No vague generalizations here, but details about the current situation in my life that were frighteningly accurate (not in a bad way) After the cold reading, we expounded upon events that turned up in the cold reading as well as other questions she offered to answer in the cards. The best part of her reading is that she gives you spiritual direction based on what the cards reveal in the future. She took a snapshot of my life and helped me sort things out from business to relationships, friends, family and work. Another nice touch is that she emailed me a synopsis of her reading and advice -- which is especially nice because most people (including myself) forget these things. When I need a little insight into what is going on in my life I like to connect with people who have a little more insight than most. I found Liat on Yelp & decided to get a reading. She's immediately warm and disarming; she's got a lot of common sense wisdom as well as knowledge of the cards. First she did a cold reading, where she didn't know anything about me. Her reading was accurate from the get-go - she saw my recent past in my luv life and in my professional life. Then I shared with her how her reading aligned with my life. From there she gave me great advice & insight into what the cards meant for my future. It really helped me feel confident about a big decision that before I was uncertain about. Finally she did a reading with another set of cards to "confirm" what the first reading said. Two of the cards were exactly the same, and several of the other cards had very similar meanings. The rest offered new dimensions to the first reading. She followed up by emailing info about all the cards so I could easily revisit the reading. She is a very warm, friendly and caring, but I felt she didn't provide me with any insight. I felt like it was more a therapy session with her mostly asking questions about my personal life and trying to give me advice based on what i shared. I tried not to share too much hoping for more of a cold reading, but she kept asking questions. I'm not saying she was bad-maybe tarot is not for me. I'm more into astrology and this is my first paid tarot experience so it's difficult to compare. I can see why others would give her five stars. She really is such a warm caring person and i think she truly believes in her work. Maybe they had better experiences. This is my second reading with Liat since my first in June. The first was dead-on about what was going on at the present and what had recently transpired in the recent past. She completely nailed the people I was curious about--literally every aspect. It was uncanny. The second one, which occurred last week, was no different. I met Liat in a cafe downtown for a reading, and the experience left a deep impression on me for the rest of the year. Her cold reading was extremely insightful, and gave me additional insight on things / root casues I suspected about my life at the time, but were confirmed through the cards. Her answers to my questions, were useful and direct. The events in my life have unfolded in the last year, to an extent as per Liat's predictions, and its been really interesting to see various parts of the reading come true. One of the unique things about her reading is that Liat sends you a synopsis of the reading to keep, and I have found myself referring back to it a few times during the year. Firstly, know that she is a qualified psychotherapist of some kind. I felt that she was angling me into more of a shrink session than a reading. Cost ? $100 cash only for 60 mins. I have a secret crush and asked if anything would come of it... yes or no was what I was looking for ... instead she went off into this big lecture about her other clients/women (that means YOU!!) who have "pathetic imaginary relationships".... She spent a good deal of my reading either talking about HERSELF or trying to suck me into a shrink session. She is a psychotherapist by training, specialized in the drug addicted, has a family, loves to Skype, changes career every 7 years, explained to me how she negotiated her new career with her husband....and lots more. How do I know all this ? because that is how my $100 reading time was spent. I got very little out of this reading and left with a bad taste in my mouth and a negative feeling. She gave me the impression that she has memorized the meanings of the cards but is not psychic. she reads for you in a large public cafe and she is quite callous to any reservations you may have about having your reading done where everyone can listen in. And it is very obvious to anyone that you are having a reading as the tarot cards are all over your table. It is uncomfortable for you as a client and she is purposely oblivious (and probably doesnt care). She emails you a follow up to your reading -- but if you read her blog, you'll see she just cuts and pastes parts of her blog into your "followup". I recommend you try some other psychic for a reading. read more

While it's been almost 3 years since I met Liat for a tarot reading and I barely ever admitted that to any of my friends, I still have bitter ripped off feeling about the whole experience. Like many people here, I felt that Liat had no idea what she was talking about. I did not give her any information about myself (and why should I if she is indeed a psychic) so she was going in aimless rounds and rounds sounding like a helpline person. Paying $80 for a fake 15 minutes at a coffee shop reading is way too high. But again it makes sense how she can afford living in Tribeca. I hope people would read these reviews and not make the same mistake I did. read more

Met Liat last spring at a cafe in Tribeca. I was not comfortable as the entire place was empty, but a man sat at the table right next to ours and was by himself -hence listening to the entire conversation. She did not convey a feeling of knowing or even of understanding (about why I might not enjoy a total stranger less than one foot from my face hearing my deepest dreams). I found Liat to be a smart person, but that dosen't necessarily mean a talented one. Most of the "advice" she gave me was generic and could have worked on 90% of women in my position- it was a bunch of common sense and in my opinion not predictive or insightful specifically to my situation. I do still have the ripped-off feeling! I have been to many readings before I saw her, and I have to say this is one of the worst readings. I paid $140, that is too expensive for her amateur non-inspriting reading. she just ate my money talking about herself non-stop. (also she lowered the rate to 120? I guess all these negative honest reviews striked her business) I would rather spend the same amount of money on a good therapist or something. If you go to her blog, she writes about her clients and what she predicted for them, just to prove herself how good she is. How pathetic is that. First of all I think every client's reading should be kept confidential, unless they approve to advertise for the commercial use. It just makes her sound like a gossipy neighbor. Also, It upsets me to hear she offers some clients discounts in exchange of good reviews on yelp. If you consider yourself a good reader or whatever and want to avoid these negative comments from your page, why don't you offer these angry customers REFUND instead?!?! I went to Liat to get a clear picture of how the next few months are going to play out, nothing extraordinary or looking for a rabbit out of a hat but just some confirmations I'm on the right track or I need to shift a little. She is GREAT at tarot, first of all. She has a deep understanding of the cards meaning and how they translate in your life picture, I felt totally assured she knew her stuff. Also, she read tarot like a counselor, she's incredible at picking what's going on in your life currently and then applying the advice of what comes up in the cards to them. I left feeling like I'd gotten a life coaching session, tarot, a career planner and psychic reading all in one and was confident about what needed to happen for the next few months. I think a lot of people go to her when they're facing some issues in their lives, and Liat has a way of telling you what you need to hear (not what you want to hear) in the most supportive, non judgmental and kind way. I went back again to Liat last November and was once again completely satisfied with the reading. Liat pinpointed the exact time of a career change and love life predictions, the latter of which I was highly doubtful/disagreed with. However, cards were right, I was wrong. So far the reading has been dead on, which is both creepy and exciting to me. Warm, kind and armed with a laser-like perception, my reading uncovered what only I knew. I loved Liat. I didn't really know what to expect, as it was my first tarot reading. I just knew I was anxious and excited! She takes the time to explain the process, focus on the cards I wanted to talk about, and afterward when I needed more clarity she took the time to email me and explain further. I've had readings (psychic, palm, tarot) in the past, usually for the fun of it, to hear of my past, present and future. I'm always entertained and left to enjoy the speculations or perhaps truths of my story. However I recently had a larger than life dilemma and was searching for guidance when I thought to myself "well it couldn't hurt to find a psychic and ask." I was really desperate for some advice after my own personal soul searching wasn't enough. I stumbled upon this Yelp review of Liat and immediately emailed her. I knew she'd be booked in advance but I had to take a chance that she'd be able to see me in 3 weeks. Of course she was completely booked! But she kept me on a waiting list and I just crossed my fingers. I didn't even contact any backups, I just thought if its meant to be I'll hear from her again. She sent me an email a week later saying no cancellations but I was still on her list and it was nice and professional of her to let me know she hadn't forgotten me. Then just days after that I got a call and was scheduled due to a cancellation, thanks Liat! I was so excited and knew I was going to get the assistance I needed just in time. The reading was phenomenal! Liat is a tarot reader, confidant and psychologist all in one which makes your reading ever more meaningful. Often times you can have a reading that's just full of information and you're left to translate all of it on your own. Initially in the cold reading with Liat this is what happens, and I have to say I understood most of it immediately, however as time went on and I gave Liat more information on me, we looked deeper into the cards and got even greater confirmation of what was happening and likely to happen and she got me thinking about things I needed to but had been ignoring because of all my other drama! And then on top of all of that Liat had great concrete suggestions for me and emotional supportive words that helped me see more clearly. She's so approachable and she's the real deal. Liat cold read the cards for me and I was really astounded by the accuracy. I even used a pseudo name so that she could not research me prior to our appointment. We didn't speak at all... she started the conversation (which was pretty much one-way while she was reading!) Wow. That's all I could think... She was not vague at all. Details were spoken about that I didn't tell her (or ANYone). I was not only impressed by her knowledge of the Tarot (yes, I know she *should* be), but her acute insight into the human psyche. As a academic, I have studied psychology and am familiar with many "tricks of the trade" when it comes to psychic readers because I also studied the Tarot for a couple of years. Why was I there? Because I have a lot of open issues that I just wanted some guidance on... You are not supposed to read your own cards, and I didn't want to talk to anyone who knew me, because I think their opinions are biased. Plus, something about Liat completely made me at ease and open to the idea of a reading...I researched her reviews, too. So I set up an appointment with a generic email address (so I couldn't be traced) and waited anxiously to meet with her. If you have never been to a psychic before or you came to Yelp to check her reviews - you should just make the appointment and be the judge yourself. I certainly was not disappointed with my reading and will see her again soon... after putting her advice and cards to the test, I feel as though I have more direction with issues that were once so bothersome. read more

Felt the need to write this review because I also rely on other yelp users for guidance. She's certainly a very nice lady, which helps you feel at ease, I'm sure she wouldn't be in business if she wasn't pleasant. However, she didn't know any major details about my life, which was a red flag. She indicated the cards pick up my energy so that's why. Her cold reading was more of a generic template, that I started something I didn't finish, I'm having problems with family members (or friends that are close)- seriously who doesn't? Etc. I asked a few questions and she have me more of a therapy session, felt like I was talking to a psychologist ... I went in for a reading about my future not for advice on how to handle my situation. Another thing, she goes in circles about the same things over and over and you have I stop her to tell you something you already do NOT know. Don't waste your money and I think it's unethical to ask for a review in exchange for a discount on your next reading. read more

I had my first reading with Liat yesterday. It was a full hour. Much more information than a previous reading I've had. In contrast to the prior reading (not with Liat), her read of the cards was rich with insight and candor mixed with some common sense. She is smart, educated and funny. I liked her as a person, and I liked the reading she gave me. I left with a lot to think about. I didn't get any *predictions* per se, but some good readings on where things are at at the moment and where they might go if left unchecked. I really got a lot out of the experience. First of all, if you check her link, you'll see that her fee is already $75, therefore the whole thing about "Mention this add and pay $75 instead of the usual $125"... so not true. Having said that, I think she's a great person reader rather than a tarot reader. She pretty much described what kind of person I am, but when I said that I wanted to know if the man I love would change his mind regarding marrying me if I told him I would be willing to settle and have children, she replied "Well, that's something you will not know until you ask him". I told her that any of my friends could have told me that and let her know that I was frankly dissapointed at her reading because I've had lots of readings and I am used to getting more information, so she said that what she told me was all what the cards wanted me to know. Forget about getting a glimpse on your future and definitely forget about doing questions. She does two readings. Both of them the same thing, no questions. I must say the cards did speak to me and they told not to pay to get a reading unless someone actually recommended that person. read more

I wanted a tarot reading and booked with Liat, based, at that time, on positive yelp reviews -- my reading was about a year ago. I waited so long to write a review because I wanted to give the reading the benefit of the doubt and see if I would feel differently after some time passed and saw if she had any points. Not really. As some of the other reviewers stated, I just felt really ripped off. I guess she has quite a racket going, I think my session was $135 or something for an hour, meet at a cafe, so no overhead. Her initial reading was super general. I understand that she is not a psychic but a tarot card reader, but I didn't get the impression that she had a great grasp for how the cards interact with each other from the initial reading (she seemed better when answering specific questions later on, but I'm can't say that I know she was correct about anything). Also I didn't find her to be intuitive at all, and at times I found her advice to me to be patronizing. So, yea, not recommended. read more

This is my second review for Liat as I am a VERY HAPPY repeat customer. Oddly, in a scan of the current reviews, I didn't see my original (very satisfied) review in the cue. @Yelp, please keep this one posted. Another point that I noticed in the negative reviews was the reference to psychic ability. It is understandable that the two disciplines could be confused, but Psychics and Tarot Readers are two completely different arts. Tarot skill is aquired through life experiences and practice with the cards. Fortunately, Liat has a wealth of both! So, regarding my reading - it was fantastic! We started with a cold reading, which means I think of a yes/no question and shuffle the Tarot deck. I was able to ask many questions and the entire session was recorded on my phone which allowed me to be focused on the moment by not taking notes and ultimately maximized our time together. There is a give and take in this exchange and is most fruitful when entered into with openness. Although, I can understand how an intitial reading would entail a healthy amount of skeptism. The purpose of my reading was professional and the content I heard was what I needed to hear in order to provide clear direction toward my goals. Which is another thing that crossed my mind when I read the dissatisfied reviews. I wonder if the accuracy of the reading produced a challenging path and thus disappointment in Liat's unsatisfied customers. I find Liat's readings are so helpful. Particularly when I am at a crossroads and need some guidance. I agree that Liat is warm, friendlly and incredibly responsible. So I've given her a 5 star rating. And the cafe/coffee shop thing doesn't bother me. In fact, it protects the customer. Would your mother want you going into a stranger's home? I think not.
