shepherd and she is very nervous in chaotic environments. So I've been trying to find a place that works for her and is more calm than the little dog house in Goleta. (Little Dog House does a great job groomer her, it is just the environment that stresses her out) Unfortunately, this place failed miserably. I made an appointment for 11:30am. When I dropped her off, I specifically asked for a SCISSOR CUT all over. The groomer commented on cutting a dog with a double coat and told me her hair would still be about 2 inches long. I understood and I very clearly said not to shave her, just an all over scissor cut and sanitary clean up. I don't think the groomer was listening to me or simply didn't care. I waited until 3:00 to call and check on her, almost 4 hours later. They told me it would be another 30-35 minutes... no call all day to let me know why it was taking so long, no update, nothing. I wouldn't have left her there that long if I'd known it was going to be almost 5 hours. Again, she hates chaotic environments, especially with other dogs around. I arrived at 3:45 and she was still on the table being groomed!! She must have been the last dog of the day. And not only that, they were shaving her with clippers. I was obviously very pissed. The receptionist told me that there was an emergency earlier in the day and it caused them to be off schedule because their only groomer had to leave for part of the day. I tried to be respectful and just waited until she was done so I could leave. Normally I wouldn't have cared & would've just left it alone. But the fact that they were shaving my dog when I specifically asked them not to was a tipping point for me. Not only that, but her cut looks horrible. They clearly shaved her all over because the cut is choppy and very short at the top. They also didn't even trim around her ears. There are mixed opinions about shaving double coated dogs, and I know she wasn't shaved to the skin, but I specifically asked for a scissor cut because I don't want to mess up her undercoat. That was what I asked for. If they couldn't give her an all over scissor cut, they should have just told me. And to be clear, it is only the groomer I have a gripe with. The receptionist was always nice and respectful and was apologetic when I called later. However, she told me that the groomer did give her a scissor cut, but had to switch to clippers because my dog wasn't being cooperative. And just based on how her fur looks, I'm sure this is a lie. They offered for me to bring her back to fix it, but I just wanted a refund because I didn't get what I asked for. The groomer refused to speak to me herself but told the receptionist to tell me they can't refund me. Needless to say, I won't be bringing my dog back and I'll be praying all summer that her coat grows back normally and she doesn't get any sunburns. Their staff is always friendly and super good with the fur babies. A scheduling error on my part and they were still able to accommodate two golden retriever groomings. 10/10 I have done every dog groomer in Santa Barbara since moving. I have a shitzu mix and short face breeds can be really trick. Honestly small dogs are just hard to groom very wiggly and problematic. I took my dog Molly here for the first time and it's the best cut she's gotten in Santa Barbara! She looks so smooth and like a teddy bear. For Santa Barbara prices this place is a steal and the quality is wonderful. I've paid more for worse cuts all over Santa Barbara. I won't be taking my dog back there. Joanna is not there. I guess maybe she's sold the shop anyway don't bother calling. You probably won't get a call back. If i could give this place a zero i would - i was so disappointed when finding out they would t give my 3 years Lab and pit mix a bath because she was part PITBULL. My dog is one of the most sweetest dogs anyone can ever meet - when you look at her you really don't see much of the out unless she raises her ears. The fact this place won't see pit bulls is beyond me . And not to mention the rude receptionist when i called . Pitbull an are some of the most kindest breed out there . They might have a bad name but that doesn't mean all pitbull are bad . This place is just horrible and only live to the standards of helping mini poodles that can be way more aggressive than a pitbull. read more

I'm giving 1 star because the woman that bathes the dogs is a sweetheart and the receptionist is just doing her job. Unfortunately, the only groomer there right now I could not recommend at all. I'm pretty sure she hates her job. She acts like she is doing you a favor by being there. I dropped off my pup and explained that his legs had started matting but everywhere else was in good shape. I also explained that it was more important to me that he wasn't stressed so pls do what was necessary to keep him calm. (Little did I know that meant his whole body would get shaved) When I called to check on him and get an ETA I was told that he was very matted (??) I knew his legs were but not the rest of his body. She said I would be called when he was finished. I explained that I was trying to gauge whether I should stay in the area or drive back home. Once again, I was told I would be notified when he was ready. I chose to drive home. 15min later there was a missed call from a number I did not recognize. (I have Trimnasium's number in my contact list). He was ready to be picked up. Why could they not tell me that he was almost ready when I just had called. ??!! When I picked him up.. I was told that I needed to bring him in sooner or they could not take him anymore due to his matting. That was an easy decision... especially after the call and seeing my pup. I will never return there. What an awful experience when all it takes is a little kindness and courtesy towards people and valuing their time and business. By the way, he was shaved, leg was nicked as well as near his privates. It was never mentioned but I had to look when he would not stop licking the areas. I am not one to leave a negative review but this experience was one that I thought other dog owners should be aware of in case they are considering going to this business. read more

I took my 2 morkies here and gave specific instructions, particularly for my little girl. They included, "give them a puppy cut and for the little girl, trim her pony tail and you may put one or two bows back in her hair. I'm ok with either!" I return an hour and 15 minutes later (seemed rather quick to groom 2 dogs) to find my little boy's face trimmed completely uneven and my little girl's pony tail CUT OFF!! She claimed it was too knotted to comb out which I disagreed because I comb her pony tails out weekly. I told her if she felt she needed to cut off her pony tail then she should have called me first. It takes my baby, who now doesn't even resemble a morkie, over 6 months to grow that little pony tail back so it's long enough to put a bow in it!!! She claimed she didn't hear me say anything about the pony tails. I claim she doesn't listen and was rushing to get done for the day, taking NO time to do a good job or attempt to listen to her clients. I was charged extra for a couple small knots on the dog but not compensated for making my dogs look as if they were homeless street dogs. I'd NEVER send another dog there again. Great Grooming, Hidden Fees, Backed up Easily 1) I would rate the quality of the grooming 4.8/5 stars. I get a basic grooming and its consistent. 2) Check your fees before paying because twice now they have included extra fees with out notifying me before swiping my card. (I asked them why and they had no reasoning) 3) If you are a time sensitive person this may not be your best option because they have quite a few more dogs than grooming tables. Be prepared to have your appointment skipped, told to come back later, etc. I kept going for the quality cut and supporting local businesses but ultimately stopped for the inconveniences. read more

Dropped off my 3 lbs Yorkie with two perfect little ears and picked him up with his ear missing a chunk I was told he had a small little cut, however once I was home and upon further inspection, I saw there was a chunk of his ear missing. Do not waste your money or time here. The first time I took my dog here I asked for a "little trim" for my 4 month old puppy, to which Joanne replied "I don't know what a trim is, it's all the same to me," very rudely. I tried to explain that I just wanted a little hair cut off as she is very small and young. They said they would give me a discount because she was only 4 pounds. When I picked her up she was shaved to the skin, she look traumatized and wouldn't stop shaking for hours. They also charged me full price. A couple of months later I decided I might come back and give it another shot, big mistake. This time I came in and explained that my dog had some matting due to being with a a caretaker for a week, and I forgot to ask the care taker to brush her hair. I come back to pick up my dog and Joanne yells at me and shames me for my dog having horrible matts, mind you my dog is 8 pounds. She acted like it was the end of the world and that she was doing me a favor for even considering cutting my dogs hair. She charged me $20 extra without communicating in advance, and she said I had to bring her back every month. I felt absolutely horrible after this interaction, I drove home and cried. I later talked to a friend who used to be a groomer, she said that yes matting is frustrating but its not worth screaming at a dog owner over. Please I urge you not to waste your time and money here, everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect. read more

I booked my appointment 3 weeks prior to the day. When I showed up, the lady didn't want to take my dog because he was wearing a sweater and she said that she was not taking new customers. I told her that I booked the appointment 3 weeks before and my dog was wearing a sweater because we are in winter and because it's raining and cold. The lady asked rudely if I was going to bring my dog every month and I told her everything depends on the service she gives my dog and if she continues giving me that attitude. Also, I told her I was willing to pay extra because the holidays were coming. I left my dog there and when I was walking out the place, I noticed how rudely they treat the dogs. The ladies were screaming at the dogs and asking them to shut up. So I came back and took my dog. Those ladies are really rude. I believe they are losing customers by their attitude. I really tried to give this place a shot but each time it went from bad to horrible. If your dog is small (toy size) then you may be ok as that is all that this place wants. No medium sized dogs, no big dogs, no dogs with long fur, no dogs with hair coat. It is essentially a non stop complaining session from the owner about types of dogs and owners who have these dogs. I thought that she was being nice when she took my dog (after a thorough inspection and quizzing session) to be "serviced" by them. I left my dog thinking it was really odd but maybe it was a good thing. NOOOO, it was a bad thing and each time they did something I asked them not to do! My last straw was with my request to not cut my dogs hair as I wanted to grow it out. When I came to get my dog they had cut hair around the head, ears and face cause the owner thought it looked better that way. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

Joanne snd company are happy to groom and care for most kinds of dogs. They are not set up for all breeds, a minor complication due to the owner's bad shoulder and so forth. But she does an excellent job on cut and clean and in styling. It is not open every day, but hours are posted. Appointment only I believe. read more

Pretty good cut...but a really annoying experience. We took our dog to Trimnasium 4-5 times, and finally decided enough was enough and found another groomer. Here's my issue: I'm PAYING someone to cut my dog's hair. Yet, every time I brought him in, I left feeling like I'd failed an exam and I'd done them a favor for allowing them to service my needs. EVERY TIME. I get isolated incidents and would never leave a bad review based solely on one experience. The condescending tone taken by Joanne in criticizing my dog brushing at home, or length of time between visits...everything to basically say "You need to work harder at home so I don't have to work so hard at my job". She'd tell me to come back sooner next time, so I'd set an appointment exactly when she wanted my dog back in, and then she'd criticize me for not coming back soon enough. Aside from grooming my own dog and just bringing him by to say hello and paying her for not criticizing me, I'm not sure there was ever going to be a visit where she didn't make some underhanded comment about how poorly brushed my dog was...and his hair is short! So, I'm the customer, right? She's a service provider, right? It seems unbelievable to me that she maintains a steady stream of customers if she treats them all with the same condescending attitude I experienced all 4-5 times, so perhaps she just didn't like me personally. To be fair, the grooming was better than average. Not worthy of 5 stars, but a solid 4 to be fair. So if you don't mind giving your hard-earned dollars to someone who doesn't understand customer service and who's likely to treat you like an unwanted inconvenience, then you'll be just fine and your dog will get a good cut. As for me, like I said earlier, I'd had enough of feeling bad about my myself every time I left, so I found another groomer who is lovely, charges less, who loves my dog and treats me with respect and appreciates my business. read more

I'm pretty saddened by the fact this establishment discriminates against specific breeds. My dog is extremely friendly and loves people. *PLEASE READ* I took my dog here for the first time, I have a long haired mixed breed. From the moment we got there my dog did not like this place, he was trying to get away from both ladies that were working there. I thought, he's just acting this way because it's his first time. But on the drive home I remembered he never acted this way at a vets office or other grooming places. He had a bath and hair cut keep in mind he's a large dog in other places they usually take about 2-3 hrs for the same service. They called me in an hour and said he was ready. When I arrived they did trim him and bathe him but his hair was messed up! I'm not exaggerating it seemed like a 3 year old cut around his ears. His hair was uneven. I could have done a better job. As a local resident in Goleta area , I feel like we don't have a lot of dog grooming salons established here , especially in Old Town or Calle Real area. We do have one little dog house but I personally don't like to take my dog there. When I realize there is a new grooming place in town , I am pretty happy to see that. Joanne ( not sure if this is how you spell it ) is really easy to talk to, her rate is reasonable and this place is very bright and clean . You can basically see what the groomers are doing. Same day appointments are easy to make. The only tiny thing that bothers me is that when you call, you always or they always have a hard time hearing you, probably because of the sound of the dryer. Anyways , I think this place is quite nice and it provides an alternative option aside from LDH. read more
