I have very bad experience with Triangle Chimney Pros. We have a broken gas fireplace and requested fixing. My manual says they the problem is with thermocouple or thermopile. There is a blinking green/red diode and it's easy to find what's the problem in the manual. I explained everything to the guy who came from Triangle Chimney Pros. He read my manual as he came, cashed $150 for that, and said they have to order parts. They send me $400 estimate for the part and fixing. After I agreed they NEVER get back to me. I called many times, left multiple messages, wrote emails. NO REPLY whatsoever. They LITERALLY READ MANUAL AT MY HOME and CHARGED ME $150 for that!!!! Horrible horrible horrible pros! read more

I suspect this company went under new ownership in 2017. I used them years ago and had no issues, and this year I have had literally the worst experience I've ever had working with a local business. I don't have much to add to the other 1* reviews found above mine, but this about outlines my complaints: 1) Sent someone out to do initial inspection and give me a quote. I paid the deposit (half the total) and scheduled an installation date two months out. 2) They proceeded to miss the initial install date because they went to the wrong job instead of my house. I got no calls telling me this until noon, at which point I had missed a half day of work to sit around waiting for them to show up. 3) They rescheduled for the next day, when David (the owner) showed up. He immediately discovered he didn't have the necessary materials because the original proposal was wrong. He had no good reason for why they did not do their job at the first visit two months prior. He then told me the materials would arrive on Thursday and he would 100% ensure that it was installed the following Saturday (his first available opportunity). During this visit he also made it clear to me that jobs like mine (a $3,000 job) were not big enough for him to really care, as most jobs bring in much more money. He also said he would be happy to give me back my deposit, but there's no way I could find someone else to do it in the area. I'm pretty sure that last statement is why they're still in business despite all the 1* reviews. 4) The following Saturday came and went with no phone call, but an email that informed me the supplies were backordered, and it was now going to be significantly more expensive than the original proposal. 5) I followed up with a phone call, at which point they said they would call back in an hour, and I have yet to hear back. This has happened literally every time I spoke to someone at the office, and have never gotten a return call. I always call back approximately 15-20 times with no answer (are they screening the calls?) and if I leave a voicemail I do not get a return call. I'm confused as to how they are still in business the way they treat customers, and as soon as I find someone else to complete the job I'll update the review with my recommendation so others reading it can go elsewhere. read more

Initially, the appointment went well and I was impressed by David. Scheduled an appointment to replace a part on the top of the chimney and paid 50% down ($294.50). Received a prompt email for the next visit as the part had to be made to the specifications. Appointment date/time came and went. I called and left voice mails three times, sent multiple email - nothing. Thank goodness I paid with a credit card as I have disputed the part charge. Still...nothing. read more

Missed some obvious stuff on the fireplace inspection. Pros: Friendly Cons: 1. Told me the vent underneath my fireplace was just a fresh air return - it's not. There's a blower down there. 2. Failed to recognize the blower or let us know that it was broken. 3. Failed to notice that the terracotta lining was severely cracked and missing in some places. 4. Wasn't able to operate the upstairs fireplace. I had to figure it out myself and then show him how to do it. 5. When I asked about buying a new insert for the faulty upstairs fireplace, he gave me a brochure for a fireplace wholesaler that doesn't exist anymore... and told me to call him when I knew which one I wanted. 6. Said he didn't need to go on the roof to get a good look at it. He could see it fine from the ground. Turns out there are some issues up there too. 7. Completely non-responsive to our calls to try to get a copy of the report. It never came and all we went on was the verbal report from him (our mistake.) I've got about $10k in chimney work I wasn't expecting, all of which should have been identified in a basic report. fml Update: They finally got back to us and said they don't actually have a physical report because the tech didn't gather enough information to produce one. Disappointing service. Sealed and washed my chimney 2 year ago with a 10 year 'no leak' warranty. Chimney began leaking, had them come out to do an inspection. The receptionist told me they had discovered that the product they used sometimes didn't seal/stick well in colder weather (it had been done in November). Technician reported to the office that we weren't at home and he waited 40 minutes and left (despite talking to me on the phone twice - my husband was there and in the basement, but he assured me I didn't need to text him as he was just going to hop on the roof to look at the chimney). When I called the office to clarify the receptionist told me she saw pictures of my chimney from the visit in the system and would talk to the technician to get more information (and then never called me back). Got another company to come out and do an evaluation and much of what was on my original invoice was not completely done, most glaringly the waterproofing wasn't fully covering the chimney (areas were completely missed) and there were big areas that did not get tuck pointed. These were obviously needing tuck pointing at the time of service because the open areas around the joints were in some cases waterproofed over. read more

Short review - I would not recommend Triangle Chimney Pros to anyone for anything. Long review - I hired Triangle Chimney Pros to complete repair work on my 39 year old brick chimney, the work was completed early August 2019 and included work on the exterior sides and top to make it more waterproof, repair work to the mortar inside the chimney, and repairing some of the bricks in the firebox. The grand total was $3200+. Their firebox repair consisted of mortar smeared on the back wall of the firebox covering up the bricks, it wasn't what I expected and seemed a little strange when I saw it. The fireplace was not used until late November 2019 and after just a few fires the mortar on the back wall of the firebox started chipping off. I called Triangle Chimney Pros and the owner came out in January. He gave me a BS story about the mortar being excess material and some is supposed to chip off. I didn't buy it and told him so, but I'm not the expert. We continued to use the fireplace quite a bit the rest of 2019 and into 2020. In April 2020 while doing the final season cleanout I noticed quite a bit more mortar had chipped off the back wall and gaps of missing mortar between the bricks was now visible, not good. I contacted Triangle Chimney Pros in April 2020, emailed them pictures of the issue, and scheduled a return visit. In May 2020 just before the scheduled visit, the owner called me and said he would not be coming out to look at the problem and that any repairs needed were now my problem, going so far as to tell me that I could put mortar between the bricks myself if needed. I was livid. What did I pay them $3200 for? Now everything they did is suspect. And I can't use the fireplace. So much for a warranty and standing behind their work. I had another company come out to clean and inspect the fireplace inside and out. They said the outside work and the work in the chimney is OK, but that the work done in the firebox was shocking. The mortar they used was just regular mortar and not made for fireplaces and high heat. No wonder it was chipping off. They should have removed the damaged mortar from between the bricks, replaced the damaged bricks, and then installed new high heat mortar between the bricks, not cover them up. So now I have to cough up another $2200 to get the firebox right and the fireplace useable again. I do not recommend using Triangle Chimney pros. read more

Non-responsive. From the moment I found out about this company, I've had no verbal communication from them. I scheduled an appointment online and received the confirmation. Afterwards, I called and left a voicemail to confirm what was happening and to get answers to questions I might have. I never received a call back. I tried several times to call up until my scheduled appointment window - same thing, no response. The day of my appointment has arrived, and the two-hour window of our appointment has passed. I'm even curious about the legitimacy of the company's existence at this point, as this is absolutely unprofessional. My time has been wasted by them, and at this point I would not only not recommend this company, but would warn folks to stay away. You will have your time wasted. read more

I had hesitated to have our fireplace fixed, for fear it would cost an arm and a leg! David was phenomenal. On time, efficient, friendly. Office answered the phone and promptly scheduled the appointment a few days out. VERY reasonably priced. Highly recommend!! read more

David seemed professional and helpful when he showed up to clean my chimney. He offered to put in the new gas logs I was replacing. He ended up charging me $30 more than a competitor, charged another $15 extra for parts he needed for the install, and took my new parts with him when he left, which I ended up needing. A week and a half and 5 phone calls later, he finally called me back to say he would return the parts he took at his convenience. I wouldn't recommend him. read more

We really liked working with Triangle Chimney Pros as they fixed our leakey chimney a few months ago. They seemed a bit busy, and it was tough to get their multiple visits scheduled, but once they came out, they were courteous and professional and fixed the problem. Then a couple of weeks ago, our chimney started leaking again. We've called and emailed multiple times, but they haven't called us back. It's frustrating to not be able to get a hold of them. read more

I saw an advertisement in the "Money Mailer" for a tune-up, cleaning, and safety check. I emailed them and scheduled an appointment. I arranged my work schedule to meet them on the agreed upon day. An hour before my appointment they called and said something like "Sorry, our van had a flat tire and has some brake problems, can we reschedule." I thought have both a flat tire and brake problems at the same time was a little fishy, but... ok. I called to reschedule, no answer so I left a message. I emailed, no response. read more

Scheduled the chimney inspection several weeks ago for 8/26/19 at 8 am. I scheduled the day off and was all set. I received an email confirmation from Triangle Chimney Pros on 8/25. On the 26th 8 am my appointment time came and went with no one arriving or calling. At 10 am I left a msg on voicemail.....no response. At 11, I left a msg via their website.......no response. Three years ago we paid over $700.00 to have our fireplace cleaned and sealed because the cap was leaking. They used a rubberized seal to cover the cracks on the cap. (It is supposed to have a 10 year warranty.) When the bricks on the inside of our fireplace started leaking our handyman climbed up to the top of the chimney to check it out, and started throwing down this dried rotted rubber seal. Our handyman told us that Triangle Chimney Pros used a bandage on a cap that needed surgery. My phone call to them was unanswered and by the reviews, I can see why. read more

Took over two weeks for someone to come out and verdict was needed fireplace replaced. Was told I'd have a few options beginning of the following week. Two weeks later, I've got nothing. I've called and left two messages and haven't heard back from anyone else. I called the mad hatter and left a message and he called me back to tell me he doesn't replace fireplaces, but have me names of two companies that do. All he does is chimney sweep and air duct cleaning, so would recommend him for those services. The Mad Hatter!! read more

Very, very helpful. Probably saved the house from a bad situation. This is an old house with a pre-fab fireplace. After buying the house and installing new gas logs, we wanted to have the chimney cleaned and the fireplace inspected. The first inspector was rude, and did not go into the attic, or do more than look up the chimney from the firebox. After cleaning the chimney (about ten minutes of work) he presented an inspection report that simply said (in capital letters) "Do not use this fireplace! Unsafe!" His parting remarks were that he knew more than anyone else and he could fix the problem but it would cost us. unfortunately, he was so rude, we asked him to leave, as he couldn't easily explain what wrong. I called Triangle Chimney for a second opinion. They were incredibly punctual (right on time), and did a thorough inspection which included crawling into the attic. They also looked at the chimney cap, and took pictures of the entire chimney from the inside. The verdict: Yes, there were some issues but there was no pressure to have them make the repairs. Instead they gave best advice and let us decide next steps. We used a construction professional who had done a good bit of work to the house already. He came over, tore the front of the fireplace off, and used non-combustable materials to address the problem. Very inexpensive. Were there other issues? Absolutely. Evidently previous work had been done and we found moldy pieces of wood, pieces of foam board (leaning against the firebox), shingles, cigarette packages, and old soft drinks bottles in the space around the firebox. The biggest scare was the scorched wallboard that a previous owner had used instead of the fire resistant board recommended, and melted insulation that a previous owner had put in to seal off the firebox. We really believe that Triangle Chimney saved us a serious fire. (and, in response to a previous post - we're an older couple in our seventies, no relation to the company... :) read more

Excellent experience with Triangle Chimney - they were courteous, took the time to explain everything (and used a drone which my husband thought was pretty cool) and did fire guard, crown repair and a multi-flue cap for a fair price. David, Mike and Jason did an outstanding job - and very importantly- their price quote was lower than all of the other bids we got, with a more honest approach. Long story short: Technician showed up, said he would get me my quote that day, I never got it. A few days go by, still no quote. I reach out to them but rarely does someone actually answer the phone. I left messages and finally I get a call back saying they had the wrong email address for me, even though I saw with my own eyes on the technician's ipad my correct email. They finally come to do the work but I noticed they did not put on a chimney cap which I had definitely discussed with the technician when he came to my house as my main issue was critters setting up camp in my chimney. So, we made an appt for the chimney cap and this company was NO CALL NO SHOW twice!!! We called and left messages, finally the cap is placed months later...I could go on but this is getting long...Basically, they're very disorganized, I was sent the wrong bill with the wrong date on it, it's hard to get a hold of them, and they were a no call no show TWO TIMES in a row with no explanation whatsoever. They inspected the chimneys and pointed out problems we had and offered suggestions how to hand the problems. David and Gene were very nice and helpful. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and UNRELIABLE! I called Triangle Chimney in June and scheduled a chimney sweep and firebox repair for a Saturday morning in July. I never heard from them again. They did not show up, they did not call, they did not return my phone calls inquiring about their whereabouts/ETA on the day of the appointment. I wasted a beautiful summer Saturday waiting for them. Sadly I cannot rate their services because they stood me up with NO EXPLANATION. I will be using a different service before the weather turns cooler. read more

Triangle chimney not only damaged our home, they have lied on social media stating they've issued us a refund. Truth is - they took their wood stove insert, chimney cap and flue liner, and took our money, too! It is 24 days later and we still have no refund (not partial, not any). AND, the repair bills for the damage they caused are adding up. Heather and David hung their hats on the fact we still had a working "chaise cover" and they "tucked and pointed the chimney, and waterproofed". When another company came to install a new cap w damper, they could lift-up the chaise cover which was not secured at the top at all. In fact, David used some silicone to glue a few bricks and the remainder aren't even attached to at the top. Damages being worse than we thought, I once again tried to reason w David and Heather from TCP, but still - no refund, no accountability. This company has only been in business 2 years, we will used more experienced and trusthworthy folks moving forward. read more
