This used to be my go to spot for years but the owner (the woman) is a vile human. I would never give my business to this place again despite years of being a patron. The last time I went I parked in the back WHICH IS POSTED TO BE FOR CUSTOMERS and in the time it took me look around & walk around (because you can't go in through the back so you have to go all the way around the block) she took it upon herself to block my car with hers and not let me go for more than an hour until I called the cops because that's technically kidnapping. It ended in her stating that "I took too long & didn't spend enough" mind you I was shopping at her store for more than an hour & spent $100. I didn't go to any other business. The worker was ashamed and apologized over and over for the owners actions. If the parking isn't for customers they should have signs posted stating otherwise. Disgusting woman and disgusting business practices it's a shame because their worker is so helpful but I will never go back there beware and take your business elsewhere. read more

I've been go to this store since 2020 (covid19), owners are somewhat polite and that's okay; but this morning I went and bought some more trims since I was there yesterday how, the owner wasn't there so there was a guy in charge of the register...he literally gave me my change and wa away without bagging my items and the other worker that injured with crutches said nothing until I mentioned the bag; it is unfortunate that the owners weren't there and they felt entitled to treat me as if I was begging or asking for free or a charity. I hope this is read by the ownera Bijan and Soraya and train their employees to be more respectful and courteous with their customers. read more

The best bridal selection for laces hands down!! I've searched everywhere for a fancy ivory lace for my wedding dress. And all the other stores had one or two in that color but were all basic laces. They had so many different types of fancier laces. And also, the staff is very helpful and friendly. I showed them a swatch of my dress and were able to assist. Way nicer than the lace store next door (trim 2000...they seemed like they didn't even wanna help me). The only con is that they're not open on Saturdays and they don't exchange and do returns. I am sure this place is fun upon first finding it. But as someone who has been shopping here for a decade, I can say that things have changed. Ever since they hired this one particular lady. She is horrible. Really mean. The trim I always purchase was $1.50 a yd. It says that on the spool. One day tbis lady decided it was $2.50 despite it being clearly marked. This effects my overhead so I had to stop shopping there. Plus she was mean about it. Then out of nowhere they decided it was a $20 minimum to use your credit card. This is a violation of card agreements. The horrible lady told me I needed to "get some education". One time I asked her about buying stones and she said thry didnt carry them despite them being in front of my face. I hate this place now and its only because of her. Go somewhere else. I've made many many many trips to Fashion/Fabric district in downtown LA and this is one of my best finds! Overall, most of these stores in downtown LA carry the same items. Some stores have a few more selections. Some have nicer store owners. Some stores are organized a little bit. Trim Expo was one of my last stops and they had the most organized store, the largest selection, and the most helpful owner out of the shops I saw. On this particular trip, I was set on finding some sparkly, bejeweled trim to use as belts for bridesmaids dresses and I was happy to find the one I wanted at Trim Expo. And lastly, if you're never been to downtown LA and the wholesale/warehouse districts, here's your warning/tips: *it's super super crowded and every street looks the same - make sure to drop pins on a map to remember which stores you liked. Most of the time they have business cards as well. *parking can be tricky. It's all metered street parking or little parking garages. My suggestion is to park on a smaller side street (or else you'll get trapped by the millions of pedestrians) or park in the garages. *make sure to allot ample time to explore! My dressmaker recommended this shop and it did not disappoint. I needed something elegant but unusual for an event dress. The owner's wife was very helpful, pulling out yards of trim to help me get a vision of what it would look like (signs are posted saying do not pull out). As I had a fabric sample for the dress, she suggested we drape it on the dress form with the trim. That really helped me to get a good idea of how it looked. Today my friends and I were down in LA Fashion district to buy some fabric and trims for our cosplays. My friend had raved about how great this place is so we stopped in. We all found perfect trims that we needed and were excited to make our purchases. We did all have to wait around because the lady decided a private phone call was more important than business. Anyways, signs throughout the store read "Price is on Spool" and sure enough, they're on the right-hand side! Convenient! Until the lady decides to change their mind and overprice. A worker came over, verbally confirmed the price on the spool and cut the amount needed for my friend. My friend goes to check out and the lady behind the counter literally totals out my friend. My friend proceeds to pull out the amount she needed, but the employee who cut the trim decided to double check the price at the last minute, running to the back to talk to another guy. He comes back and says it's actually 2.50, when it's clearly written 1.50 on the spool. So the lady decided to recalculate the total to which my friend argues that its unfair. It was written and verbally confirmed that it was 1.50. The lady and the employee proceed to fight my friend when she declares is bad customer service to not honor the price we were told. At this point they're yelling when my friend is trying to explain why it's wrong. I went back to the spool and saw two different spools of the same item. One was 1.50, one was 2.00. Either way they were trying to overcharge her. My friend eventually gave in and handed them her money. The lady takes her money, puts it in the register, and then says "if you think we're so dishonest, then you can't have!" And yanks the items away and tosses them to the side. My friend demanded her $20 back and we left. So rude, so unprofessional! Save your money for places that actually respect their customers. read more

really liked this place until i went yesterday to buy some nylon cord and was accused of stealing a roll of cord, (WHEN I HAD NO BAG) was found at the store next door (which by the way has everything they have and they are actually incredibly sweet Trim 2000 will be getting all my business going forward.) He made me wait at the front of the store and refused to check the cameras because he was "too busy" but was not "too busy" to come wait for me in front of Trim 2000. I feel awful for the people that have to work for this rude man/ horrific experience over a $1.37 of nylon cord i can get anywhere in DTLA and to boot their store is dirty, disorganized and the customer service is just whatever even before this happened. This really was a disgusting thing to have to go through. so embarrassing. The guy that runs this place is rude and arrogant. Absolutely Disgusting. read more

Soo happy I found this place, I am pretty crafty and I've found it very hard to find a store that has some or any trim unless it's just all fabric and this store has all the trim you can ever think of, and the prices were amazing! The selection they have gave me even more inspiration for future projects. There were 2 male employees at the time of my visit. They were Very helpful and Very friendly. I can't wait to come up with more things to make. I plan to go back next weekend. I definitely recommend this place :) read more

I have always spoken highly of Trim Expo and I hate that I have to share this experience. Anyone who has been to this area knows how it works. You go in, find what you want, have an employee confirm the price, cut it and pay. So I pick my items and have them cut and the guy tells me the first one is $1.50/yard. Ok fine that's what the roll says too so awesome. I get up to the counter and the lady starts to ring me up. She tells me the total and I pull out my cash and the guy walks by and says he thinks he gave me the wrong price so he calls to a guy in the back to have him confirm. He comes back and says it's $2.50/yard so the lady starts to recalculate my total and I say wait a minute you already told me $1.50/yard so give me the price you said. So they all start fighting with me saying this happens all the time so I should just deal. I say no that's not how this works. Any other shop downtown would honor the price I was told. The first guy starts giving me a sob story about how his dad just died and the lady insists that I'm being ridiculous. My friend walks over to check the rolls and sees there are two rolls. One says $1.50 the other says $2 so we bring up that even if they're going to claim that the chord was put on the wrong roll then the other price should be correct and it isn't even $2.50. So she "graciously" agrees to give me $2/yard and I say fine I'll just pay it and leave. So I hand them my money and the lady tells me that if I'm going to call her dishonest that she won't sell to me and rips the items away. And I'm like ok fine whatever but give me my fucking money back cuz at this point she already has it in the register. She gives me the cash back and I leave with my friends. They follow us out of the store and insist that my friend come back and pay because she's had some items cut that she abandoned in solidarity to me. I never bluntly called the store dishonest but I'll do it now. These are terrible business practices, rude disrespectful customer service and greedy employees. Especially as an independent business you should treat your customers better, especially your regulars. I will never be back and I will be telling everyone I know this story. read more

This place is so rude and lack of customer service experience. I'm working for an evening wear company, and I often go to downtown LA to shop for trims and fabric when we working on sample. Today, I went there and i got two pins, I look and saw they put $4 out side the box where i got my pin, and when i got to the register, the lady told me $10 when she didn't even check the price. I said "how come it said $4.00 out side the box and now it's $5.00 each, she turned to her co-worker and said something in Spanish, then told me the price was wrong. Then with her moody sound and busy on the cashier machine. Then, i asked her very polite " May I have the receipt?". She started moody and told me " I don't give receipt when i don't have your money" and my $20 dollars is just right on the counter in front of her. She didn't even pay attention, and so moody. How can we do business with people like that ? Never complain that you don't get business when you don't even know how to do business. I will never come back to this store again. read more
