I cannot even begin to express how much I absolutely love this place! They saved my BFF! (THIS IS LONG, BUT SO WORTH READING!!) A little backstory: I have a pom/chi, Karma, who is only nine years old and had started having some incontinence issues, very unlike her! I took her to our first vet (not Tri-County) and suggested when making the appointment that she may have a bladder infection or UTI of some sort. After a two hour wait in their office (with an appointment) the vet came in and after less than 30 seconds of examination felt inclined to fall back on my non-professional diagnosis of a UTI. She gave her a shot and some pills and a $130 bill and sent us on our way (this vet is a whole mess of terrible, but that is another review). A week and a half later, Karma was still having the same issues with no sign of improvement. Needless to say, we found another vet to visit. They seemed nice enough, and again upon booking the appointment, I suggested that she may have a bladder infection or UTI of some sort. This vet ran a urinalysis and again Karma was diagnosed with a UTI and we received another round of antibiotics and another $130 bill and were asked to come back in two weeks to check her urine again to see if it was cleared up. Two weeks passed and she showed no signs of improvement yet again. This time, we went back to the second vet again to have her reassessed. After speaking with the vet and running a second urinalysis, the vet informed me that the infection was still prominent in the test and that there was a need for a urine culture; however, that required a clean urine sample taken directly from the bladder. She informed us that before she could take the sample, we would need an ultrasound to make sure that there was not a tumor in her bladder. Of course I consented without question because after all, this was my little buddy we are talking about! Anything to get her well. We go to check out and schedule the ultrasound and it runs me another $90 for the office visit and yet another round of antibiotics. Then the kicker....it would be $398 to get the ultrasound to make sure there was no tumor, then another $179 for the clean urine extraction. My heart sank, at this point we were 3 vet visits and $350 in for what I had been assured was simply a UTI, but to be sure, it would cost us another $577. This prompted me to search out yet our 4th and FINAL (FOR LIFE, well at least the life of our pets) vet. I made the call to Tri-County, my spirits down trying to figure out how I was going to afford to save my girl, and Kathy answered the phone. I inquired about the price of an ultrasound for a tiny dog and she took my breath away when she answered around $60!!!! She apologetically mentioned that they MAY have to charge me another $40 for an office visit also, depending on what needed to be done after completing the ultrasound. I was so happy I almost cried right then and there! We booked Karma an appointment and thanked the Good Lord above for leading us there! This was the beginning of the best decision of my (and Karma's) life! My husband took her in at her scheduled time the next day and met with Dr. Byrd! AN ANGEL FROM ABOVE! Not only did she run the ultrasound, she also ran an x-ray after seeing a few masses that she wanted to look at. She determined the cause for all of Karma's issues in less that 30 minutes! BLADDER STONES! THREE HUGE ONES TO BE EXACT! My heart wept with joy when she informed me that Karma would simply need to be on a prescription diet to dissolve the stones and that she would be GOOD AS NEW AGAIN! She also informed me that she would have never dismissed a bladder infection and/or UTI as just that without looking for the underlying causes! She assured us that she would have found them on the first visit (which, technically, she did!). Her "bedside" manner with Karma, as well as with me on speakerphone asking her millions of questions, WAS PHENOMENAL! Not only did we leave there with total confidence and directions to fix Karma's diagnosis, we had attained an ultrasound, a set of x-rays, a bag of prescription food specialized for bladder stones and other urinary issues, another round of antibiotics to handle the UTI while the stones were being addressed and an office visit for a GRAND TOTAL OF $177!!!!!!!!!! I could stop there but I won't. The price was one thing, but the service was QUITE ANOTHER! This isn't just a cheap vet! This is a safe haven for your beloved animals! They are truly the most amazing people I have ever met, AND QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST AND ONLY VET YOU WILL EVER NEED!!!! Trust me when I tell you, book an appointment and don't look back! Thank you Dr. Byrd and staff!!!! I will see you again! Marla, my 8 year old black lab, can't wait to meet you! #welcometoyournewhappyplace Signed, ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER!!!!! read more
